I absolutely love this place. The ladies are so friendly and will redo anything you are not pleased with. They let my aunt re-pick her color like 3 times! They have gel, powder, acrylic, and regular polish. They take their time, caring about the close details. They paint close to the cuticle, which I LOVE. They also do designs and artwork. I loved what they did on my aunt. Picture attached. They do things by appointment, but I like that because they take their time with each customer. They only take tips via cash, so make sure you come with that, but you can pay for your nails via card. They will not add a tip onto a card payment. I have gone here regularly to get manicures for years. I usually just pop in. Helen and Kathy are very nice. I cringe when I get stuck with the other one. She is so unfriendly and rude to me. It was to the point I thought she didn't speak English until I heard her chattering away with another customer. I will continue to go there for the convenience but I will request one of the other manicurist. Twent dollars is a lot to pay for attitude. read more

This salon is in the Witch City Mall, so it might be harder to find for new customers; however it's a nice clean facility. I've always had a great experience here. It tends to be pricier than other local nail salons but it's worth the extra few dollars. The service is great and it's a busy little place. I recommend calling ahead if you want to get in after work or on the weekends. Sometimes when they're busy, I've felt like they rushed a bit on my pedicure. I've never thought Golden Nails was that great, but usually went because others wanted to or because it was close. The manicures/pedicures are fine, but the technicians don't do a stand out job or anything - it's just your typical nail salon. I had an underarm wax there once, and they did not do a good job. But, I had an emergency the other day, and this was the only walkable salon that was open. So I went back for another underarm wax. They did a better job this time. The wax room is actually really nice because the table rotates, so the tech is not reaching over you. However, two signs state that my service should have been $14, yet I was charged $19. When I questioned the owner, he could not give me an answer as to why I was being charged $19. So I just paid and left, but I will never, ever return. read more

This place is unbelievably terrible. The service was awful and the nails were even worse. I asked for at least some money back and they refused to give me a partial refund and wanted to give me a certificate instead like I will not be returning. I know it sounds harsh but they over charge for ridiculous nails. read more

Outstanding job on a gel manicure and regular pedicure. The woman who did my nails was especially friendly and magically fast. However, I did not feel rushed at all. My nails are perfectly shaped, and as another reviewer noted, the nail tech painted very close to the cuticle. Totally professional and beautiful job. The salon could use some updates, but really, do not be put off by some of the outdated decor. I never once felt that the place was not clean and safe. It's also in the sketchy mall in Salem. Again, don't let that stop you. The most important thing is that my nails look amazing and the staff is really top-notch. I will definitely come back. read more

I was completely turned off when I walked in, asked for my usual service and was told no one was available and to make an appointment for later. The salon was empty and there were at least 3 technicians that I could see, not helping any clients. I haven't been back since. read more

I've been an on again off again client for years. Recently more off again due to no other reason than just being really busy, especially during business hours. I've tried three times in the past month and a half to get in for a mani/pedi and then just pedi and when I call they say they're too busy, when I go in they say they don't have any availability... this is even when they have 5 or 6 hours left in their work day. And in case you're wondering I am a super nice and understanding/patient person and customer. So they obviously don't need my business! They probably don't need yours either! Don't waste your time looking for parking or paying to park because they're just going to turn you away. You can find better service anywhere else. read more

Hidden gem, right in the heart of Salem. My favorite nail salon, always clean and very accommodating. Tweety is my favorite nail tech. (But all of them are fantastic) She always remembers me, even if it's been months since my last visit. Her manicures and pedicures are solid and nearly un-chippable. I never have to worry about if my nail color will last. They're also really good at squeezing in last minute appointments. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Keep in mind that tips are cash only, so make a quick stop at the ATM. :-) read more

I'm shocked by how well my manicure and pedicure turned out. The place is not swanky by any means, but the service is excellent and inexpensive. The standard mani pedi for $38 has lasted nearly a week without chipping (this is miraculous for someone who regularly hits the gym). I will absolutely be back, this place is a gem! read more

Surprisingly good pedicures. Not a lot of bedside manner in this nail salon in the dark and dingy mall across from the Peabody Essex but they do a good job. Worth the extra five dollars for the "spa" pedicure which includes an exfoliating scrub and massage with a cooling gel. read more
