Worst massage I have ever experienced, got my mom and I some massages for Mothers Day and the experience was absolutely terrible. First off, the inconsistency in the massage the whole time was the part that really upset me, the masseuses would be talking and laughing while me and my mom were getting them, and I got the worst "temple" massage I think I have ever gotten. She was rubbing the sides of my forehead so hard it basically gave me a headache afterwards. I would even go as far to say that the women working there today really milked that hour that I paid for the service. One of the girls stopped in the middle of the service to go help a customer... in the middle of the massage. So unprofessional and I still tipped cash. Regretting my decision right now. Well lesson learned to rely on Groupon for a place for a massage at a good deal. By far the worst massage I'd ever gotten. I got a 90 min and it might as feel like 5 mins as I felt nothing after. No feeling like my knots got worked on or any tighteneness was released. It seems there was no education on how to give a full body massage. When I tried to give a tip worthy of the massage she balked at it and demanded more money. My partner and I booked a couples massage and as everything went well with him. My masseuse walked out to do other things in the middle of my massage. She would go get the front door, leave for a few minutes multiple times. I understand that yes things may be busy. However, I didn't even have these minutes made back up at the end of my massage. My partners masseuse didn't leave at any point during the 90 minutes, yet we were done at the same time. It was just upsetting, I paid for the full experience. It was very clean, and very calming. Do not get a deep tissue Swedish massage if you are worried of pain. My upper back hurts very badly. It was an extremely uncomfortable massage and I frequently wanted to scream of pain. My buttcheeks were practically completely out, barely covered by the towel. And not to mention, the hot stones were only used for 1 minute. If I purchase a hot stone massage I would expect much more time. It was the only moment in the massage that I wasn't in pain. I was not expecting to be writing this review. I purchased a Groupon for a 60-minute couples massage with hot stones and made an appointment with the owner for today at 5 pm. We arrived a few minutes early, were immediately greeted (the masseuses spoke very little English), asked for some water, and were brought to our "room," which was more of a space separated by curtains. The walls are paper thin, and we could hear music from the establishment next door, as well as all of the construction they were doing. From the get-go, I felt a bit uncomfortable, as I could understand the masseuses' Mandarin and could tell that there was a power dynamic between them. Immediately, my masseuse (I think her name was Jenny, but the owner told me I had been booked with Mia) was telling Tracy (my partner's masseuse) how to give the massage. Around 10 times, she made comments like, "Why are you using more than one towel to wipe her? No wonder we are running low on towels! You don't need to wipe all the oil off. They are going to shower after this anyways." Our masseuses also stepped out maybe three times to retrieve more materials. When it came time for our hot stone treatment, I was disappointed because it only lasted one minute (I'm not exaggerating). Also, during our massage, another client came in, and Jenny/Mia left for a few minutes to greet them. When she came back, she told Tracy that they needed to cut our session a few minutes short (they had started at 5:05 pm) in order to be done in time for the next one. She also told Tracy to stop applying more massage oil because it would take longer to clean up, and to use something that could sit on the skin/evaporate instead. I felt awful for Tracy, who seemed to try to advocate for us to receive the full and a high-quality massage. Jenny/Mia ended up wrapping up my massage first despite already having stepped out to speak with the next client earlier, and Tracy appeared to feel rushed to finish with my partner soon after. Tracy then asked if she could get my partner water, though she declined. I did go get myself some water after, and Jenny/Mia commented to Tracy, "So you're just going to make the customers get their own water?" Tracy appeared on the verge of tears, telling us that we did not need to tip her because she was still in training. We ended up tipping 20% on the total for both of us on my card (there is a $3 charge for each transaction), though it was difficult to communicate that we wanted the tip to be split between the two of them. I hope that Tracy still received her half of the tip, but I am not certain, as she had gone to the back of the business by the time we were able to be checked out. In terms of the quality of the massage, I feel sad to say that my partner and I both had really unpleasant experiences. My massage felt aggressive and rushed, and it was more uncomfortable than satisfying. I appreciate a massage that hurts in a good way, but this one hurt in a truly bad way. Unfortunately, it sounds like my partner had an even more disappointing experience, describing it as the worst massage she has ever gotten, and one she would decline even if free. She described her masseuse pressing really hard on her bones to the point where she would frequently shift her position to avoid this. Her underwear were also completely rolled down below her butt cheeks without a towel being placed over areas that were not being worked on, and she had to move her towel herself a few times. Otherwise, she felt like she did not really get a massage, as the pressure was too light, and essentially just had oil rubbed all over her. I hope this review does not ruin anyone's livelihood, but rather, that this can be taken as constructive feedback for the future. I am not sure why our experience was so terrible, given this establishment's otherwise great reviews. Perhaps they assign trainees to Groupon bookings? Regardless, we did not feel it was worth it and left in worse condition than we arrived. read more

We found Thai Lotus Healing Spa...through Yelp, actually and the reviews were pretty accurate. They are located on Ventura Blvd., on a nondescript block where the only noticeable business was a McDonald's. By the signs, they do have complimentary parking located in the rear of the building, however since we went on a Sunday, we parked right in front of the storefront. Inside, it's cleaner and more serene than most Thai or Asian massage places in the valley. One can be pretty certain that this place is legitimate and clean. The waiting little waiting area is well decorated and refined. In the back, it's a giant room that's separated by curtains, which seems to offer them the flexibility to the space for singles or couples. The massage beds are interesting in that it looks like a torture machine with bars overhead, but those are actually the bars they use for the Thai style massages where they walk on your back. Regarding the massage, I would say they are above average in comparison to other spas and facilities located in the valley. Pressure was good to great to painful, but that's all based on preference. You don't for a minute feel uncomfortable and unlike a lot of places, they are not talking to each other in their native tongue while giving you a massage. That I really appreciated. Overall, for the cost and the services offered, I would recommend Thai Lotus Healing Spa and personally will go back to try other types of massages on offer. read more

This was the Thai Lotus massage place but the excellent staff and ownership has changed...along with the quality, service and it is very disappointing. The massage was okay, at best. Some of the issues included: Massage therapist unable to speak English: therefore was not able to communicate effectively (kept using his phone to translate) Couldn't ask me where I wanted focus, and hurt me multiple times, and nervously laughed when I cried out in pain. Weird massage: not Thai, and not much of anything. Excessive oil, rough towel, didn't focus on anything I actually needed or wanted. Couldn't tell me how to pay, then pointed to Zelle in a book, with details hard to read. Then demanded a tip. (I'm all for tipping when it's worth it, but I couldn't explain why I didn't want to tip, or feel it was deserved.) Would not recommend or go back again. read more

I was on my way to LA to get an acupuncture for my left hip pain, but I decided to get off the fwy because the drive seemed especially long today. I searched for the nearest Thai massage, and I ended up here. I asked for the first combo, but it started off too soft for me, so in the middle of it, I asked for more pressure. I'm really glaD I asked, because from then on, I was like~that's exactly what I needed!! There were some positions of massage that I never had elsewhere, which really worked for my side hip area. I felt more balanced and my body felt like one piece again lol! Hopefully, I can call for the same skillful hands next time. I liked the bed set-up as well. I have to start by saying that this is my fav massage place on Ventura. I've been here several times and always enjoy it which is why today at around 4:30-5 I went in to get a massage. I was a walk in which I always do and they usually take me. So today I walk over and the door is locked. I immediately check their hours of operation and notice that they're open until 8pm so I knock. That's when I notice someone SLEEPING at the register (pictured). Well. I though I would call and try to wake her up but it didn't work. I went around back and tried that door but nope. She locked that too. Guess she decided it was nap time so she locked all the doors. I understand that people get tired but at least go take a nap inside on one of the beds so a customer doesn't come and see you laying there snoozing lol I'll probably still come back but will def call beforehand read more

I can't believe I found this amazing massage place walking distance from my apt, hallelujah! Do note that each masseuse has a different style! One woman who worked on me gave me a very gentle and soothing massage, and during my most recent visit I had a deep tissue, knot loving massage...kinda painful, but I knew I'd feel awesome afterwards. They also have two different types of rooms, some have tables, some you lay on a mini mattress on the floor. Make sure to let them know how you feel - whether you need more pressure, less pressure... They are happy to help! I personally love the combo Swedish/Thai massage, and for $35 the price can't be beat! I usually tip $15, but it's up to you.
