The broccoli beef was okay. The flavor wasn't very strong but the broccoli was full and the beef was tender. Steamed dumplings... the pork inside was great but there was way too much dough flour as another reviewer mentioned. So much dough that I couldn't eat the ends on each side. Egg rolls were huge and stuffed with pork... but again they wrap was so doughy that they weren't enjoyable. The sweet and sour soup .... how did you steer me wrong, Yelp people???? It tasted like they poured enough sugar that you could have made Kool-Aid with it. It was over the top sweet and sugary. Took 2 bites and wasted a massive amount of soup since it was to-go. This is my first time here. I will be coming back, even though it is halfway across town. Take a simply good Chinese restaurant and turn everything up a couple notches. The food is really good. The egg rolls are crispy, not chewy or greasy like so many other places. They are obviously not using the same old pre-made product you find elsewhere. The Shrimp toast is amazing! Full of sweet tasty shrimp. Service is fantastic: Polite and very attentive. The atmosphere is very pleasant. Clean, pretty, and peaceful. The music helps mask conversation, but does not discourage it. White linen table cloths and real glass water glasses. While the food/service is quick, this is a place you see as a restaurant, not a fast food joint. read more

Went there for dinner last night & it was a total disappointment! Although the decor is still very nice, the food went all down the tubes!! I had the hot & sour pork & the best half had the Cantonese style fried noodles. Both dishes were gaggy Sweet & my H&S Pork didn't have any pork in the fried dough balls & the few veggies there were looked 5 days old!! YUK!!! I also had Hot & sour soup & I had to ask for some vinegar to make it even mediocre. I think there maybe a new owner that thinks Americans can't handle real Chinese food so they make it all taste like candy!! The only upside if that's possible was that it's very reasonably priced??? Oh my god. Do not come here unless you want to down a bottle of salt down your throat. (Bottle of salt = all the salt they put in the food) the hot and sour soup is full of sodium and tastes very non authentic. The shrimp sauce they put is really not a consistency and the sauce tastes weird and glazed. I would recommend going somewhere else. Maybe Thai House. But the crab ragoons here are good. read more

We had the sweet and sour chicken with white rice, an order of shrimp fried rice and also an order of orange chicken. The shrimp fried rice and sweet sour chicken were pretty good but it left me feeling sick afterwards, I'm not sure if it was the food or just coincidence. The Orange chicken was horrible in my opinion. I'm sorry! It just lacked flavor and what flavor there was, was just not good to me. Having just recently moved back to Omaha I was looking for a reasonably priced Chinese restaraunt with fast yet good takeout service. Since I only did takeout from here I can't rate their entire dining experience, but the food was ready quickly and was hot, fresh and reasonably priced. I got their Mongolian Beef, Sesame Chicken and an order of 6 crab Rangoon for $23. The portions were large enough that I got 2 meals out of it. Will definitely be a repeat customer! read more

We've been going here off and on for years. Went this past Saturday. What on earth happened? The food was unrecognizable from before. Loaded with sodium, it took me to the next week to lose the water weight I got. Fried rice was dark brown an had a rancid after taste. I ordered Broccoli Chicken, it came in some heavy brown sauce; worse, the chicken pieces had been breaded and deep fried. It looked like they tore up a bucket of KFC to make it. I gave two stars because they still have the nice ambiance as before, service was good. We were there early Saturday afternoon, in the past they'd have been half full. There was one other table with people when we were there and I think they were the owner's family. Really sad, so much bad Chinese out there, more isn't needed. read more

We came here to try something new. We will definitely be back. I had the Szechuan Chicken which was excellent, my better half ordered Orange Chicken which was absolutely delicious! The orange chicken is not the super-sweet candy-like bright orange, it's the real thing (and if you aren't looking you may eat into the orange rind.). I will definitely get the orange chicken again. We also had crab rangoons and egg-rolls; I'd recommend the crab rangoons. Both of these dishes were marked with the spicy pepper, but we found it could have been spicier to fit our tastes. Next time we go I'm going to ask them to add some more heat. In the end we were very satisfied and definitely want to come back and try their hot and sour soup and other stuff on the chef's specials menu which sounded great. read more

Horrible dinner last night. I understand ownership changed and you can tell. Crab Rangoon was over fried, wonton soup was dark brown--sent back and got egg drop soup and that was bland, sweet and sour chicken which I have always ordered there was over fried dry chicken with sweet and sour sauce poured over the chicken and a few chunks of pineapple and no vegetables . I asked the waitress if it was suppose to have vegetables and she said the only vegetable is the pineapple. Hmmmm?? Only went because they are on our passport card. Now I see they have a Groupon. This is the best Chinese food I've found in Omaha. The dishes are wonderful and the service is fantastic every time. We do pick up orders are least once a month and they always quick and fresh when we get there. Our favorites dishes are: Egg drop soup... it has corn in it which is great. We have been coming here for 19 years. The last two times we've gotten take out, the food hasn't been as good as before. Last week, my sesame chicken tasted like the chicken had been washed in soap or soaked in water, no chicken flavor, but there was a different taste to it. Golden palace is by far one of the nice Chinese restaurants in Omaha. I've been here a few times and it never disappoints! I'm a picky eater and stay with the same few meals at every restaurant. Their menu is about the same as any Chinese place. I really like their sesame chicken here it's fantastic! Their crab Rangoon is also perfect! I'm not a big crab lover so when I can taste the crab I don't crab Rangoon as much. Here there is the perfect amount of everything in the crab Rangoon. I like their egg drop soup too. My mom however has tried the hot and sour soup and the egg drop and both she thought were kind of bland. I always add soy sauce to my egg drop soup and she does not so that might be the difference why I like mine and she does not. The service here is fantastic! I would take a sip out of my water glass and there would be the lady refilling my glass! They are very speedy too you do not wait long for your order. The inside is kept very nice and looks clean. The only thing is that the booth I sat in tonight seemed like it had been around for a while. It sank way down and it also felt like I could just slide right off my seat because it was tipped up slightly. The seat isn't anything that's a big deal but it wouldn't hurt to replace the seats in the future. read more
