My last few visits to the Golden Palace has been disappointing to say the least. The service is horrible, very unprofessional, you know they would rather be somewhere else. The food...yikes. You know there is going to be something wrong with your order when it shows up less than 5 minutes after you ordered, and sure enough my chicken had the same texture as rubber bands. This restaurant has been a Longview staple for decades. Many wonderful dishes to choose from. The potstickers and egg foo young are homemade and the best I have ever had. Our family has many entree favorites and always have a hard time choosing from the many wonderful dishes available. Service is generally quick and efficient, though not always warm and friendly. Decor is dated. Bring a jacket or sweater because they tend to set the air conditioning too low and it is always very cold on there. read more

This is 4-stars for Longview, 3 stars or any major city. Despite other reviews, the place is not claustrophobic. Big windows in front. Decent Chinese Decor - doesn't feel divey. Pleasant attentive service (although on Monday night at 7 place was not crowded at all). We've had better being spoiled by Shanghai Garden in Issaquah, WA where we live but this place seemed solid. Their food is definitely saltier than your average Chinese but less sweet too. I stuffed myself and was eating a Sundae at McDonalds 30 min later. Maybe too much MSG too or something? Tasted good though except for slightly to salty. Hot & Sour Soup was SPICY, made my nose run (and I love spice). Mo-Pa Tofus with spicy meat sauce was delicious (and not that spicy!) Mu Shu Pork - check. Chicken Chow Mein - check. $50 for family of 4 with 2 beers and a wine. Check. Portions were average so I'd say average value here. The only snafu is that they didn't understand we couldn't take the leftovers as we had not fridge in our hotel so I think they were thought we didn't like the food. Turn down the salt a little and this place is a solid as opposed to a weak 4 stars. read more

I dont eat chinese food much, but when I do, and am in Longview, I love to eat the food here. We always order the same dishes; tso's chicken, vegetarian moo shoo, shrimp with hot mandarin sauce, and sweet and sour chicken. The serving size is generous for us, so we always have left overs. We normally eat with my inlaws and even then there is plenty to save for later. As far as customer service and decor are concerned, I find that to be a bit lacking. We mostly do take out and enjoy the food at home. As far as authenticity in chinese food, I think it is more Americanized, but not in a Panda express or Safeway chinese food way. I can't believe Longview has such good Chinese food. Mandarin shrimps have a very unique spicy sauce. Beef with broccoli is fresh and tasty. Fried chicken wings with a layer of honey and garlic sauce are impressive too. I will definitely revisit again. read more

Stopped here a few weeks ago with my wife. The end of a romantic date night. The food was decent but not exceptional. Service was prompt and very courteous. We were there fairly late and so not many patrons. But a local young jerk decided to come in and with his girlfriend and be obnoxious to the staff. Kind of was jarring to see such kindly staff struggling to deal with this jerk. I will say kudos to them for keeping their cool and trying to appease him. If the girlfriend has any brains she will dump him because if this is how he treats others how does she think he will eventually treat her? Sad how this one person ruined an otherwise romantic night for my wife and I. I hope the staff here keep up the good service. read more

Customers Beware!!.....Tonight I placed an order to go....A number 6 which their menu says cost $10.50.......Number 7 which the menu says $10.50.....They charged 11.50 for each order!!.....My brother picked the food up and didn't know the prices......It gripes my hind end to be over charged, this is not the first time this has happened!!......If you order a combination dinner at most Chinese restaurants, they will give you soup to go FREE, IF you bring a container to put it in....Not Golden Palace!!....They said they do not give soup with the combination dinners....If this is the case, they are really tight wads!!....Looks like I will be going to the Panda Inn next time I place an order!!.....I think the Golden Palace is a cheat.....and a tight wad!!....I will not be going back!!....no way!!....I work to hard for my money to be over charged!!.... read more

This is our go to Chinese restaurant in Longview. Food is always good and service fast and friendly. Back page of the large menu has combination dinners with a senior discount and okay to mix and match at the higher price. I get one with the pork chow mien, less the chow mien noodles. We always have some to take home for a breakfast or two for me. Carafes of wine are reasonable and dinner includes good tea. read more

Went in for Lunch on Sunday, 11/15. Ordered #2 with side of Fried Wontons and fried Rice. Wontons were delivered cold and stale. Asked for fresh and warm appetizer. Was delivered the same stale batch but warm. Not fresh. The fried rice was not fresh as well which was very evident. The fried shrimp were not cooked all the way through. The only item digestible was the Pork Chow Mein and Sweet & Sour Chicken. They refused to credit the inedible wonton off the bill or offer a credit against the under cooked fried shrimp. Don't walk in these doors. The microwave is used far too often!!! read more
