Golden Palace NEVER disappoints. When we come to town, from Seattle, we try to hit up Golden Palace every time for the Szechuan dinner. Our absolute favorite is the General Tsoas with white meat and Singapore noodle with no onion. The hot and sour soup is my absolute favorite also. The service is very quick, which is nice, especially when you are really hungry! It's also nice to go to a restaurant, with your family, and you can actually hear each other talk and enjoy each others company, rather than trying to yell over some loud music playing. (That is not cool when some restaurants are so loud you can't hear the person sitting across from you! ANNND lastly, the bathrooms are ALWAYS clean!!! Yummo. Thank you for a wonderful meal. We selected the dinner for two. The really cool option with this place you can ask for anything on the menu not just the handful of examples. For $21 a person we had general Tao with a thinner than other restaurants, sauce is bursting with flavor. Mongolian beef was spot on for me. Super tender beef slices with a touch of heat without the lip tingles. The table service was good glasses kept full and tea was hot. This is hands-down, the best Chinese food in Longview area. Their honey walnut shrimp is to die for. I love their steamed bao and their steamed rice is always fluffy. I've eaten at several places and this is definitely hands-down. The best beef broccoli as well. I like their house tea. They have a mix of Chinese and American decor and their bathroom is clean. Took my 83 year old mom to lunch on a visit. Service was good. Could tell it was a popular place for the senior citizen crowd, probably due to the very affordable lunch specials. Ordered the cashew chicken chow mein and sweet and sour chicken and mom ordered broccoli beef. Mine reminded me of something a housewife would make in the 70's. ( again, probably why it's popular with the senior crowd )not a cashew to be found. Orange chicken was moist and broccoli beef tasty. We had a recommendations that this place was OK/good... Let me tell you do not eat here!! We had some of your standard dishes, such as, pot stickers, sweet-and-sour pork, ginger beef, a couple eggrolls, seafood mixed with vegetables, and hot and sour soup. The ginger beef was undercooked, the eggrolls were particularly gross and greasy, and the pot stickers fell apart at the touch! The sweet and sour pork and seafood medley with vegetables (it's called 3 Delicacies) were okay at best with the scallops being really tiny and gross and the snow peas were borderline rotten. Heard it was in town for almost 20 years. Golden Palace Restaurant & Lounge is located by the corner of 14th Ave and Hudson St. Man this place its indeed JAM PACKED with lots of patrons. Perhaps it was the weekend. Perhaps is this the One and Only Szechuan and Cantonese restaurant in town. Perhaps so. The decor is "SO Grand" as if you are dining in a Palace. With golden linen table and red clothe napkins. The ceiling is filled with Chinese lanterns and the walls decorated with Chinese paintings. We were seated promptly. The waitstaffs gave us the menu, with the tea in a pot, water and small little cups for our tea without us asking. Is this a norm practice? Perhaps so. The menu is endless. Many to choose. Where to begin?? Anyways, since it was a Szechuan Cantonese restaurant, I ask the waitstaff if they have one of the dish I was eyeing for. Unfortunately, this restaurant does not offer. Oh well.. Anyways we opt for these : * Fried Wan Tons * Hubs order was the Combo #3 that contains the Cashew Chicken Chow Mein, Sweet & Sour Chicken and Fried Rice * My order was Mandarin Fried Squid with Hot Sauce These are strips of squid breaded and deep fried in spicy mandarin sauce over crispy rice noodles. Our dishes were not as spicy as we requested for. Though it has the flavor just nice and Hubs did not expect his dish to be served the way it was. We have leftovers and decide to have to go boxes. Hubs and I rate this place 3.5 stars. We dont mind going back to this restaurant if we are in Kelso/Longview, WA. Perhaps I would be more adventurous to order things "unfamiliar" for me. This was my first time here for take out. The hostess/receptionist was extremely nice, helpful,efficient, and cheerful even though they were very busy. She really made my first experience here! The food smells amazing! I didn't see a menu online but I called in and the hostess gave me the website to see the full menu which I appreciated greatly. I highly recommend this restaurant. I placed at to go order at 530 PM for the family combination D. I informed them it was for 4 individuals. I told them I would be there to pick up my food around 6. I arrived at the restaurant at 630 PM. They were very polite and greeted me promptly. For the dinner it was $50, including tip. I thought that was a reasonable price for the huge bag of food I received. I didn't receive it till 640 PM. Not a big deal. While waiting for the food I looked around. It was busy. The decor is very beautiful. Colorful and classy. I brought the food home to the family. SOOOOO YUMMY. I woke up in the middle of the night and threw up everything. A couple hours later my girlfriend did the same thing...

I'm kinda unhappy with the food and to go packaging. i only had to drive home and this order was in a basket so it wouldn't tip over and it didn't but it leaked all over the bag, all over my counter and all over me. Their service was slow at first but I'm glad I stuck out the long wait and time to be served. The duck is amazing. It is actually crispy, not too fatty and has an awesome texture. I ordered it hoping the chef could pull it off and he did. The wonton soup could have been passed up. It tasted more like water and less like broth. The meat in the wonton soup tasted like unseasoned hamburger. It could use some pork and ginger, but that's just what I'm used to. The flavor could improve nevertheless. I would not order that again here, ours looked like a frozen, then fried hockey puck of egg something with brown gravy.... so sad. This has become a customary haunt when in Longview and the craving for Chinese rears it's head. Longview is somewhat limited in restaurant choices, so at this point in my life where I refuse to waste a calorie unless I like what I'm eating, I make sure it's worth it. I've tried several items on the menu and so far, as an appetizer, I always move toward the Barbecued Pork. The price point on the fried won tons is a bit high, the pot stickers are big and clumsy to eat and they take forever on this item because it's made from scratch, so your meal could easily be cooked before this appetizer is finished being made. Egg rolls, well...mine were greasy and the flavor wasn't there, paper wrapped chicken...eh...I haven't had the steamed Bou yet, but I'm generally not a huge fan of Chinese seamed buns. It seems we always start with their sizzling rice soup. It's honestly the best sizzling rice soup in Longview and really hits the spot. A small order more than covers 2 people. I would guess that easily there is enough for 4 servings in the small size. The beef with oyster sauce is quite tasty. I've tried a couple other beef dishes here and have decided this is my favorite. From the seafood menu, I have found that the honey walnut shrimp is actually quite good. I tried the Moo Goo Gai Pan...not a fan. So I suppose you might say that the entrees are hit and miss with some items that shine in areas of flavor and freshness.
