The food is very good we enjoyed our dinner very much. The service was very good and attentive. The restaurant is small but very cozy and comfortable. We will definitely be back next year.

10/26/25 - After the Posten Pilgrimage ended my wife and I decided to go to Lake Havasu City. We went to Lake Havasu about 45 minutes north of Parker AZ. We had a craving for Chinese food. We found Golden Phoenix in a small strip mall. The restaurant had good reviews so we decided to check it out. We kept it light and ordered a fried tofu dish w/mixed vegetables stir fried. This was well prepared the fried tofu was very good & the stir fried vegetables were cooked to perfection. For us this means stir fried so the vegetables aren't overcooked & still maintain a nice texture & color. Nothing worse than overcooked vegetables. This dish was pretty good. We also ordered fish fillet w/scallion cut green onions & baby bok choy (meh kind of bland & tasteless. This dish wasn't very good. The server was very good.

Really wish I could rate this place higher but I can't. Came here on a Friday evening and was sat by a both by the door. Restaurant was pretty much empty and we were really surprised by how slow the service was. We never got our menus and had to look on yelp for the menus. Server came around about 30 min after sitting us down to ask if we have any questions, we said no and then she walked away...I can understand how our response no could mean we're good but this was the first time we met her, like how about a hi how are you lol. Anyway we ordered our food and we got a lot of different options like the sweet and sour soup (pictured bellow), orange chicken, king pow chicken and the happy family. All the food was really good and flavorful; and this is why I wish I could rate this place higher. The service taking over 30 min before we even talked to anyone and other booths being sat down before us and getting their orders in and food in before us was just no acceptable. To add to that, one of the chiefs was sitting behind us in one of the booths with some customers that were food critics and sat and talked to them about all the food they were ordering and his opinion on them and he makes them all. Not cool golden phoenix

Fried rice (no flavor, no veggies??) just brown rice.

If you've only ever lived in the Lake Havasu bubble and haven't experienced real Chinese cuisine, you might think this place is good. (Think: snowbirds with a very limited palate.) But for anyone who isn't from Havasu and has actually tasted quality Chinese food, this place is a major disappointment. Walking in you're greeted with a bunch of elderly patrons (snowbird season) who are cheerfully eating their Chinese cuisine. The restaurant was apparently recently remodeled and looked pretty nice inside. We sat ourselves and waited about 5-10 minutes before someone walked over to take our order. Except - we didn't have any menus to look at so we couldn't exactly do that. Havasu doesn't offer many options--fast-food Chinese or a spot owned by someone I wouldn't want to give business to--so we ventured out hoping for something different. While the service was friendly and attentive, the food itself completely missed the mark. For the price, I honestly would've rather gone to the local steakhouse for steak and lobster. I gasped when i saw the prices but was reassured when our waitress boasted that we had ordered "a lot of food" more on that later ., Everything was BLAND. No flavor. No spice. No salt. No sweet. No sour. Nothing. Paper Wrapped Chicken Looks authentic at first glance, but tastes like absolutely nothing. Tiny pieces of unseasoned chicken. Not worth the price. Fried Rice If "rice with a splash of soy-colored water" was a dish, this would be it. No peas, no carrots, no veggies at all. Just plain rice. Spring Rolls Meh. Probably the best thing I ate, which isn't saying much. Egg Flower Soup Tasteless. Sweet & Sour Pork No sweet. No sour. Just a red gelatin-like sauce covering fried pork, peppers, and pineapple. The pork alone was maybe an 8, but the dish overall had no flavor. Mongolian Beef No flavor profile whatsoever. Beef was just okay. Chicken Chow Mein Where's the chicken? Or literally anything else that's supposed to be in this dish? Just noodles and disappointment. My parents ordered the walnut shrimp and chicken curry and swore it was good. I just looked at them like they were crazy. Have they had authentic Chinese food? Yes! But when you're living in the bubble with only three Chinese options in town, I guess this automatically becomes "the best." Our total bill? $148. Not including tip. That's $37 per person. For what? Tiny soup bowls of small portions, and barely any flavor. At any decent Chinese restaurant (honestly, even Panda Express), we would've ordered the same amount of food (or more) and still had leftovers for days and half the price. In fact i calculated it after we got home and it would have been about 93 bucks. So here we are .. we walked out with one tiny box of sad fried rice, 3 pieces of pork and chicken chow mein (without the chicken). As full-time residents, I'd honestly rather drive to California--or even Parker--for Chinese food than eat here again. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't good. I strongly urge you to try something else... anywhere else. Now i know why Panda had more positive reviews.

Pleasure to meet the chef, he suggested sea bass and it was definitely good, heres to our go to Chinese restaurant.

Walnut Shrimp

I am stuffed!! Very pleased with our food tonight. I LOVE the Walnut Shrimp but hated paying $20+ for the little bit of small ones I'd get. NOW my shrimp were huge and it came with a little slaw, a strawberry, and orange slices as garnish. Very, very, delicious and I'm full! Excellent service as well. Very pretty inside, but we did take out.

Consistently delicious cuisine. The owner is amazing and he's very concerned about her customers experience.

Mongolian Beef with steamed rice.

It had been a very long time since I had been to Golden Phoenix. When you walk in you find a table yourself and a server will bring you the menus. The food was delicious. I ordered Mongolian Beef and it had the perfect amount of spice. My Mother-In-Law ordered Moo Goo Gai Pan and she was pleased with her dish. The service was slow. They had one friendly server working the dining room. You had to wait patiently for refills and the bill. I will visit again to try some different dishes.

Servers are always friendly, the restaurant isn't very large so tables fill up fast during dinner hours, especially during winter (snowbird season). Often times I just order and pick up to dine at home during the busy season. Best chinese food in town, IMO. It's a casual atmosphere. The food is tasty, but sometimes inconsistent with ingredients. Once there was very little chicken and mostly chow mein, the next time there was adequate chicken in my order. I now stick with the shrimp with lobster sauce and it's consistently very good. Hubby usually orders the curry chicken. Tip: park in the back if there is not room to park in front.

Appetiser platter

My mother has lived in Havasu for quite some time and has dined here many times over the years. She'd experienced some lacklustre meals awhile back and stopped coming but had heard that some recent changes at the restaurant were showing much promise. Our recent excursion proved that feedback to be more than accurate. Our dinner was some of the best Chinese food I've had. (and we have much to choose from in California's Bay Area!) The broth in the Wor Wonton soup was spot on - flavourful and balanced packed with bright vegetables, tender shrimp, chicken, and beef. The appetiser platter that we shared was beautifully presented and the eggrolls delightfully spiced, with everything crispy and tasty. Each of our entrees were uniquely flavoured and delicious - accompanied by fluffy fried rice. Note, we chose the Golden Phoenix Dinner for $24.95 per person which included the Wor wonton soup, appetisers, fried rice and your choice of any entree on the menu (except duck). An excellent value for this quality and the freedom to choose from a large selection of entrees. This experience was a marvellous surprise and my Mom was absolutely delighted! Service was thoughtful and gracious. We will absolutely be back on our next visit to Havasu! This Phoenix has risen!!

Our first time here - Good, friendly, efficient service. I ordered General Tso's chicken and it was cooked perfectly and had great flavor! I would order it again. Husband had Mongolian Beef I thought it was so-so. Prices were average. Clean restaurant and busy!

We had beef on a skewer that tasted fantastic but it was four tiny pieces. We had crab Rangoons, I only saw one tiny piece of crab. The rangoons were really tiny. There were six of those. Our main dishes were kung pao chicken and beef with black pepper sauce. We chose spicy dishes because that's what we enjoy. These could have used a bit more spice but they were good. I was disappointed that they don't offer white rice. We had the choice of fried rice or noodles. We chose fried rice because we have never heard of noodles with Chinese food. Of everything we had, I'd rate the rice as something I wouldn't order again. It was dry and tasteless. Dinner came to $70 with a 20% tip and there were no leftovers. This is very unusual for us with Chinese food. We live in Maine and at this price point we would have left the restaurant near us in Maine with enough leftovers for dinner for two twice. But I know this isn't Maine. Service was great until we got our food. No one checked back to see if we needed anything and the server who presented the check never asked if we enjoyed it. The restaurant was clean. We would stop again but I can't give it 5 stars.

We had a hard time finding anything that tasted fresh. Most of the food was either fried or heavily covered in sauce, and there weren't many lighter or freshly prepared options. The hibachi station was especially disappointing because it was out of meats every time we went back, making it difficult to actually enjoy one of the main attractions of the restaurant. While the prices are relatively inexpensive, I still felt it was expensive for the quality of the food we received. In the end, none of us ate very much, and we ended up going somewhere else for dinner afterward. The customer service was perfectly fine, and the staff was courteous. However, one thing that really stood out in a negative way was a young man handling food who had extremely long fingernails on both hands. That's simply not something I want to see from someone preparing or serving food I'll be eating. I hope they improve the freshness of the food and keep the hibachi station consistently stocked, because the restaurant has potential. As it stands, though, it just wasn't an experience our family would repeat.
