I dont even write reviews on places, but this place had me ready to write on after eating there... First off, prices are good and its a decent amount of food for what you pay, hence the ONE star they did get. The food is AWEFUL! I have no clue how they have 4 stars unless its the employees and family. I am a big fan of chinese food and love trying new places. I had the General Tso's Chicken with fried rice and hot and sour soup. The soup was really bland with a major lack of flavor and the crisps they gave me to put in it were beyond stale. The fried rice had chunks of pork in it giving the rice a pork flavor. This might be good for some, but i dont eat pork and that made the rice inedible for me. Lastly, the chicken was easily the worst attempt at General Tso's Ive had. The sauce was very ketchup-y and thick and just gross. It was like McDonalds made an attempt at a chinese dish and it was not a good thing. Wont be going back. read more

This places is really set up for take out. They have a few tables available and the food was very good. As we had our lunch I would say 80% of the people came in to pick up a To Go order. If you eat in the ultisols are plastic, probably the same ones in your go bag. But again, the food was very good. I may consider this place for a Chinese picnic lunch in the park. So, three stars as a sit down restaurant and probably 5 stars for local take out. read more

I really like the food, it is delivered hot and taste good. Delivery was nice and online ordering is pretty good. My two complaints, the food the next day has made me very thirsty and a little itchy so I think they put a lot of msg in the dishes. The other thing is that the hot and sour soup is not good. The other food, specifically the triple delight is incredible but I typically pick my Chinese food by the hot new sour but they have a lot of other soup choices. No lunch special, which my favorite is egg roll, chicken wings and fried rice with the meal. The dinner delivery containers are not that big for the money compared to my old favorite Imperial Garden but Imperial changed the management/food so Imperial literally makes me sick so Golden Pot place wins. Just remember to ask them not to use MSG. Shrimp egg roll is yummy. Scallops are good, Mei Fun is okay and I actually used the soup to make the noodle juicy, General iis yummy plus free but my favorite is triple delight. Went in Noon Saturday 12/20. Place smelled funny. Hopefully an easily resolvable plumbing issue. Observed the wide open kitchen and decided it looked clean enough to try. Chefs were prepping large containers of items for the evenings take out and delivery. I didn't see anything to make me think they weren't doing a great job. We ordered! Seated ourselves after ordering 3 Lunch Specials, Hot and Sour soup, and Steamed Rice. We were served our soup in to go containers, with plastic spoons and knives. The spoon and fork were odd, didn't fit for eating in. I hate eating soup with a plastic spoon. It was a little bigger than baby spoon size. Really! The soup came out first, It was hot, sometimes you go to these places and you get luke warm soup, this wasn't. The soup was nicely thickened and had a nice consistency of tofu, veggies, and shrooms. The soup had a very good flavor. I wished they had some vinegar on the tables, as I like mine fairly sour. Please add vinegar and pepper flakes to the tables. All in all, much better than the last 5 or 6 most places I have been recently. I eat Chinese at least once a week. I ordered the General's Tso's Chicken. I grade my Chinese restaurants on this dish, if you have read my reviews, you would know. It was smoking hot, just out of the Wok, but the broccoli on the side was ice cold. They plated the broccoli without reheating it after they had blanched it. That sucked! I don't eat anything that isn't hot unless I cook it! The sauce on the chicken was very thick, and not running all over the plate.. The chicken was crispy and flavorful. The plate besides the broccoli was a delight to eat. My friends ordered the Chicken with mixed vegetables, and the Beef with mixed vegetables. They said both were very good, and hot as served. The vegetables in each dish werer perfectly cooked, tender crisp, and not soggy. Woo hoo! They stated that the sauce was a good stir fry sauce and they didn't have any issues with the flavor. Not too much garlic, not too little garlic, etc. We ordered the steamed rice with all the dishes and it was well made, and plenty for the lunch specials. The hostess was very nice. read more

They messed up my order & denied me a refund. I paid $15 for 1 box of rice & they offered to refund $7 & lied & said they serve peas in their St. Louis style shrimp fried rice when I paid an extra $2 to add carrots & $2 to add extra onions, I informed the lady that they gave me the regular fried rice by mistake & not St. Louis style because I order it almost every week & the rice looked different & she begin to argued with me. We order from Golden Pot at least once a week (I've never eaten in store), and we love it! They have the best egg rolls and fried rice. Sometimes, they get fancy and send fried rice with pork in it, other times it's plain. They send free Crab Rangoon when your order is over $25 and my kids love them so that works out well. My favorite dish is the Dragon and Phoenix. It's half General Tso's and half coconut shrimp. The shrimp are huge and always cooked perfectly. My kids always get the sweet and sour chicken, and the hubby's order varies. We've yet to have a bad experience and delivery is always super quick. I think I've ordered from every Chinese place in McKinney and this is the best by far. read more

That was the nastiest egg foo young I have ever had. It was burnt on 1 side. The cook tried to hide it by putting the burnt side face down. I took 1 bite and spit it out. I was so mad I asked for a refund. The hot and sour soup was way to spicey. It looked as if the cook only used red peppers to season it. Also some of the worse hot and sour soup I have ever had. This may be the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. I read the reviews and decided it was worth the chance because it was super busy on a Tuesday night. I was completely wrong! This place is disgusting inside with dirty bathroom and filthy walls. I ordered the "Honey Chicken" which was breaded chicken that was 80% breading with a tiny piece of chicken inside. It was covered in a syrupy sweet sauce that was gross. You could taste the old oil the chicken was fried in. The broccoli was ice cold like it came from a refrigerator. The rice had a yellowish-brown tint to it as if it had been boiled in dishwater. I ate two bites of my meal and walked out. That is the only time I have ever had a meal so disgusting that it was not edible. I will NOT be back to this place. read more

I placed an online order with them, and when my dad went to pick it up he said an 8 year old boy waited on him. The little boy had to ask what the meal had in it, and then proceeded to hand my dad our bag of food. I open it up and everything in it is wrong, it is obviously someone else's order. We're starving so we run back up there to get our correct order, and a teenage girl waits on us. I tell her the order is completely wrong, and who I assume is mom comes over. Mom and daughter go back and forth for several minutes discussing something, questioning me about how I placed the order, I say multiple times that I placed it through the website and I show them my order confirmation. They then ask me if I want to place my order again, and I say yes, but that I need some kind of refund for all this hassle. The mother then refunds me, and stands there for a minute or two... I ask about my order. She asks "Do you want to place the order?" Then proceeds to ring me up for my original order with no discount. I ask if she is going to offer me a substantial discount for all this trouble (which is the proper thing to do after all of this confusion, I shouldn't have to ask), and she shakes her head no like it was a crazy request, and then says she can give me 35% off. I tell her not to worry about making my food, I will be leaving. Also, while all of this went on, the daughter tries to pawn off the food I brought back to it's correct customer... I've already opened it at home! Eww, no! I made sure to tell the customer that, and she was appalled they were trying to get out of making her a new, fresh order. I will never come back to this laughable business with horrendous customer service. read more

This was our first visit here, but it will definitely won't be our last. We started with egg drop soup. It was a large single serving. It was hot and we received a little bag of wonton chips to add some crunch. They also brought out a complimentary order of crab rangoon. It was delicious with their yummy sweet and sour sauce. I shared an order of coconut shrimp. The shrimp were huge and plentiful. Hubby ordered the pork with garlic sauce. I scored a bite or 2 from his plate. I thought it was great. (He thought it could be spicier.) We ate in, but I assume most of their business is take out or delivery. We ate on Styrofoam plates with plastic cutlery.
