Roast beef on a croissant with cheese!

I have been coming here since I was a young girl -it's amazing. Massive sandwiches, wonderful memories, and an amazing selection. The staff are friendly and the food is SO good. Prices have gone up over the years, but it's so worth it. There is a selection of deli meats, cheeses, salads, hot food such as lasagna and schnitzel, and a wide range of imported yummies on the shelves. I LOVE the Golden Rooster - it's always on my list when I'm in Kingston. Grab a tray and relax in their seating area, or take it to go for the best pic-nic food you will ever eat! Keep up the good work, Rooster!

This place is always busy and requires you to take a number before being served, but the staff are fast and efficient and they serve a variety of hot comfort food as well as your choice of different deli sandwich combinations. I had a chicken pot pie and my friend had lasagna. We got it to go but there are plenty of tables to sit at especially since their recent renovation. If you want good, inexpensive , wholesome and tastey food this is a great place to go for lunch.

My fiancé's own words about this place. He doesn't have Yelp because his phone is old and lousy, so I posted the review for him.

Very decent sandwiches. Crowded but sometimes inexplicably so. Easy place to grab a bite but reminds me of a place I'd take my grandmother.

BEST REUBEN IN TOWN! And the only slaw I've ever liked. There's a reason why it's always busy!

A gem of a bakery and cafe in downtown Kingston!…read more My review is only for the bakery and store portion of Pan Chancho. I haven't had the chance to dine in the cafe yet, mostly because it gets extremely busy, especially on weekends. That said, the bakery/store has so many great finds. Their bread is excellent quality and a great value for the size, at around $5 for a small loaf and $8 for a larger one. My favorite is the olive rosemary sourdough, which is absolutely delicious. The saucisson sec is another great local find. The baked goods offer a nice rotating variety, with everything from Québec maple chômeurs to Italian maritozzi. On my last visit, I tried the Vietnamese coffee panna cotta, which was excellent. There's also an large gluten-free selection, ranging from breads to fresh-baked goods. The gluten-free scones are a particular standout. Beyond the food, Pan Chancho also has a great selection of kitchen and pantry-related items, including spices, pasta, sauces, hand towels, reusable bags, and more. It's the kind of place where you can go in for a loaf of bread and easily leave with a whole bag of interesting little things. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in downtown Kingston! The bakery alone is reason enough to visit, even if you don't get a chance to sit down at the cafe.

Coming from NC, the filling tasted like the inside of a pecan pie. Delicious! My Americano coffee was strong and hit the spot. My MIL and I also purchased baguettes and a cinnamon roll. All exceptional quality!

The place is a bit dated and could use some fresh updates to the decorating, but it was still charming, comfortable seating, had tv to watch...but was VERY hot inside. My trip to Kingston fell, of course, during that heat dome event...and I already HATE summer and hot weather. The temperature in the restaurant wasn't terrible but I was sweating. Turned out to be worth it. They have a full bar and Laura, my server, made me a pineapple mimosa on request. She looked to be handling the fairly busy place by herself with help from I believe the owner or manager. She handled everything very well and wasn't too busy to tell me Happy Birthday (I had on a shirt and she was one of the few people who did) and chat a bit and be friendly. I appreciated that. She was obviously very hot running inside and out to the patio tables, but she maintained her composure and worked very hard. I ordered the breakfast poutine and they added the pulled pork to it when I asked. I also got a side of the baked beans. The fries were very fresh, crispy and tender. There were scrambled eggs, fresh crumbled bacon, cheese sauce and that glorious pulled pork on top. I really enjoyed this dish. Great idea, breakfast poutine! While eating I got to speak the owner (I believe she was). She was from Arizona so we are both dual citizens. We had a good talk about Dump decimating the US. The owner is a very liberal, accepting, kind person. Makes you feel good to support businesses run by compassionate people. The service was great. Food was phenomenal. Yes, the beans were so tasty too. Kind staff. Cute decor. I am returning to Kingston in October and will definitely be stopping in at Tommy's again. Fantastic diner food!
