    Bacon eggs and toast breakfast
    Mark M.

We stopped in for breakfast while we were in town for a family function. The restaurant is located in New Middletown. It is very clean inside and the servers were friendly and efficient. The breakfast menu had a lot of variety. I ordered the breakfast biscuit sandwich with home fries. The home fries were okay they could have been seasoned a little bit more. The biscuit sandwich was very good. Someone at our table ordered the pancakes and they were huge and delicious. My wife ordered the eggs and toast and The breakfast was well prepared and tasty. A little off the beaten path but if you're looking for someplace to go for a nice morning drive and meal I would recommend it.

We have come here for a couple years now after a week of family vacation in PA. The staff is great but the coffee is very watery and after a week of drinking, we always look forward to a good cup. The wait is usually pretty long to get our food and the food is just mediocre. The gravy is pretty good with a good amount of flavor but overall, nothing too exciting. Great family atmosphere though, perfect for little kids.

The food was very good. The waitresses give attitude though and we had to wait 10 minutes for a waitress to come seat us.

Always good food and service. Can be a little busy and they have limited hours, but it's worth the wait.

Such a great breakfast spot. Service is always great and the food never disappoints. The Golden Rye truly gives the "mom and pop" vibe.

After watching several parties file in just before us, I was sure we'd have a wait but was pleasantly surprised when we were seated right away. The dining room is full of old photos chronicling the history of the business and the key individuals involved in its success. Our waitress was amazing and was as available as she could be, considering the crowd on hand. We all ordered from the Sunday Features menu with two of us ordering the steak dinner, two orders of the wing platter, and one fajita salad with steak. The fries and boneless wings on the platter were crispy and fresh. I'm not sure if the bleu cheese was homemade or not but it was delicious and creamy. I had the steak dinner with no onions and asked for it medium rare. The person next to me asked for the same, but more towards well done. I think our steaks came out looking identical; both had a little pink. Despite that, the steaks were juicy and flavorful and covered in a hearty gravy. We both agreed that the side of green beans were bland and needed a little seasoning, at least. The mashed potatoes were fine. My boyfriend loved the fajita salad, particularly the chipotle dressing. The parking lot extends across the street and it is a little dangerous crossing that busy road, especially during dusk.

The offerings on this Friday were either a Haddock dinner or a Shrimp dinner. I opted for the Haddock dinner, which came with your choice of haluski, pierogies or macaroni and cheese. I selected pierogies. It also came with coleslaw, and a little cup of tartar sauce. The dinner was very good. The Haddock had a nice coating that was seasoned with a little black pepper that gave it a tasty kick. The menu for this Sunday is your choice of a Swiss Steak dinner or a Creamed Chicken over Biscuit dinner. I met Jim, the owner, and he told me that has been in the restaurant business for 34 years. I'll definitely be back for more!

The beef for burgers is locally sourced from a local farm, the beef on a weck is from Buffalo, the cheesesteak buns are excellent and fresh. Everything we tried was delicious! Would def dine here again. We were all stuffed!

Examples of foods are omelettes, waffles, salads, corn dip, sandwiches, pork chops, steaks, salmon, and lobster ravioli. Drinks include both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Catering is available. Through this restaurant's website, I made a reservation for dinner for my husband and me. Our table was available on time, and the seating hostess gave us a small table outside. I felt thankful that we were in the shade, because two other tables of customers had sun shining in their eyes. We enjoyed watching cats and horses roaming in the yard nearby. Our waitress had friendly communication but very slow service with errors. During our main course, she never checked in on us, so my husband never received salt that he needed. Furthermore, at the end of our meal, we waited a long time to receive our bill. She took our credit card and many minutes later gave us only an itemized slip, not the customer and merchant copies to sign. Many minutes later, we had to give her our credit card a second time, and she finally gave us the customer and merchant copies. My overall rating is still a positive 4 stars because the foods overall tasted very good. Our starter was the Bread Basket, which contained three types of bread--cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, and focaccia with dipping oil. My main course was Pistachio Glazed Salmon, which had moist salmon, a delicious pistachio-lime-cilantro glaze, and a side of coconut rice. I chose coleslaw as my side, and it was OK. My husband's main course was the Surf & Turf, which had a 6-ounce filet mignon cooked as requested, a jumbo lump crab cake that was very meaty, and mashed potatoes. His side was a tasty butternut-squash soup. The total price was $98 plus tax and tip.
