Aside from bizarre parking, is it on the side or back.. anyway once you figure that part out, you made the right choice. If you're looking for "bang for your buck" and a place to bring the fam to enjoy a full meal, Golden Taste is the restaurant for you. Is it the best Chinese food? Nope, might be in OC though, for sure. The food is prepared with care and delivered to your table with a smile. The two must haves are green beans and peppered shrimp, these are major stand outs. Service was professional, helpful and fun. Restaurant is comfortable, inviting and welcoming. I love how they scream, thank you as you walk out the door. I started ordering from this location over a year ago. The name then was 88 Cafe. Today I looked for them and couldn't find that name online. I had my son find the old menu and order. The food is good. I love the garlic enhancement. It's not too much for me. We ordered Chicken lo mein as well as Beef lo mein. Both were good. Crab puffs, spring rolls and fried rice were good. You won't be surprised or disappointed. It's typical Chinese food. I found the new staff to be friendly. I understand the concern of a previous reviewer. Once we received our dinner it look really good and hopefully delicious and guess what it was all the above. The pork fried rice could have a little more seasoning in my opinion but other than that all the food was good and I would recommend trying this place out if you like Chinese food. Food was mediocre at best not very good at all Chinese food at all shrimp was weird and mushy BBQ pork was all dried out sweet and sour pork was super dried out and cooked to hell like the meat was hard like really bad beef jerky and not even the fried rice was good The Mongolian beef was OK could've used more meat less vegetable and the cashew chicken was more like chicken and celery like chicken chow mein with hardly any cashews in it at all. We have been here twice to try different dishes. The interior hasn't changed much from the last 2 name/management/owner variations. It's comfortable but with an old ambience. The staff seems pleasant but not very friendly and they're not attentive to providing drink refills or coming back to the table for a check in. We were hoping for some more soy sauce and drink refills but our server very obviously took a path around our table each time she passed. The food is served hot and in large portions. The flavor of the dishes is ok. Nothing stood out as very good for us. We chose the hot & sour soup, a large bowl of wonton soup, the Mongolian chicken plate and the sweet and sour pork plate. We have a couple of favorite Chinese food spots and this just didn't rank anywhere near the top of our favorites list. I would recommend giving them a try. Came here on a Sunday night specifically with wonton soup in mind. When I have the sniffles, a steaming bowl of wonton soup is the best remedy. Anyway, of everything we ordered, the wonton soup was my least favorite. That didn't put a damper on the experience, as everything else we ordered was great. Pay attention to the menu though, as our sesame chicken was spicy! My kids gobbled everything and the service was outstanding. We'll be back. read more

We had the.. - Salt & Pepper Shrimp - Mongolian Chicken - Egg Flower & Hot & Sour Soup We eat a lot of Asian food all over the Portland area. We were incredibly impressed with the authenticity of the food. The salt & pepper shrimp was some of the best I have ever had! When we walked in every seat was filled. Considering that big of a rush they did really well. In addition to the delicious food the staff was amazing. We met Steven and his mother who own the restaurant and they were lovely! We had heard that this restaurant has amazing food. Since it changed owners we had not been there yet. We finally went and we absolutely loved the food, service and the cleanliness. Yen, who served us was awesome and just an all around beautiful person. When we were paying our bill she came back and gave me a rose and told me that I was pretty and that I was a very nice person. I have been to the Golden Taste 4 times now and the food is amazing, I like that they don't use any MSG. The staff are very friendly and they make sure the customers are satisfied. The prices are very reasonable for the amount they serve. Last week I had misplaced my debit card, they went the extra mile to make sure I knew where it was, they ran a small payment on my card and then immediately reversed the charge so I knew where it was. Thank you as this was a life saver so to speak. The atmosphere is quiet, it still has the old booths and it's a bit outdated however I can overlook that. The one thing I wish they had on the menu would be EGG FOO YOUNG. This has become my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. Keep up the great work. read more

Ordered on grub hub. The food was so yummy!!! Ordered ginger beef, general tso, and orange chicken. I loved that you could really taste the ginger in the beef, orange chicken wasn't super sweet like some places. Next time I'll ask for the general tso's to be spicier, but I feel like that's pretty normal anywhere I go. I loved that the chicken was solid pieces of chicken breast without any questionable bits like some places. So happy I tried it. read more

Cashew nut chicken is shockingly bland. Not a brown sauce more of a clear broth. Very little chicken or cashews, TONs of celery. Celery stir fry would be a more accurate name. Kung pao chicken was a similar story being a bit bland and having a poor chicken go veggie ratio. It was a lot better than the cashew nut but one of the worst I've tried. Mongolian beef was decent. Your classic Chinese restaurant vinyl booths were clean and comfy. Staff was friendly, but slow. Ended up ordering online using a QR code. Why? 95% of a good meal is heat. Has to arrive hot. It did. That took us to 3 stars and I refuse to go further. I had the General Tao's combination with sweet and sour chicken, egg flour soup, and pork fried rice. $20. On the S/S chicken...The ratio of breading to chicken is 73:1. Maybe 3 ozs of dry old chicken in the serving. Not exaggerating. But it was hot. On the General Tsao's, The ratio of high fructose corn syrup to flavor is 47:1. Same deal. It was hot. All show, no grow. Not sure what made the "pork fried rice" pork fried. No pork. No veggies. No flavor. The soup was very hot and tasty. Maybe the best part of the meal. You're limited to one soda refill in your big plastic cup...but I never had the chance. She never stopped by twice to ask if I wanted more. They do have free toothpicks and you get a fortune cookie. Just one. read more

It's not bad, but it's not something I will crave. So many of their dishes looked delicious, but as a vegetarian I can't try them. I would love to see them do the same sesame chicken and sweet & sour chicken dishes with tofu. I wouldn't go anywhere else if they offered this. This place nails flavor in every bite! The flavors are rich, authentic, and perfectly balanced. Try out the lo mein with either chicken, shrimp or beef. Portions are huge so you definitely get your moneys worth. Family friendly spot and even has a bar for adults on the other side of the restaurant. Food is authentic and tastes great.
