Although the rice is additional, I love how they serve the purple rice instead of plain white! Priced reasonably about CAD $30 pp but expect to pay more if you get alcohol. Service was great! Food came fast and instructions at table for newbies. Huge air vents so you don't smell greasy after. I just wish they have a covered container for jackets. Lots of parking in the back lot.

Unlike their Korean barbeque sets, lunch takes longer to arrive as the kettle pot rice is made to order. It's worth the wait to allow the purple rice to develop a bit of crust on the bottom and to allow the beans, chestnut, pumpkin, jujube and chickpeas to soften and seep into the rice. Given how long it takes for make the starch, I'm surprised the pork bone soup ($21.99) doesn't arrive bubbling... this stone bowl is for show only. It also lacks flavour and needed to be stewed longer as the bones were difficult to tear and grizzly to eat. As kamjatang go, this is mediocre at best. The spicy soft tofu stew ($21.99) was better, even the "medium" spicy level came out flavourful without being overpowering. And while it wasn't bubbling, this was hotter and more comforting feeling. It's just a bit stingy on the protein with few slices of beef but adequate amounts of tofu and vegetables. Each arrives with an array of banchan including crispy kimchi cucumber, vegetable laced japchae, a flavourful stewed eggplant, a hefty portion of rolled egg omelette, a scoop of overly sweet potato salad, savoury gelatin, and a slightly sweet creamy lotus root. Two lunch specials can be shared amongst three people, otherwise expect to leave with leftovers. Given Daldongnae wasn't busy during their weekday lunch, their service was spectacular. Still, if you go for lunch, I'd stick with their wheelhouse and order table BBQ as the stone bowl mains were not impressive. If Daldongnae wants to pump up their weekday lunch service, I'd recommend they switch to something they can execute better. Perhaps something like Haidailao where they offer table BBQ but instead of having diners ordering proteins separately, they create a mixed platter priced per person (with still a minimum of two people required).

She taught us for about... 5-8 mins in total? and then the rest of the hours we were able to design our own cakes or cupcakes. She taught us how to make flowers 2 different ways and how to use fondant moulds and change the colors of the fondant. They provided us with the tools and we were able to decorate on our own. I still feel like i learned nothing from this class. It was more just recreational fun. There was a woman that ran late and they ran out of spots for her to sit so she had to sit behind the counter. She was not happy as these seats were pre-booked ahead of time. The moulds were on the side of the room on the window sill. Everyone had to bend down and wait for another person one by one to grab them and had to go around the tables to ask for the spray bottles, food coloring and moulds. It was a fun experience for a one time thing to do. You won't learn anything you don't already know. If you want a few hours to feel like you're doing an arts and crafts kind of thing... then this is for you. I did not end up eating the cakes or the cupcakes, they tasted really bland. Really all just for looks. Will not be returning.

My buddy and I signed up for the Fondant Fun workshop (a Wilton course) which is a great intro to all things fondant. It's taught by Nimali Senaratne who shows you how to bloom flowers and coax animals out of something that resembles play-doh. We were given a 6-inch cake that was already iced, a lot of equipment, and then we went at it! She gave us a basic step by step and helpful tips & tricks as we worked. I had such an amazing time bringing out my creative side. I'd recommend their classes to anyone starting out or someone who simply doesn't have the confidence when it comes to baking. They also take cake orders and sell Wilton products if you're looking to buy.

Service 10/10 - today they had 3-4 waiters/waitresses working so there was always somebody coming in to check if things needed refills. Our waiter (sorry the name is escaping me.) was a newer parttime worker but was providing us 10 out of 10 service!! Food - 10/10 we got alot more sides than normal today for our friends to try. The tteokbokki was nice and had a deep flavor. Not too spicy and not too sweet. Rice balls was nice and soaked up the tteokbokki sauce. This time we got the half half with spicy bossam and Bbq jokbal. They were both really good flavors. The store had kpop playing at a moderate volume. But we had no issues chating away while sipping on soju. Definitely recommend!

We love how the sides are refillable but I don't think we ever ask for refills more than twice as the portion is so generous. Hanyang Jokbal has always been consistently good, and it's why we always come back. The portion of food is always plenty, the taste is unmatched and the sides are delicious. While the food took some time it was understandable as it was very busy. The waiter was very apologetic about the wait. In terms of the interior, it's just one more thing that makes this place such a good dining option. The interior makes you feel like you're not in Toronto. While it does get quite loud, I think it just shows how much people are enjoying the food and the vibe. Hanyang Jokbal is definitely a must!

Our side dishes came with our food and it wasn't too spectacular. The food was good and hot, but I've had better Korean food. Overall, I feel this place is good, but pricer end. Our 4 dishes with 10% cash discount was $85 before tip. Just the japchae alone is $27.99! Anyways, I think I would try other restaurants if I am in this area due to prices and service.

Though that isn't my favourite menu item, that would be the boiled pork belly with the most delicious savoury scallion salad accompanying it. I really like this place. My favorites were the sweet soy-braised tofu skin, japchae, and spicy cucumber salad. The hot barley tea also paired really well with the marinated seafood. Marinated Crab The platter comes with six half pieces of soy-marinated crab and six half pieces of spicy marinated crab. The soy-marinated crab tasted very traditional, with a strong sweet soy sauce flavor. Compared with another Michelin pop-up restaurant I tried before, this version was much richer and saltier. The blue crab meat had a soft, jelly-like texture from the curing process, which was impressive. However, the soy sauce became quite dominant after a few pieces, so I highly recommend pairing it with the beef tendon soup or barley tea to balance the flavors. The spicy crab, however, wasn't my favorite. Instead of the sweet, savory heat that I usually associate with Korean gochujang, it leaned more toward the direct heat of Korean chili flakes, similar to the spice level in tteokbokki. I felt the spiciness overwhelmed the natural sweetness of the crab rather than enhancing it. Marinated Shrimp I was worried that eight shrimp wouldn't be enough, but the plate was huge. They use giant tiger prawns, each about the size of my hand, so two or three are already quite filling. Because the prawns are so large, they are only lightly cured, so the meat stays firm and springy instead of becoming soft like the Cantonese-style marinated shrimp I'm more familiar with. The sweet soy marinade penetrates the meat very well, making every bite flavorful. However, after a few shrimp, the soy sauce becomes increasingly dominant and the flavor starts to feel one-dimensional. Personally, I prefer the layered flavors of Cantonese-style marinated seafood, where the freshness of the seafood is complemented by ginger, garlic, cooking wine, and fish sauce. Beef Tendon Soup This ended up being my favorite dish of the meal. The broth was rich with beef flavor and had a wonderful silky texture from the collagen released by the tendon. It paired perfectly with the marinated seafood. A sip of the soup cleansed the palate from the strong soy sauce, making the next bite of crab or shrimp taste fresh again. The tendon itself was tender and well-cooked. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the mustard soy dipping sauce served on the side. Overall, this meal felt more like experiencing two very different marinated seafood traditions. Korean-style marinated seafood emphasizes the deep savory flavor developed through soy sauce curing, while Cantonese-style marinated seafood highlights the natural sweetness of the seafood with layers of ginger, garlic, cooking wine, and fresh aromatics. Even though I personally still prefer the Cantonese style, I enjoyed experiencing this traditional Korean approach.
