Hard to say about this place. Ordered a Bud Light and was brought Bud. Ok, cool. Twice. Twice? Music was ok, not too loud. Hockey on TV. All good. Someone surreptitiously smoking. Not as cool as the smoker thinks. Dude in a booth with a COVID cough...wet n nasty. Extra bartender at about 9. Because the crowd was so large...maybe 6 people. So hard to say. Might drop in again sometime, but does not have a chill vibe for non-regulars. Dude with the cough really needs a visit to Tri-City... Ok, NOT 2nd bartender but security guy.... Time to roll. Bartender slapped my phone out of my hand. Apparently he didn't feel like making a Manhattan (he didn't, poured me whiskey neat), and apparently he didn't like getting a $100 bill, with $20 tip for said whiskey neat. He pushed some cronies on me after I had left and if I wasn't savvy enough I would have had to throw fists. Fuck this place and everything they stand for. My favorite dive bar in Carlsbad don't let the negative reviews talk you into not coming here the ones that left the negative reviews had no business being in a real dive bar anyways they should have stuck to one of the bougie bars up the street. Ok! I'll keep it short! Drinks were cheap! Bartender was super nice! Music was fine! Lots of locals! Pool tables were a little cramped. Bathrooms were absolutely terrible, they smell like Urine and Vomit! It's a dive bar, if they would fix the smell of the bathroom I'd prob come back! For now there's plenty of non funky places in town to grab a drink! You should probably give it a try at least once! read more

Justin went above and beyond tonight. My friends and I have never been to the golden tee before. My friend was really feeling some red wine. The wine service was on par with a Michelin Star restaurant. Mind blowing service. I will be a lifelong patron of the Golden Tee because of this experience. I came to Golden Tee Cocktail Lounge in Carlsbad tonite, with a girlfriend. This place in the past was a fun place to hang out with my friends. That changed on the night of Nov. 30th 2023. I was Assaulted outside the front door by a woman who I do not know. I was inside the bar and had 1 drink over 90min, and was reading my Email. I have always in the past felt safe here. The jukebox was playing, and I added some songs to the playlist. When I was done with returning Emails, my music I had selected came on for a brief moment, then suddenly changed. I asked "Chow" the manager what happened. He said to ask the only Bartender on duty, "Rob". I did, and he turned around and said, "Worst song ever made", and threw a dollar at me that landed on the floor. Then the Bartender "Rob" proceeded to tell me to leave. I was "86" for no reason, other than being at the "wrong place at the wrong time." I was outside, standing near my car parked in the handycap space after that happened, since I am physically handycapped from multiple surgeries, primarily orthopedic, talking with a few guys I have played pool with, my friends. A woman near my age, which is 62, came outside, pushed her way towards me, had her fist raised, and slugged me. I fell backwards, hit my head in 2 places, and suffered a "concussion", per the Emergency doctor on duty at Tricity. Four police cars came, a ambulance, and a fire truck. There were over 30 people outside who witnessed this, and the guys who helped me up while I sat in a puddle of water because it was raining were very kind to me. This is old news. I write this review tonight because I came to the Tee tonight, played pool for 1 hour, had half of my drink, came outside to have a cigarette, and the same bartender, "Rob", after a few minutes came outside and again said I was "86". I asked why, Rob said because "Chow" the manager wanted me to leave. I briefly went inside to say bye to my friends, and came back to my car. Why would an establishment ask someone to leave who paid for her drink, played pool for a hour, then ask her to leave. Luckily a Detective from Carlsbad Police department is currently investigating the case, and when they find this woman she will be arrested. The Golden Tee Cocktail Lounge is an unsafe place to be, especially if you are a woman. My unfortunate bad luck, but I hope someday this place and area becomes safer for all people. The same night my assault happened, I found out later by the police, a man was stabbed, found alive in this parking lot by the Golden Tee. Very scary! Sincerely, Erin Engle read more

Love it here. Cheap cocktails and chill vibe. Obviously could be more clean, but it is a dive bar. Every time I have come here as a young woman I am treated with respect and kindness by the staff. Cheap drinks but make sure to tip! I also love the photo booth. read more

Unbelievably terrible service Friday night. We came in strong after leaving a wedding. About 30 of us. The bartender was definitely high on some sort of pill, Moved like molasses, and couldn't count. He couldn't mix a drink or even pour a shot. All he was good for was opening long necks. He also gave credit cards back to the wrong people. One person in the party tried to pay his tab, and his credit had already been swiped and given away. And he couldn't say who he had given to. All he could do was a half ass apology. So much for nostalgia, I will not ever return to this bar. read more

I find it hard to believe anyone would stay here after the way the bartender talks to you. First time here and after I ordered my drink I asked if he had quarters for the pool table. He proceeded to tell me NO but you can use your legs to walk to the 7-11. He followed up with just for future reference the BAR doesn't have to give quarters for the pool tables. He is definitely on something because he could hardly stand still. Came here to visit with friends but I will make sure it's the last. As dive bars go, this is one. Old people at the bar. Two pool tables - I wouldn't know which end of the stick to use, unless I were bashing heads. Bright lights in the pool room. A friend told me we should go to the Golden Tee. I've heard about it.. but, have never been here. It's not too far off the 5 which is great for the location. We stopped by on a Wed night. It was pretty dead. Bottled domestic beers were $3.00. The pool tables were open... so free pool. Yeeha. It was slow enough we were able to get several games in then a couple wanted to play so we played dutch doubles which was fun. I have to say... this is not the place to get mixed drinks. I got a mind eraser and they do not have kahlua.... the coffee liquour that was put in the drink left a horrible taste in my mouth. Later my friend bought B 52-'s and whelp It obviously wasn't real baileys and the shot had a bad taste.. I couldn't finish it. The beers were on ice... so they weren't like really cold. The bartender was friendly and so were the customers. Before we left I got my hiney kicked playing foosball! It was a fun night! read more

Boy oh boy where do I even begin. Had one fleeting night with Bruce, it wasn't that great, so I decided to break things off. Now every time I go in he purposely takes forever to serve me. These poor individuals need new management OR new employees. The employees I encountered seemed aggressive with a HORRIBLE attitude. I wish I could give this bar negative stars, the bartender insisted that our group was giving him fake id's. When in reality we're all 23/24. He said that he "wasn't believing our squads act" and completely blew us off. He's been extremely rude to multiple customers from what I've seen. We are from out of town, and heard good things about this dive bar. I've been coming here for ten years now since I live around the corner from the bar. It's always been a good late night or Sunday spot. They have games and music and the pool tables are legit. And there's cool vibe without all the IPA hipsters looking for a place with a hundred taps (as if you'd go in and drink them all). Strong, cheap drinks, clean bathrooms, nice bartenders, jukebox, and no fancy pretentious BS. That's an all around win for me. I don't play pool, but if you like that kinda thing there are a couple of pool tables. I prefer to park it at the bar or one of the booths. Those booths are comfortable! Lovingly referred to by locals as "The Tee", this lounge has some of the best features of a dive bar that you can hope for: -Exremely low lighting (be careful who you meet here!) -Decor and furniture that has cleary been around since it was established. -Questionable bathrooms -Cheap beer. -BYOG (Bring your own grub) -Pool tables -Foos Ball .....and of course, it wouldn't be what it is without the Golden Tee Video Game from back in 1990! I haven't been in here in forever because of some ingrained stigma and ended up having an awesome time. The crowd was great and there was good music playing all night long. We had a great bartender that was always around even though it was pretty busy. I'll definitely be stopping by again soon. One thing to note: I'm not sure about the spots directly in front of the bar, but a lot of the parking lot is 2 hour parking only; if you need to leave your car over night you might want to park on a side street. read more

What a difference a year or four makes. I'd totally forgotten about The Tee since I'd written my 2007 review. When I'd stop by the nearby dry cleaner, gas station, Albertsons, and Texas Liquor, the Tee would vaguely register as That Place Where People Still Smoke Inside. A couple of weeks ago I was invited on by there. Five minutes after an incredulous "why... there...?" I was putting away Jack & Cokes, the type that use just enough Coke to change the color of the drink slightly. And then I saw three things that just shocked the crap out of me: * People smoking... OUTSIDE?! * Tourists! Yes, weekend visitors from Minnesota who'd somehow found the place and were tearing it up. * Insufferable hipsters! A few years ago any dude sporting girl jeans and geek glasses w/o lenses would be quickly dispatched to the dumpster in the back alley (along with the tourists). Wow, Tee. I'll be back! read more

Very non-assuming bar. Exactly what I was looking for after visiting the more expensive and trendy spots in Carlsbad Village. Comfy chairs at the bar, spacious booths, and friendly bartenders. Clean women's room! Patrons seem welcoming as well. I will definitely return on my next visit to the area. read more
