Ummmm best deal in town in 2026... $7 smash burger and fries!???? Delish! My dog loved the fries too, shhhh. What more could you ask for.

Lots of cute, genre correct decor.

Holy smokes, the people of Carlsbad are lucky! We have practically nothing like this, within reasonable driving distance, on our Santa Barbara Central coast area. Wifey and I were in town for a couple of days and started to explore. We went to dinner one of the nights and afterwards wandered the old town area and found this gem. The ambiance is fantastic. Having lived a few years in the UK, this place gave me welcome chills of memories of yesteryear. Since we had already ate, we had a few drinks and were served by Guy at the bar. Besides the old-world ambiance, Guy was on-point and poured Wifey and I a couple of good ones before we split to head back to the hotel. The clientele was mature, no drama, initial observations revealed a coordinated & harmonious staff, and we saw plates coming out of the kitchen that made us regret not making Hennessey's our original destination. Our adult "kids" love a good Irish/English themed pub, so we plan on coming back with them in 2025 to knock down some ice-cold adult sodas and take in the wonderful location and attentive staff.

I've been missing a strong Irish pub. So, I am on the hunt. This was number three on our recent track in North County. It reminded me of Dicks Irish Bar in Maui. Full bar. Full kitchen. Full sports. Nice outside area. I ordered the shepherds pie, TallGirl had the fish and chips. She sent the plate back, clean as a whistle. My plate was about 1/2 finished. I prefer more potatoes in my shepherds pie.. I'm Irish.. potatoes are a thing! The ratio of potato to meat seemed off. Like 2/3 meat with "some" peas and 1/4 (or less) potato. If I were to go again, I'd try the burger of the month. If you go after dark, have enough adult libations or focus on the sports you won't see the wear in the carpet. It could be refreshed, but doesn't take away from the food. Service was great! The waitstaff was quick, friendly and got all the things right!

Great service and great food. I love the Irish feeling and of course the pickle backs are notch! This place is a must stop dinner spot if in the downtown Carlsbad areas.

Bomb BOM! (Photo from the menu)

Four of us popped into Hennessey's Tavern for some drinks and to check out the Burger of the Month. We were celebrating my birthday. (Shameless self-promotion) None of us were overly hungry and we had food plans for later so we asked if they'd split the BOM into fourths, which they happily obliged. We also shared an order of Frings. The BOM was pretty bomb. Burger patty, garlic aioli, smoked cheddar cheese, grilled mushrooms, A1 Sauce, tomato, lettuce, fries, and a pickle wedge. I enjoyed my quarter of the burger. For the frings they simply added three onion rings to the fries for the four of us to share. LOL. It was my birthday so I got to have the pickle wedge. I really liked the burger. Had I been ready for dinner, I could've crushed a whole one. Good service on the covered patio in the back.

    Frisco Burger.... Nice

Fun local lunch spot with a nice patio, great back patio and bar/restaurant inside. You want breakfast? No problem. Lunch? Dinner? All kinds of Irish type dishes and drink specials all day long. Great service, today was Michelle who took good care of us. Tuna melt, good.... Chips were worth the trip. Frisco burger was perfectly cooked and fries great. Overcast today so it was quiet, but great when it warms up. Fun spot!

If we were to come back, it would be for drinks and maybe just fries for something to snack on.

I was soooo excited about the Philly connection, as I'm very familiar with cheesesteaks having lived near Philly in a past life. Well, I was sorely disappointed. We were told that the bread is flown in daily from Philly. Well, I don't know where it's coming from because it's definitely not the same bread as what they normally use there. The sandwich and meat were dry and flavorless. Totally underwhelming unfortunately. So then we saw that they made key lime pie there too! Again, I was SUPER excited because key lime pie is my favorite dessert of all time. And again...disappointment. I took one glance and saw that it was light green in color and knew I was gonna be mad. Yall, Key lime pie is yellow. You should NEVER add food coloring. That's just gross and inaccurate. The texture and flavor were also off. Texturally it was way too thick and dense, which would have been fine if it actually tasted like key lime. But it was severely lacking in that tart key lime flavor that it's known for. I'd definitely go back because of the service and vibe. But I'll maybe try a burger and the cheesecake instead.

FOOD: - hot potatoes: has a pickled radish and some sort of crème sauce that was so good - these were my husband's favorite. - chicken satay: It came with pickled cucumber (think when it's cucumber kimchi, but it wasn't a kimchi type of marinade). The peanut sauce had a little spice (if you don't have any spice tolerance I would avoid the sauce, but it was sooo good). This was my favorite. - khao soi curry (has egg noodles) and that was delicious. We added the brisket to it which was a good add. My husband ate his so fast and I had to make him not take any more so we could have leftovers! DRINKS: - we got complimentary champagne for our anniversary which was so so sweet of them and made our night! The champagne itself was actually one of the best champagnes I have had. It had a nice sweetness to it. - my husband had the thai lager, which he said was okay. It tasted like most lagers he's had. - we shared the tangerine you are my sex machine as it sounded interesting and i do have to say this was the only thing we weren't big fans of. it was very smokey, but my husband put "old boat motor" in my head and that's all we could taste. if you love smokey drinks this would be for you. - I had a house cocktail that I cannot remember the name of for the life of me, but it was sweet, peachy (I think) and had champagne in it from what I remember. It was so good and would get it again! The vibe inside the restaurant was cool and there are over 30 tigers (our server counted for us, but she said she couldn't even find them all). We had the coconut broth hamachi which was so lip-smackingly addictive with those wonton chips! I would come back just for that dish! The chicken satay skewers were also delicious and the sauce that came with it was a good mix of sweet, savory, spicy and salty. I do think from there it was kind of just okay? I got the half fried chicken which smelled a fish sauce glaze and that's what I went in expecting but there was no punch of that fish sauce flavor you know? It needed a bit more pop. BF got the pork belly banh mi bowl which I guess in theory why would you get that at a Thai place? But the pork belly was hard and firm, not as you'd expect it to be which was dissapointing. Our friends got the Khao Soi which was delicious I do have to say and the Panang with Brisket. I think it was cool to try but im just stuck in my ways and prefer the ole mom and pop down the road with more options. But its fun for a night out!
