It was a terrible experience. Absolutely not the place to go if you wish to be treated like a lady at all. My Friend and I went there and shared a seat after asking if it was OK for us to sit down next to this group of guys. The group of guys said yes, you can sit in the seat so my girlfriend and I were sharing a seat. The next thing you know, about five minutes later, this random man walks up (who looked like he didn't have any issues medically but who knows), asked us if he could have his seat back. The rest of his male friends who just told us that we could sit there just stared like they didn't just give us permission to sit there. My girlfriend and I got up from our shared seat and decided to leave. It was a very unpleasant experience, not to mention the bartender never even said hello. This is a dive bar and one that caters to locals. One side of the bar hosts a live band and the other side hosts karaoke.There were quite the mix of people in there, but mostly young white surfer types. This bar is pretty dingy and the bathrooms are disgusting. You're safer with a bottled beer than a mixed drink. There is a pool table and some people dance. Disappointing and Unsafe - Do Not Recommend for Transfolks I am incredibly disappointed and shaken by my recent experiences here. This establishment markets itself as an inclusive, LGBTQ+-friendly establishment, but that welcoming atmosphere completely vanishes if you are trans. While the bar claims to be a safe space, the actual environment tells a very different story. During my visits, I have experienced blatant hostility, including multiple derogatory comments from other patrons. The situation escalated severely in the parking lot, where people yelled transphobic slurs at me and actively tried to instigate a physical fight. Management and security need to do a serious reality check about who they are letting in and how they enforce their supposed "inclusive" policies. Marketing yourself as a safe space means actually protecting the community, not just using the label for good PR. If you are trans or gender-nonconforming, please be extremely careful or avoid this place entirely for your own safety. read more

I love this place! Whenever I come visit my hometown in Oceanside this place never disappoints. The karaoke room is my absolute favorite and the people watching is the best! Service is great and the bands are usually cover bands that are 70-90s rock when I've been there. This bar is also the one that's featured in my favorite show animal kingdom that was all filmed in Oceanside, but the name is not used on the show. read more

A Karaoke Nightmare If you're considering a visit to Larry's Karaoke Bar, let me save you the trouble; don't. My friends and I recently had the misfortune of spending an evening here, and it was nothing short of a disaster. The DJ, a younger woman with curly hair, completely hijacked the night, making it more of a personal concert than a karaoke bar. She dominated the stage, singing every other song herself and insisting on a minimum of $50 in tips if you wanted even the slightest chance of performing. The signup process was a joke. It's done on a piece of paper with no system to track who's up next or which songs have already been sung. We waited three hours! and not a single one of our group was called to the stage. Meanwhile, the DJ's friends and regulars took turns, some of them singing two or three times. And, of course, when someone didn't show up for their turn, the DJ took it upon herself to sing the entire song; usually a lengthy 4-5 minute track. The atmosphere was toxic, not just because of the DJ's blatant favoritism, but also because of her attitude. She was rude, dismissive, and clearly more interested in hearing herself sing than in letting paying customers enjoy their night. If you're looking for a karaoke bar where you can actually sing, you'd better look elsewhere. Larry's is a place where you'll be forced to listen to the DJ's endless renditions of songs "she" likes, while you wait (and wait...and wait...) for a turn that will never come; unless, of course, you're willing to fork over $50. In short, if you want a karaoke experience that leaves you frustrated, disappointed, and feeling ripped off, then Larry's is the perfect place for you. Otherwise, stay far, far away. read more

However, Larry's Beach club has survived all the shutdowns and changes and is going strong since 1980. A classic dive bar which hosts live music several times a week, Larry's is a portal to the 1980's. One step inside and you feel as if you're in a time warp. But that's not a bad thing. Larry's is a great place to go if you want to listen to live music, shoot some pool, have a few beers and eat some chicken wings. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. read more

Been wanting to try this 70+ year old neighborhood dive bar for awhile so I finally rode my bike to meet my brother in law there early on a Friday night. What a cool dive bar. We had some Jamesons while the band was setting up and when they finally started playing our ears perked up. They were killing it with some of the great hits from the 60s through the 00s. By 9pm the place was packed and it was alive! We finished with tequila shots to end a great time. We couldn't stay long but we'll be back! Next time we'll try the food and maybe post another review on that. read more

Fun place! Had karaoke in one room and live band in the other and didn't have any sound issues with the two going on at the same time. Decent sized patio area to hang out with tables.
