The staff at the hotel desk nor the pub were very friendly. It was obvious they did not really want to be there. When we got to the room, I noticed that not one thing in the room had been updated since we were married. The couch was broken in to say the least. The shower temperature could not be adjusted, and one of the towel racks just fell off the wall when I touched it. The worse thing about our experience was the next morning my wife noticed several bed bug bites on her arm. She spent the rest of our trip smearing Benadryl on her arm. My suggestion to anyone looking for a room in the area... try the DeSoto house.

The bathroom is roomy and the water pressure worked well (always a plus for my husband). The HUGE cinnamon roll awaiting us when we arrived was wonderful!!! And we thought the price per night was affordable (under $200). Being at the end of Main St makes it more quiet than uptown further. Just an enjoyable place to stay.

Galena is part of the driftless area which was missed by the glaciers 10,000 years ago leaving limestone bluffs and rock outcrops that make it look like Montana. The wildlife is incredible there. We stayed in a villa that backed up to the woods with a huge variety of birds. The villa we stayed in was clean and tastefully decorated with local nature photos. The reception staff was very helpful and friendly during our stay. We did not try the food or lounges only because we had brought groceries with us.
