This is a great gym. I've never regretted showing up whether I want to work out using machines or attend group fitness classes. Each and every class instructor is outstanding and gifted in their own ways but all are super knowledgeable, motivating, and genuinely invested in helping people grow. Every class supports both physical strength and mental resilience. The workouts are challenging (with options available) but fun and the facilities are clean and well-maintained. I can never get a better workout at home than I do at this gym. read more

I've been a loyal member of this gym since 2020, and it's heartbreaking to see what it's become. Especially for those of us in the powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting & strongman community. Over the years, we created a tight-knit, well-known powerlifting group here. It wasn't just a gym--it became like family. Many of us signed up for coaching and trained hard together, competing and supporting one another. We even invested thousands of dollars of our own money into specialty equipment--bars, plates, benches--all to make sure we had the tools necessary to prep for competitions. Now, due to decisions made by the owners, that community is being torn apart. We've been told to remove our equipment without any compromise--no discussion about relocating it within the gym, no concern for the impact on our training. Just a cold ultimatum: remove it by May 1st or they'll cut the locks. They made that very clear that's what they wanted when they put a sign on EVERY SINGLE BAR. It was excessive, disrespectful, and completely uncalled for. We were promised the proper equipment for serious powerlifting training. But that promise resulted in just three decent power bars--and that's where the investment stopped. No squat bars, no deadlift bars, no competition benches. Most of the existing bars are old, beat up, and have no grip left--the knurling is worn smooth, making them nearly useless. And during peak hours, it's almost impossible to find one that's even usable. I pay $70 a month, plus annual fees for just about everything--but where is that money going? Certainly not toward improving the equipment we actually need. Despite the lack of resources, we still built something amazing. People at powerlifting meets recognize us--they know the lifters who came from this gym. That's how strong our community was. We supported each other, brought home medals, and proudly represented where we trained. I stayed through a lot because I believed in what we were building. But it's clear now that our loyalty and contributions don't mean much. This isn't just poor management--it's disrespectful to the community. This location is pretty great. Nice staff, it's big and usually pretty clean as well. They have a lot of equipment which helps during rush hour, making it possible to workout even if it's crowded. The only frustrating thing here is the cameras. I get it, people want to record their sets for their social media or just for themselves, but there's so many of them and they get unhinged sometimes. This was, without question, one of the best gym experiences I have ever had. The workout was excellent, and the facility met all expectations truly the best gym company's of all time. The equipment was in pristine condition, and the staff provided outstanding service particularly Jack Myers at the front desk and his supervisor, who were both patient and thorough in answering all of my questions. How much 10 years on a FAMILY PLAN is worth to Gold's Gym Fredericksburg? Apparently... nothing. To my great disappointment I found out. I've been paying for the family plan for a decade, recommending the gym to many friends and family members. In all these years, I had never used the guest pass privilege... until I tied yesterday. I wanted to share my only two free hours with my sister, who is considering moving to Fredericksburg and was looking for a gym. My intention was to show her the place where I have invested time, money, and trust for 10 years. However, the experience ended up being uncomfortable and humiliating. She was denied entry at the front desk because she "doesn't currently live here." The most frustrating part wasn't the rule itself, but the total lack of empathy toward a long-term client. In a decade, I was never informed of this policy; that the guest had to be a local resident. There were no alternatives, no flexibility, and no acknowledgment of my loyalty. I spoke with the manager, and it was even worse--cold attitude, zero courtesy, and no solution. The gym was practically empty (Thursday, 11 a.m.). There was no logical or humane reason to deny access, especially to a potential new member. The only solution offered: I had to pay for a full day pass so she could enter... even though we would only be there for two hours. Sure, I could pay for the whole day, but where was the recognition of my 10 years of loyalty--especially when supposedly members are encouraged to bring a guest? What upset me the most was the cold, inhumane, and humiliating treatment. They simply wouldn't let her in. Today I understand why I see fewer people in this place. Conclusion: For Gold's Gym, a loyal client has no value; they only see numbers in their system. My recommendations: To future clients: If you're looking for a gym where the human touch is as important as the workout, this is not the place. Here, rules outweigh empathy. I've been coming to Gold's Gym Fredericksburg for 13 years, primarily for the group fitness classes. This is the best gym in the area, in my opinion. The instructors are motivating and are full of energy, which is amazing in itself because most of them have regular full time jobs. Members of management are also instructors, and they often substitute if someone isn't available to teach. I have used the equipment on the floor, they are always maintained. I had a horrible experience at the Fredericksburg Gold's gym. I was duped into signing a 2 year contract without my knowledge. I used the gym for about 4 months then couldn't go anymore due to some issues. I cancelled my membership but I kept seeing charges on my card for 2 additional months. I called and asked why I'm been charged since I cancelled and I was told I signed a 2 year contract so it'll cost me $800 plus to cancel. I was not made aware of a contract. The guy that signed me up never mentioned of a contract. I contacted the manager of this location and he said unfortunately, I'll need to pay up to cancel. I will not recommend you go here. I've been a loyal customer with Golds gym for a few years so it's unfortunate I had to leave a review this low. This particular location is not worth the 2 year contract and money you have to shovel out every month. Equipment is constantly broken or missing and the cleanliness is pretty bad due to there not being a lot of rags to wipe your equipment down with. Everyone also uses the same filthy rags. The manager gives you a horrible attitude if you have to bring any kind of issue or complaint to him. After giving my 30 day membership cancellation, they billed me for a full month just 1 week before my membership was up. I had to call customer service several times before they answered. I even left a voicemail that no one responded too for a week. They never refunded me and I had to demand they remove my card from the system or I was contacting my bank. I'm extremely frustrated with the customer service at this Gold's Gym and the inability to cancel my membership during COVID without spending hundreds of dollars in cancellation fees. I signed up for a two year membership at the end of January 2020 with every intention of utilizing my membership for the full two years. I was pregnant at the time that I signed up, so when COVID hit I took the recommended precautions and stopped going to the gym. For obvious reasons I didn't feel comfortable going to that type of public facility with the possibility of getting sick. I reached out when the pandemic first hit and the gym was closed, and even though I reached out to Taft services to freeze my fees, I was still charged my full membership every month. Fast forward one year and I still haven't been back because I have family who have compromised immune systems and I have an infant. For obvious reasons I don't want to expose myself or them by working out in such a large venue. However, I still can't get out of my contract unless I pay for the full year. I reached out to the gym again this week and was told that unless I get a doctor's note I can't cancel without a significant penalty. During COVID, you would think that there would be a little understanding that some people may not feel comfortable or be able to work out as they would have prior to the pandemic. Instead, Gold's Gym is choosing to take advantage of the situation and continue to charge its customers. Been to a few gyms around the Fredericksburg area, this by far is my favorite. The staff is super friendly. The gym is always being wiped down by their support crew. The Mecca of gyms gets a 1star review from me because of their customer service. The facility itself is good if you are exclusively looking to lift weights/ cardio but other than that, the other amenities feel...eh. Employees will sell you a one or two year contract and talk about how easy cancellation is but THIS IS YOUR WARNING DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS GYM. Cancellation has been a nightmare and they dont even handle payment in house, they outsource it to a super rude company that will literally yell at you over the phone. Even when you do cancel, they will bill you for every day, 30 days post cancellation so essentially they rip you off of another month even though you pay a $50 cancellation fee. HERE IS HOW TO CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP!!! Go to the USPS website and and obtain a "proof of relocation". Great customer service , extremely nice staff and everything is clean. * they have one cinema room with a couple of machines to do cardio - amazing ! In the afternoon is full. Hours for using this room are 4 am to 4 pm after those hours is always full. *personal training program is a little bit expensive but it's good. Ask for ceyonna. * classes! Are amazing. They change the scheduled every month so be aware of that! Body pump, body combat and yoga are my favorites! Cycling with Bill and PJ are out of this world . *bathrooms are always clean. *great protein shakes * parking is big but it can be a little bit challenging during rush hours - 4 pm to 9 pm. *childcare is good Overall for the price is a great gym!!! read more

Do not go to this gym. I promise you any other gym is better than this dirty place. There are cock roaches covering the locker rooms and hiding in the lockers. There are also roaches in THE KIDS CLUB AREA where my children play. Ants covering the floors. The roach infestation has been brought to the general managers attention (Mark) and he laughs it off. They are greedy and the place is not clean in any way. At least if you take my money every month, upkeep your cleanliness... Dirty wet rags hanging around for everyone to use. Empty bottles of sanitizer everywhere, most bottles don't even spray. This place is a mess. Needs new management or a serious makeover. read more

This place is a joke of a gym. Most of the equipment is missing clips, not enough equipment for people to actually work out during rush hours. Not to mention the place is filthy. The pool area is unclean and never maintained. Hot tub is always broken or not filled. If you mention a problem to the manger who sits at a desk when you walk in to the left, he rolls his eyes and mumbles something as you walk away. All he cares about is what he's taking home that year. They charge you crazy fees if you miss your bill or change credit cards. They lock you into contracts without explaining the contract. If you're trying to move due to military reasons, they'll charge you even more to break the contract or make you pay the whole contract off, that you didn't even know you had in the first place. This is a filthy gym and I do not recommend putting a dime into it. I've learned my lesson. read more

Do not use Gold's Gym, it's a trap. In order to use the gym you have to agree to a one year membership, there is NO WAY to cancel this membership. Once your year membership is up, you have to give them 30 days notice, which is their way of squeezing more money out you before you can escape. You can't cancel at the gym, instead you have to wait for someone to email you back. Absolutely absurd and I will be making sure that anyone I know that is looking for a gym avoids Gold's like the plague. read more

I miss going to this gym so much! I was a member for three years and absolutely loved it! This gym is HUGE - you'll never have to wait for any machines and can always find a spot in any of their group Les Mills classes. They gave me a membership discount for being a local hospital employee and usually give discounts to other groups as well. They have a TON of Les Mills group classes and a great variety of times to fit your schedule. I love Body Flow which is a blend of Tai Chi, Yoga, and Pilates. They also have body pump, body combat, body attack, Zumba, and a variety of RPM spin classes! The teachers and trainers are all very friendly and helpful. They also have tanning beds and a waterbed-lay down-back massager which feels sooooo good! I also love that they often have challenges or launch events where you can win prizes such as a free t-shirt, tanning or massage sessions and more. I so wish I still lived here and could go to his gym - hands down he best gym I've ever belonged to! read more

This gym is absolute trash. The hours are horrible and the customer service is horrible. Trying to cancel your membership is a nightmare. Closes at 6 pm on Sunday? Seriously? Sorry that your staff wants to have a nice evening and get off early but that's not mine or anyone else's problem. This gym is horrible and will soon go out of business. I'll probably get some automated response saying "sorry for your experience, here's a one day pass to take care of your problems" I already have ten one day passes due to prior inconveniences. I want my membership canceled and not have to pay the $900 to do it. Respond with a solution to my problem so I can take my money somewhere else. Your only concern was to correct me and to point out what I failed to review at my time of signing? I've been a manger trained to deal with relief management with guests. We were trained to make sure each one of our guests never felt as though they were wrong, and never replied in a condescending tone to their concerns or questions. You pointed out everything that I said and had an arrogant answer for it, and yet you pride yourself on customer service?! The "Manager" that called me did not leave a message or try reaching back out at a later time. When I realized I missed the call, I called back and someone answered the phone and when I said I was returning a missed call, I was told that they must have dialed the wrong number. This gym has a 2.5 rating.... is that because of your great customer service? And ability to understand that sometimes people make a heat of the moment decision to sign up for an outrageously priced gym that isn't even open 24/7? I'm not the only person there that fell into this trap.. I'll fill out the cancellation form, but I think the idea of making someone who doesn't want to continue to go to your gym, therefore cancelling, should have to pay the entire remainder of their account balance is absurd. That makes no sense at all. You guys believe gouging people for every last penny is the way you do business? Sometimes you just have to cut your losses. Came in today December 23, 2016 in the morning before 11am. I just came in to try a free 5 day trial to check out the gym with my friend. We were looking for a gym to join for our the new years resolution and debating which gym to join. This gym is big and has lots of equipment. Michael who worked the front counter was super nice. Jake our tour guide was cool,nice,fun, and patient with us. Everything was going great until today. This young girl maybe in her 20s wearing all black with blonde hair came up and took away a green rubber resistant band i was going to let my friend use. I wish i got her name but everything happened too fast. The band was being used by a prior couple doing a circuit and we were just patiently waiting to use it. We were only going to use it for a set. Maybe 1 minute to work on technique. She came out of no where and took it away from me saying she shouldn't have let them use it and needed it back. I guess members get treated different by age, sex, gender, and race here. She was a trainer because she went inside the room that said staff only next to the green turf and put it away inside a metal locker. I guess not all equipment is for use? She could have told me that but didn't. She was unprofessional and rude. Im sure she paid for the band with her own money. *sarcasm* She didn't even use it when she took it away. She just put it away. There is no common decency here. I felt embarrassed and humiliated the way she talked to me in front of everyone. I am in the military veteran, served overseas in OIF, and a first responder 911 ambulance driver and Emergency room tech. Im glad i didn't pay for membership because this would have made me want to cancel. See how difficult it is to cancel. Just because of that this small incident. The gym lost two gym members and more because I'm going to tell all my friends and family about this shitty place. If they treated me like this, I'm sure they can do the same with you and your love ones. Its the small things that count. Its what life is mostly made out of. I have to commend the manage for two things. One is keeping the gum open for as long as possible. Two for personally going over with the employees what had to happen and how they can best respond to the challenge of being unemployed. Classy act in face o af potentially overwhelming siruatin. Gold's Gym Fredericksburg 100% lives up to the legendary reputation of the franchise. I've worked out at community centers, at "fitness centers" like Bally's, and at modern gimmicks like Planet Fitness (for exactly 1 day before cancelling, as it is not a gym, it is a gimmick, more interested in getting your money and coddling the insecure than actually helping people get in shape); but nothing has TOUCHED the experience of this gym. Odds are, if you've seen a type of workout, you can do it here. Too rainy to run? They've got more treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals than I've ever seen. Want to get strong? Tons of free weights, squat racks, benches, inclines, declines, dead-lift stations (Olympic AND imperial weights! Try finding THAT in most gyms!), kettle bells, medicine balls, they've got it all. Want to try something different? Something more modern? Try the sport conditioning center. Astro-turn running strip, TRX, heavy ropes, plyo training, they've got it! On top of all this, God's has a full-size indoor pool, fantastic personal trainers and tons of classes (everything from aerobics to cardio kickboxing, yoga, you name it), all included in the price of your membership. I am not a "gym-expert" by any means, but I find this gym to be perfectly satisfactory for those who want to: 1. start working out as soon as they arrive (no waits), and 2. have PLENTY of choices of what to do ( with the recent expansion, even more so). This place has a welcome feel for both serious trainers and those seeking casual exercise. Pool and sauna included. When I bring a guest, they are somewhat apprehensive about looking "too out of shape" or the like (think of those silly commercials from Planet Fitness---no, people in this establishment who work out seriously are not obnoxious apes ). I will start by stating that I am an employee at this facililty. I have worked in the fitness industry a long time and this is my absolute favorite gym at which to have had the pleasure to work. Not too big or impersonal, but still has everything you want and a staff who is 100% committed to customer service. The entire staff from management to the trainers, the kids' club team to the front desk folks and instructors are caring and helful. Everyone here wants to help the members have a better day, a better workout and ultimately a better life. Every single day I see people smiling and thanking members of our team for helping change their lives. What other job can you say this about? The gym is clean, well maintained and filled with quality equipment. The class schedule is large and diverse and taught by highly trained instructors. 10/10 recommend. This gym has an incredible amount of equipment. I have only ever waited to use weights at peak hours, and then only for a moment. They also have a pool and many different exercise classes. It's a clean facility, and the staff is very courteous. I almost always am checked in at the front desk by a tall guy with long-ish hair, and he is consistently very friendly. He even noticed when I got a haircut, which was pretty cool. I haven't had any sessions with their personal trainers, but they seem very knowledgeable. Perhaps the most unique aspect of this gym is the "Cardio Theater," where they play movies in a room with a bunch of cardio equipment. It's great! I've found myself running for twice as long in there sometimes, because I need to see how the movie ends. They also have quite a few cardio machines outside the theater, most of which have TV's attached. My only complaint, which is so negligible it has no impact on my overall opinion of Gold's, is that the TV's on the cardio equipment no longer have the Food Network, my favorite thing to watch while jogging for some reason. They do still have ESPN, which is a nice alternative. I've also heard some kind of schiesty things about the cancellation process, but it seems like they have made strides to improve this. Overall, Gold's is a great gym with options for everybody and a great attitude. read more
