Let me start by saying I never write reviews, but my experience with Gold's Gym has been so frustrating and unprofessional that I feel compelled to warn others. After moving across the country to California, I discovered there were no Gold's Gym locations anywhere near me. Naturally, I called to cancel my membership. I was told that cancellations could not be done over the phone and that I would need to come in person to cancel, despite the fact that I now live over 6.5 hours away by plane. When I explained my situation, the representative I spoke with was extremely rude, dismissive, and completely unwilling to help. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this issue, I was continuously stonewalled by their staff and provided no reasonable solution. To make matters worse, my account was sent to collections for a mere $20/month membership, and my credit score has suffered as a result, all because Gold's Gym refused to provide any legitimate way to cancel my membership remotely. It's clear from reading other reviews that this isn't an isolated incident, it's a pattern of unethical and predatory business practices. . Do yourself a favor and choose ANY other gym except Gold's Gym. Gold's Gym has proven to be dishonest, unhelpful, and completely indifferent to their customers once they have your payment information. read more

I am a fan! I have been to several Gold's Gyms in the DMV area and this one by far, is one of the best. I was visiting family in the 'burbs' and decided to stop by this gym before heading back into the city. I must say I was impressed. For starters.......I will just say....HUGE and FULL of EVERYTHING...you need under one roof!! One of the reviewers called this gym small. I am not sure where she lives or what Gold's Gyms she particularly goes to but, if you've been to most in DC area, this gym is "twice" the size of those in DC --the city itself! It may seem small at a glance due to the unique floor plan, but once inside you will find many spaces and nooks where there's a lot of workout spaces and great gym equipment all packed into a loft-like space. In addition, there are also loads of fitness/cardio equipment, a crossfit studio, indoor turf space, spin cycle studio and yoga/pilates studio to complete just about any of your fitness interest and goals. Not to mention, the gym is Open 24 Hours. This gym also gets a "Thumbs Up!" for have an indoor air-filtration system that helps in eliminating airborne germs, staphs, bacteria and.....even the Corona Virus! Given COVID pandemic concerns, the gym was not that crowded and I liked that as soon as you walk in there was sanitizer sprays and gels everywhere. And, the locker room/bathrooms were SUPER CLEAN! The cleaning staff was continuously cleaning and wiping down equipment the entire time I was there. Kudos!.... to the management and cleaning staff for this effort and working to keep members safe!! Something seriously important during today's climate. In all, nothing but good things to say about this gym and the experience. The vibe is cool, tons of equipment and the staff was friendly. Despite the female at the front desk on her cell phone, cackling and running her mouth with someone....she actually found the time to at least greet me when I walked in. I just wish this gym was in DC--THE CITY! This would certainly be my home gym for sure. So, to sum it all up: THE POSITIVES * Tons of great workout and exercise equipment; especially freeweights. * Cool Vibe - Non-intimidating. Beginners, Novice, Bodybuilders and Advanced Fitness Enthusiast...will all fit into this utopian environment. * Great Locker/Shower Space - Very clean and does not wreak of $#!% BO. THE NEGATIVES * No Added Amenities - Pool, B-ball Courts, Boxing, or Racquet Ball Courts. * Need more Olympic Platforms/Specialty Equipment. A week ago I went in to cancel my membership that I have been trying to cancel for the past 6 months, I had an emergency surgery and it left me unable to walk, or drive for myself. Being the only person in my life in the area I had to wait to go in person. I emailed several times for cancellation, called several times and each time they told me no worries! Just email our manager for help! And guess what, they gave me a false email of a women who doesn't even work there. I emailed the "manager" and was told I would have to come In person even though I can't walk for myself let alone stand up. A week ago. I go in finally and ask for a cancellation and am told No. no because she needs a manager. She was very rude and when I argued it back she told me to fuck off. I went back later and a man helped me canceling , no help from the manager , so ofcourse she lied. And she just didn't want to help me. I don't recommend coming here, I have 6 months of paid membership that I couldn't even use. Not to mention the rude staff and manger who never seems to be working. read more

I've gone to this location a few times. I like what they offer, and the variety of fitness items. My only hiccup is that I feel like there really is no space in some areas- it can feel cramped. I like to be in my own "space" while I'm working out. Other than that, the staff is nice, very personable. The bathrooms were clean and it is probably the best gym for just about everyone. I wish the hours were a little better, but I'd consider joining, if the hours were a better fit. read more

Impressively unhelpful employees, very stupid layout -- all the machines are mixed up and jammed in weird places (very illogical, clearly not set up by someone who actually lifts) making for an incredibly awkward and annoying workout session -- very cramped in general, and very hot! Yesterday morning I was subjected to a verbal and near physical assault by two other members at your facility. As I was using a machine, a man, Scott Smoot, aggressively approached me demanding to know how long I would be on the machine. I have been asked this before, as has nearly anyone who works out at a gym with other members. This individual was loud, rude, and aggressive, and he proceeded to berate me as I told him I was not yet done using the machine. His wife April Smoot (an EMT by the way) then joined in on his verbal assault, coming nearly nose-to-nose with me as a yelled back defending myself. In the course of this verbal altercation, the two used racial slurs and told me to go "back to my country." At one point, the man lunged at me as if he intended to physically attack me, with his intentions only thwarted by the intervention of another member acting as a Good Samaritan. The two then threatened that I would be subjected to additional verbal and physical abuse in the parking lot, at which point I retreated to a tanning room, calling the police as I did not feel safe walking to my vehicle alone. My actions were entirely in self defense to this unprompted, unwarranted, and unacceptable behavior by the man I have outlined. These members are a liability to your facility and franchise, as if they can behave this way towards me, they can and likely will demonstrate the same behavior in the future. I encourage you to review your security camera footage to prove that my actions were in self defense. I fully intend to cancel my membership with Gold's Gym. The fact that I was told by on-site personnel that the couple would not be banned from the facility because "they have been members for a long time" means that my safety is not a priority for your establishment, and I have no intention of subsidizing your business while putting my safety and peace of mind at risk. I will be sending this information to your corporate headquarters so they may be kept apprised of the issues at your facility, and will be sharing my experience on various social media platforms. read more

Yes this gym is small, but: - you have great access to tons of machines even though it's kind of a gym on a smaller side -great selection of classed -awesome instructors -customer service is decent - parking is never an issue - it's in a convenient location off Ritchie & 100 - machines seem to be in good shape, any repairs happen in a timely manner -if you get the gold membership you have access to other gyms(Glen Burnie, Crofton, Dundalk & Bowie) -it's clean as a gum can get, I mean do wipe the machines down for your safety and wash your hands read more

So I'm living on this side of the county now... I visited a few gyms in the area before I remembered that my Crofton Gold's membership was also accepted at the Marley Station (Gnarly Marley!) location. Bonus! I'm paying $20/month, so hey, that works for me. Like the Crofton location, this place is CLEAN! The equipment is decent -- some new-ish pieces. It's definitely not as stocked as Crofton and the layout is a little different. My one big gripe is that there are no early morning classes. I was a fan of the 6 a.m. Body Pump and Spin classes in Crofton since I try to work out before the kiddies are awake (because y'all know what happens when you put off exercising -- it doesn't happen!). The employee at the front desk is very friendly -- a plus when I am dragging my a** in there so early. read more

This Gold's doesn't let you cancel your membership unless the manager is there - and the manager is only there during working hours. If you can only go on evenings or weekends, have fun driving in rush hour to get there before the manager leaves! No online or over-the-phone option. Pros: Equipment selection is good. There are 4 squat racks and several deadlift platforms. Space is quite large. There's a room for women to work out without men around. Lockers and showers on-site. There is an outdoor astroturf space which is nice during warmer months. Cons: Music plays the same seven 2000's hard rock songs on loop (I exaggerate... slightly). Not a big deal, but there's only so many times you want to hear Three Days Grace shout "I! HATE! EVERYTHING! ABOUT YOU! WHY! DO I! LOVE YOU!" before you start to feel like you're living in Groundhog Day. People aren't too good about reracking their weights so plates and dumbbells are scattered about. Masks are not mandated and very few people wear them or make any effort to socially distance. I always wiped down machines but saw few people bother to clean equipment when they were done. Hygiene was my biggest qualm with this location. If you can get in during slow hours it's not so bad, but after work is very crowded. I don't think businesses should be able to make it intentionally inconvenient to cancel memberships. I move often and usually don't have a hard time starting and stopping memberships at nearby locations. Had better experiences at other gyms in the area. read more

My son cancelled his membership after a year and we coordinated the contact payment through Brandon, the Manager at Gold's Gym, and still my son gets collection letters. I got involved because my son was under the age of 18 when he joined. I tried to warn him that getting into the membership is easy but getting out may be difficult but he insisted. Long story short, he paid his annual obligation and cancelled his membership and two months later is getting harassed by Gold's collection agency. Do yourself a favor and join a reputable gym or at least a Gold's run by a more competent team of manager. Despite the feedback from yet another manager at this place and after several calls and emails, still collection calls continue for a membership we cancelled months ago. RUN do not walk away from this place. You can join but you can NEVER cancel membership. So unless you want a lifetime membership do not join. read more

Yes, it's in Marley Station Mall, and yes, this mall is going downhill fast. But the gym itself is actually the shining star here. I've actually had a very pleasant experience so far, with friendly staff, plenty of equipment, everything in good repair, and lots of options for classes. I REALLY love the cardio cinema.....I can hit the treadmill or bike and watch a movie in the dark, totally losing track of how much time or how far I've gone. So I'm not focused on being tired, I just want to know if Matthew McConaughey is going to win the trial....... Compared to the location in Crofton, this one is by far the better option. They also have tanning booths/beds that are included in your membership, along with massage chairs/beds....just stop by the desk and sign up for a time. And you can visit any Gold's location in the area....or even out of the area with a travel pass, which is great for me since I travel for work. And you can bring a guest for free! All for only $30/month......not a bad deal! read more

Good gym for the majority two levels with plenty of variety of equipment a large parking lot that attached to mall so there is always a ton of parking, on of the best things is that it's open 24 hours so you can avoid the busy times between 4 and 8 they also have daycare which is nice When my kids were younger they used to go there and all the girls that worked there were nice they haven't been for about a year. I LOVE THE GYM! Don't get me wrong, I love the equipment at times between 4pm-7pm on week days it's a little too crowded. I'm sure they've oversold memberships, nonetheless it's a pretty good gym Now why the bad rating: Their showers, their showers sucks and the water does not drain properly. I like to go there to workout during my lunch break from work. However, all the men's showers end up being standing water. Please clean up the showers and have them drain properly. That's my only flaw with this place but it's a major one for me. If you're not ever going to shower than it doesn't matter this is a great gym to join. read more

Cheap membership. However to work out in the woman's workout room and use the ladies lockers it's on the 2nd floor. The stairs are challenging for those with aging joints needing to work out to manage pain. They have an elevator but that requires an employee to operate it and a wait time for every time you need to go up or down. It's old and like a chamber inside. Scary if you were to get stuck in there! Deceiving promotional signs for free fitness classes. Manager makes every promise you want to get you to sign up for Compel fitness trainer. Beware when they say, You can quit at anytime! Not so. Manager says he is "the top boss" there and can do anything to work with you. Until you try to back out. Then all of a sudden he has rules to follow. Unless you are in this to become a body builder be very careful. They can be very intimidating trying to get you to sign up for more. read more

If I were to rate this place on today's experience only, I would give it a 3 star review. Today I was there for body flow and Kimberly, the normal instructor was on vacation so Tom was supposed to come in. He never showed. I waited 15 minutes and left. Went to go on the circut and my DD was crying in daycare so i wouldn't be able to workout the whole class anyways, right? This place is clean and the staff is semi helpful. It gets crowded at night so if you're a SAHM, definately go early morning before lunch. I like the instructors for the classes, they're always helpful and kind. Daycare ladies are so sweet. It's $3 a kid to watch them while you work out. Its really an unbeatable price. read more

My SO and I went to cancel our memberships in-person in December of 2021. We completed the paperwork and was told by the young woman that our cards are being charged that very day. We waited there until she officially charged us (the cards on file we used to pay our monthly fee each month) and told us we were good to go. It is now May 2022 and we received debt collection call that we owe over $200. I called Kathy Davis of Gold's Gym to explain the situation. She verified that our account was closed but because our card was not properly charged, that fees were building up. She stated that she has called and sent emails, but there is nothing from her as I checked my inbox and spam emails. We were met with poor customer service as she continued to interrupt me. She was more concerned about how this would negatively impact credit scores. I explained to her that it is their job to properly train employees on how to cancel a membership and verify information (name, email, phone number, card info) before cancelling. I would not recommend this location to anyone. read more

OMG! my experience (and a lot of others I can imagine that I speak to and hear walking past the front desk as we) is the The gym is HORRID! It's almost never cleaned properly or disinfected. It's insanely sticky hot in the summer inthe weight room and the staff is beyond RUDE. BUT congrats to Justin Gibbs the "manager" for being the FATTEST manager of...any gym...I've ever seen (and all over the east coast at that) How can you be a manager of a gym and look like you've never even worked out a day in your life? The only thing the gym has going for it is it's cheap! And they know this.. thats why they have "abercrombie" attitudes cause they know the economy is so tuff people have to put up with it. The tanning beds are like 400 degrees also. BUt to tell the truth... the other gyms in the area arent that much better... so WHY PAY MORE FOR THE SAME $HITTY SERIVCE??.. just go to Golds Marley. I have been a member of Marley Gold's since 2009. It suits my needs perfectly. I use the kids club and the group exercise classes. It is a convenient location, Plentiful parking and the staff and other members are very courteous. It seems like Gold's is the only place where someone holds the door for you anymore. Even if I don't have my children with me! My three kids like going to kids club and the cost of care (2 hrs/day) is included in the price of my membership. The girls there are really sweet and seem to be happy to see my kids, too. I love the group exercise classes. The formats are varied and interesting. The instructors I use are well prepared, very knowledgeable and I like getting to know them. I look forward to seeing them every week and it motivates me to get to class. read more

Word of the wise, if you'd like a trial pass, do not mention you have ever stepped foot in a golds gym ever in your life. You will be told to sign up or leave. In my case today, I was denied a trial by an extremely rude/condescending/interrogative front desk person, having mentioning I went to a different location 4 years ago on a day pass with a friend. NEVER, EVER JOIN THIS GYM. If you want to cancel your membership before one year is up, forget it- even if it's for health and moving purposes. I tried to cancel my membership in August because I found out I cannot work out in aerobic type classes/weight lift for about a year. This is the reason I joined Gold's. Since I no longer could participate, you would think that they would understand and cancel it. Nope. It's October and they are STILL charging me. I've gone to the gym four times, called and emailed numerous times and apparently the ONE person that can cancel memberships or refund money is never available. Great gym but small. At times (mainly weekdays between 4:00 pm - 8:30 pm), this gym gets really crowded. They have more than enough treadmills and bikes. The gym could use more bench press machines and other weight lifting equipment. The staff is great though. The customer service is pretty good. I have not had any issues. read more

I hadn't used their lockers for 2 weeks because I couldn't find my combination lock. I searched for it all around my house and it was no where to be found. Yesterday, I had a hunch - what if I had never taken it home with me? What if it was still on the locker I used 2 weeks ago. When I stepped into the locker room, I saw a combination lock on the locker I used then. I was feeling a bit elated. When I approached it, I looked around me to see if it was anyone else's (thinking they would shout, "hey! what are you doing?") I tried out my combination, and lo and behold! It was my lock! - It's great how Gold's Gym never took down my lock even though it has been sitting there for over 2 weeks. Maybe I can make one of the lockers officially mine.... read more

Compel Fitness Personal Trainers Enrollment agent told me NOTHING! I didn't know I was signing a YEAR contract; I was under the impression it was month to month. I signed the agreement on 1/5/2015 and have already paid for two sessions of 30 minutes and two other sessions that were cancelled by the trainer. Their customer service SUCKS!!!!! You are nothing BUT an statistic once they get you in, they forget about YOU!!!! DO NOT sign up for their poor service. I'm very surprise that Gold's Gym has this company as a partner!!! The gym is good and does the job when it's not too busy. My biggest complaint is the false advertisement with free Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi pretty much doesn't work at all. If you listen to streaming music and you go every day, this is a huge downfall. I've asked the staff about it before and they've all told me that they know the Wi-Fi doesn't work. The Wi-Fi at the other Glen Burnie location isn't any better either. I'm honestly not sure why they even say they have Wi-Fi. read more

Great gym, great staff, great experience. The main thing I love about this gym is the cardio cinema room - It plays movies (new releases) on a huge screen, the room is dark I so I don't feel uncomfortable when everything is jiggling when I move, the sound is perfect (I don't have to worry about headphones) and it makes the time on the dreaded machines fly bye! The gym is really clean, and neat - I constantly see staff cleaning and picking up. The machines are always in working condition, and I have never had to wait for a machine even during the evening hours. As a female one other thing I love is that it has a women's only section, for those of us who would like a little privacy. Additionally the other member's there make you feel comfortable, everyone is there to do their own thing - not to stare or make anyone uncomfortable - its a good feeling. read more

TRUST NO ONE. I was lied to by staff from day one. Came in with 9.99 a month flyer. Front desk woman took it, sent me to a guy named Matt and suddenly poof. What flyer? Do you have it on you? And obviously not she took it, but then it was like they hit their heads. "Oh, I don't have a flyer." So, right. That was weird- maybe they forgot. So, they sign you up on a tablet. I figure I will just select the 9.99$ membership when I get to it in there. My tablet dies....and they have no other tablets....of course. So, Matt the shady mer fer that he is signs me up on a computer. Already pretty sure this place is a huge scam I ask to see hard copies of paperwork- THIS PPACE IS WHY YOU ARE TOLD TO READ EVERYTHING YOU SIGN. I gwt a folder full of bs paper about classes...no terms and conditions. Mmmhmmm. I literally walk out to the parking lot and walk back in. You have 3 days to cancel. I took 3 minutes. I didn't want to be involved in this shady bs. Not worth it. Oh, manager isnt here and only he can cancel accounts. Like...what? So- say you have a job. 9-5 off on weekends. Apparently you will NEVER see a manager. I go in Monday at 9(when they told me the manager comes in) Yeah, no manager. So in my book if you are OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF LATE to work and you are a manager. You should be fired. Mat shows up. Hurraaaay (sarcasm) and suddenly "Ohhhh you dont need a nanager. I can handle this! Why dont we freeze your account. No fees. Nothing. Then you can cancel when you have time." Yeaaah about that. If you freeze your account gets pushed back. They wont tell you that. So i froze my account that day. 4 months later still have AN WNTIRE YEAR WORTH OF MEMBERSHIP. After 3 days you are "under contract" yes. Even if you were lies to. Even if you read the terms and conditions knew the guy was a liar wanted to see a manager but couldnt because they apparently never show up to work. Even if they jerked you around for those three days while you tried to cancel. And then oops sorry! Cant help you now! I called hundreds of times. My phone history looks like me and golds gym are bffs. You have to FIGHT to see or talk to a manager- oh, just kidding. They're never there remember? Have you ever played Super Mario? Yeah. Your manager is in another castle. Always. Forever. You will NEVER see a manager. Apparently, I am suppose to see one on monday.- about a cancel that should have happened 4 months ago.
