Here's a quick breakdown: Step 1. We did a tour with a guy who told us nothing but the monthly cost. We were cool with that cost, and we're excited to get started. Step 2. We came in to talk about signing up, and they tell us a starting price that's four and a half times higher than the cost that was described to us. The price included the first month, the "last month", and a ridiculous startup fee, so let's go into that First month makes sense. A gym membership is a prepaid service. I pay a monthly fee, then I use that service for that month. Perfectly fine. Last month DOES NOT. This is, again, a prepaid service. All a "last month" does is force you to pay for an extra chunk that you aren't going to use. If I'm cancelling, I'm not interested in one more month. Finally, there's a startup fee, which I'd be fine with if it weren't more than the two months they wanted us to pay combined. I'm not signing anything with a company that wants to wring out an extra three and a half months of cash before we ever get started. read more

I am disappointed in the gym. I have seen members vaping which is very upsetting to me. I go to become healthy and I am breathing in toxins from the vaping. I speak out not for myself but other members who feel the same. And also members who have respiratory, cardiac , and immunological health concerns. I also do not see staff monitoring the floor. I do not believe this is fair. I would like to see enforcement of no vaping policy. read more

Review is in regards to members of management at the Pasadena, Maryland gym; not the facility. It seems that members of management (Stephanie, whom I spoke to) do not have a grasp of elementary logic; I signed up for an LA fitness membership in June 2020, the gym closed a week after I signed up, and remained closed until March 2021. Stephanie listened to my concern and request for a refund, and then replied with the robotic, "I understand your concern, but will not be able to refund your initiation fee despite the fact that the gym was closed." Loved the place when I could go.. ..but God forbid that someone in your family passes away and the gym decides to withdraw last months Personal Training tab (a month later) along with the current months. You can kiss that $600 goodbye as they will -not- refund it. Trying to stay with what's left of your family to make sure they're okay? Trying to raise your step brother who now doesn't have a mother? GLOBAL PANDEMIC? Good luck trying to get out of the contract as they'll just try to burrow deeper into the hole they've created. This place is very clean! I really enjoy going to this gym. They lack a couple equipment for me as a competitive bodybuilder, however, this is a gym that I enjoy using because of its friendly staff and extremely cleanliness. Operation manager has been gone for over three months. the pool, the spa are filthy. Tried to take a class in the pool and something floated past me. The men's sauna has been broken for three months. My wife tells me the women's locker room is disgusting. The showers are dirty. There seems to be some slime growing on the floor of the whirlpool. The pool has slime on the sides of it. This is a health hazard waiting to happen. In general, there is no concern about maintenance at this location. By contrast the one in Waugh Chapel is a palace compared to this dump. Follow up review - a few weeks later, they hired an operations manager. Since then, the pool and the hot tub has been cleaned. My wife tells me that the locker room and showers are much cleaner. read more

Came in again after steering clear from the place after the Health Department shut down the Pool due to its Horrible & Disgusting nature. And went to the hot tub before starting my Laps, when a handicapped female warned me about the broken grate at the bottom of the hot tub next to the steps that she just cut her foot on. Registered online for a week's free pass to try out the gym before signing up, agreed to the terms and printed the pass, only to get there to be told LA Fitness would not honor it. Supposedly, their president suspended them for whatever reason but I guess failed to notify their marketing team as it's still on the website. I went to this LAF location for the first time today (6/4/2021). I'm new to the area - my previous LAF is in PA. Decent gym overall, but there are a couple of little things which, if fixed, would bring the rating up significantly. 1 - I was inexplicably unable to locate the 12.5lb free weights. I looked around, and still no sign of them. What happened here? 2 - the overhead fans need a GOOD cleaning. Thank goodness they weren't running, otherwise all kinds of nasty stuff would have been falling on me 3 - one of the basketball rims had a torn/falling off net. Come'on man, spend $5 and replace the net 4 - some of the clocks are displaying the wrong time. We're not talking minutes here, I was there in the morning and one of the clocks was stuck on 2:30 These are all fixable items and are strictly meant as constructive criticism. With just a small amount of effort and initiative they could all be remedied and my rating would approach the coveted 5 of 5. read more

Started working out with a trainer, Alex, when I started physical therapy for an injured shoulder. I wanted to prevent injury to my shoulder and help build strength. It's been 1.5 weeks and my should has shown great improvement already. I went up in weight and resistance at physical therapy in a very short amount if time. The club is clean and the staff is very friendly. The customers I've had contact with are also very nice. read more

Recently walked in to test out the gym on a free pass ended up signing up with a membership on the same day. A month later I'm extremely happy with it for an unexpected reason... THE STAFF! They are genuinely involved in your success and health. Yerick and Rodney are extremely personable, knowledgeable, and supportive. I have moved 30 minutes away since I joined but have no intentions of switching to a closer gym. In addition to the staff, the gym and restrooms are clean and well-kept. The gym is rarely crowded. I iust need to say that its extremely annoying to follow the rules, and mask up for an hour run on the treadmill, only to see LA Fitness staff members (Mr Pink Converse Chucks) work w clients without his mask over his nose....and to see the front desk person (older, blond curly hair) and 2 other staff member not enforcing or educating any of the multiple full mask violators.  Apathy and indifference is never a good look.  Come on people. read more

Staff is rude degrading and belittling to each other in front of potential and current members. The gym is DISGUSTINGLY dirty. All the equipment, from the cardio machines to weights, have a layer of scum and visible grime on them. There is poor air circulation throughout the whole gym especially the cardio area. During one of my first visits a member called 911 feeling faint. The advertising online said there was a smoothie king / juice bar, false! There is a empty space where they may have been one at one point but not anymore! There is a terrible odor as soon as you walk in the door, not your normal gym smell but 1000 times worse...... when we went to cancel our membership the employee never asked why we were cancelling but talked on the phone the WHOLE TIME! Never tried to save the relationship or even cared to lose a membership... DO NOT GO THERE!! read more

The worst gym I have ever seen. They only want to earn money. Trainers are not professional, and they will never let you cancel the training. Thay told me to provide relocation documents and said after that I can cancel, but when I provided my new leasing agreement they said there was no relocation policy that can cancel it, and keep charging me even I won't use the trainung any more. Friendly when you pay, pretty mean and awful when you want to cancel. The only thing that they care is earning money. Totally a scam. Make sure you check this kind of scam before you sign the contract, they will never let you go after signing. read more

Have you ever tried to cancel a membership at this location? No? Let me fill you in. They make it next to impossible. No online way to cancel other than print a form and send to corporate. Really?? Snailmail? This 2020! If you go in person to cancel you get told only a manager can cancel your membership and they are only there from 6-3pm. Um.. most people work till after 4 and wouldn't be able to get there before 3pm. This is a deliberate setup. Not to mention two things: 1) who is managing the place after 3pm? Do the inmates run the asylum? And 2) they have a legion of pretty people that can sign you up but they can't cancel your membership? This is exactly why fitness clubs are a racket and should shut down permanently! read more

When this gym first opened and was run by Chris it was a stellar experience. The staff was helpful, caring, and even ran specialized clinics on their own time. Now the gym is over-crowded, run by a staff that won't return phone calls or update your schedule/sessions, and no longer offers the specialized weight lifting classes that used to be so popular. The trainers have been disappearing left and right and with them has gone the quality. The equipment is nice and well managed (in the sense that it still works) but all of the special amenities that make for a comfortable/friendly, customer based service have slowly disappeared. They are in it to make money and that's bottom-line. The management has changed ever 2 months, which makes it hard to develop any kind of consistency of services. Also, the Glen Burnie gym has closed recently and so this place is now a mob scene. They can't control demand, but it can be hard to get machines at times. Especially frustrating when you are paying for training. So after 2 years of paying for training I quit the service that I once loved and went to daily. Even my transition out of the service was bungled. When my trainer was let go they never gave me a replacement, so I drove there to find out that no one was going to train me and I'd still be charged for the session. When I asked for future sessions with that trainer to be cancelled they weren't and I was continued to be charged for them. Sigh... good luck LA Fitness, you were once a great thing. read more

I love this gym and have been a member since 2013. I needed to change our membership package from a "Family" package that had no flexibility. Will Conaway who works at LA Fitness immediately assisted me and made lots of phone calls to satisfy all my customer needs because our current package could not be modified at all! La Fitness has a great gym with great amentities and it stops there. They are in the money making business and they will do whatever it takes to get your money. They throw their memberships and personal training down your throats but if for whatever reason you need to get out your completely screwed. I strongly advise not signing any contracts with this company. They are actually in a class action lawsuite over their contracts, but I doubt they will ever change. If you ever have a question about anything, the workers keep passing you through to different people because only certain people can answer certain questions. They will take down your name and number and assure you that someone will call you back, which of course never happens. Once you are a member, you the worse customer service because now they have your money and they don't care about you anymore!! Consider using anyother gym before LA Fitness. read more

WATCH OUT!!! PEOPLE STEAL AT THIS LOCATION!!! I'll get into the stealing part in a bit.... So....I sign up for membership after my nephew (19) raves about this gym because it has an indoor basketball court and weights. I went to the gym and asked detail questions regarding my membership and the person helping me really couldn't answer my questions or properly look up my membership on their computer without help. SCARRRYYY.... I worked out on a couple of the machines and was generally surprised that people at this gym did not exercise "gym etiquette"...After you use a machine you wipe it down using the dispensers of cleaner and paper towels. I made a point of doing it and explaining to my younger nephew (14) that this is what you are supposed to do so you don't spread or catch anyone else's' germs. I said it loud enough so others would take notice....Who know.. if it works...but if I reached one person...my job was done. LOL! Generally, speaking it was a decent work out and it wasn't crowded, which was nice.... OKAY....did I mention that they STEAL at this location. My 19 year old nephew put his sweatshirt down (with his car keys in the pocket) and when he went to grab it when it was time to go, his sweatshirt AND car keys were gone. He had to be picked up at the gym and then have new keys made and recoded. Clearly there are some shady people at this gym. NEVER experienced this at a gym before. I was spoiled by my last gym and that has a lot to do with the low star rating. The gym is new, equiptment is nice and new but thats about it. For one, the music in the gym is basically on silent. It is like a library in there. You can hear every grunt, conversation, yawn, etc. I don't know why they even play it. My biggest pet peeve with this place though is the weights. For whatever reason the weights in this place are never stacked, the ones that are stacked are mixed up and the rest are just on the bar or floor. I don't quite understand how this does not get addressed as there are always people that work there sitting around. Granted I'm sure they have some work to do on the computers but there is no reason that when I arrive there at 5am when it opens that the gym is already a mess. It makes no sense. The best part about this gym is the pool. It is open from open til close everyday. Some gyms close them down early, thankfully this is not one of them. For the gyms in the area I guess this is the best for the price. The startup fee is a bit absurd but they do not lock you into a contract. Look for a special if you can find one. If you are not looking for a pool as part of your gym then go right ahead and skip this place. read more

Haven't been a member of LA Fitness very long but it is an OK gym. The equipment and clean locker rooms are pretty much why I gave it the 3 stars. The employees are not helpful or polite at all, there are a few exceptions but the majority of the ones I've been in contact with have been rude. The sales staff is very pushy, I didn't want to commit and just wanted to pay monthly as I also have another gym membership somewhere else. She kept pushing me and pushing to the point I almost walked out until another employee offered to help and she was very helpful. The gym is very cool temperature wise as my other gym is just miserable when its hot outside. Overall I mainly keep to myself, get my workout in and leave. If you have to deal with some of the employees you may just end up being frustrated in the end. read more

The fitness center is starting to show serious signs of wear and tear. When I first started here they had a juice bar and kept the place a lot cleaner. That juice bar is long gone. The wear is starting to show on carpeted areas and the equipment. The high use exercise bikes a are starting to get a bit clunky and noisy. Rowing machines are outdated models in serious need of replacement with something more modern. read more

I love everything about this gym except the opening time on weekends, and the music. It doesn't open until 8 on the weekends. Anyone who's used to going in at 5 m-f won't be able to go first thing on the weekends, because we're used to waking up early and if you're like me, you have to work out right away or it'll never end up happening. Even opening at 7 would make a world of difference. Second, the music makes me crazy. They play a Sofia Vergara head & shoulders ad every six minutes. No joke. I like Sofia as much as the next American, but lord have mercy. You can only hear a head & shoulders commercial so many times. Besides these ancillary points, la fitness is a great gym. I have some serious concerns. While I really, really like this gym some things have occurred lately. First of all a man entered the women's locker room, went into the sauna and quickly walked out . People were changing in full view . A woman stated to me, "this happens all the time". I had no idea!! Secondly, the pool on numerous occasions (three) has NOT had a lifeguard. This, I believe, is not only unsafe, it is illegal. The hardest issue to deal with is that when I discussed this with a manager on duty, I was told to take my concerns to the "front desk" since he was dealing with a new client. That same manager, (to his credit), followed me to ask my phone number. I never heard a word back about any of this. read more

Horrible experience first off Deidra the manager or whatever she is, is not very professional at all. Tried talking to her about my membership and got no where. I got a free personal training session which I used, and the personal trainers there are HORRIBLE!!! HORRIBLE I tell you, literally all of them except for one guy. They hire under qualify wanna be trainers who have AAAI/SMA certification (which means they took a ONE day class on a saturday for 4 hours in class room and magically became personal trainers) I have a PT & Physical Therapy background, so I'm knowledgeable, by any means I do not know everything. But I was asking the trainers there some very basic questions to pick their brains, they do not know anything. They are famous for leaning on machines, and putting all their clients on machines instead of engaging with them, that's what you get for paying for a 1day course personal trainer, with no degree or exercise background. Some of them are meat head, they think that because they can workout and lift a lot weight that will make them good trainers couldn't be further from the truth. Just like because you're a good student does not make you a good teacher. If you are looking for a good personal trainer who will get you results, stay far, far, far, far, far way from there! Go to either Sport Fit, API, Cypress Creek Personal Fitness or Parisi. Also some of their trainers not only are knowledgeable but are lazy and don't even look like trainers meaning they're out of shape! Lastly there is a new guy name Daren or something liek that who walks around the gym all day, never workouts. I think he said he was also a personal trainer, the only time I saw him working out, I thought he was going to hurt himself. His form was horrible. Although I dislike Gold's Gym but I quit LA Fitness in Pasadena, to Join Gold's...much cheaper, and get better customer service, because Deidra & Daren are running LA Fitness club to the ground, and aren't very professional. I would have stayed there if Chris had remained.
