This gym is gross. you pay for what you get. Nasty and poorly working equipment. They get you locked into a contract and will NOT stop taking your money even when you sign the contract and they warn you they will take out 30 more days of membership! I cancelled late November. Got charged again twice in December. I went back in December and spoke with the manager. Who was a typical meat head. He said he corrected it but I just got billed for the 4th time! This gym is NOT worth 20$/month. Pay a little bit more and get a LOT more somewhere else. Club4 has Brand new equipment and Lots avail so you don't have to wait for something working to become available. read more

The gym is a good gym but be ready to go through hell to cancel your membership. I recently graduated school and moved to a different state. I called to cancel they told me I needed to come in person to cancel so I did. when I got there they told me I would have to come back a different day because the manager was not there. whatever fine I came back in the next few days and again they said the same thing. please come back another day. They're website is horrendous for members. you can't access anything to do with your membership. now I live in a different state and will have to drive half a day to cancel my membership. Lies, terrible facility, terrible hours, and filthy. Was promised $5 per week membership when signing up. I've been getting charged nearly $40 per month for my whole membership. I signed up for the amenities including the pool, sauna, steam room. All have been closed for months now. What's this $30 fee I'm being charged for maintenance and updates to the facility? This equipment is ancient. The facility is filthy. Today, I roll up for my workout, which is vital to my mental health, and the whole gym is locked and closed because the power is out. This place is a total joke. I will be cancelling my membership. The services and amenities promised are not provided, and this particular holds is horrible. This gym is disgusting!!!! The bathrooms are always gross and filthy. Sometimes there is soap available to wash your hands, sometimes there isn't. There is dirt, hair, and dust on equipment, floors, collecting in corners. The fans have dust bunnies hanging off of them and they are always on, spreading dust in the air for all to breathe in. I had to leave a class early and cut my workout time in half, because I asked the instructor if she could keep the fan off. I explained to her that I can't breathe with my allergies to dust when it's on. Halfway through the class she turned the fan on and I started to have major breathing issues within minutes, and had to leave. Not sure how a persons hot flash over rules someone's airway, but apparently it did that day. I've made multiple requests to please clean more and no one does. The facilities lack of regard for how they maintain the facility is deplorable. I wouldn't even give the gym a star at all, but I didn't see an option to do that. read more

The employees are very friendly. This is a gym with a lot of fees. Maintenance fees, enrollment fees etc.... It isn't what they advertise. The equipment is not maintained. If something breaks, they put a sign on it and then remove it. Nothing is ever fixed. The gym is hardly ever cleaned. The floors and equipment are filthy. read more

Absolutely do not recommend. The gym itself is fine, however the personal training is AWFUL!!! I signed up and then did one session I came in and texted the manager I can't afford it so I don't want the training anymore and they ended up charging me over $1000 for six months because I didn't email lighthouse telling them I wanted to cancel... Don't you think if I told him if I was canceling he should've told me that detail? Lighthouse WOULD NOT work with me and now it is in collections. I've tried talking to the manager several times but since they aren't affiliated with the personal training they couldn't do anything. I also asked to speak with the personal trainer multiple times and he NEVER called me. I even texted/left Blake several messages. Very irresponsible and my credit is messed up because of him. He never told me I had to email lighthouse to get out of my contract so all those months that were unused training were a waste of freaking money. This place is misleading!! Your typical gym with hidden fees. They advertise that it's $5/week but it's not! It's almost $10/week, double what they advertise. $39 a month! They told me I could sign up for month to month, but didn't explain to me that it would automatically renew and charge me for the next month if I didn't cancel in person! When I went to cancel my membership the guy admitted that it was going to charge me again for the next month! They also don't allow you to pay individually for any classes. So done with this place. Do not go to this Gold's gym location. I signed up for a $5 a month membership December 31st 2021. I canceled it this week after they charged me $136 randomly. Inside they said I actually had a $30 a month membership. When i signed up, i was told it was $5 a month with a one time $19 fee. I paid that fee, but the $30 charges they snuck on me never went through. Then they said i owed $136 for 3 months delinquent and late fees? Then they say they havent offered the $5 a month deal in a while even though they have a sign outside still advertising it? An absolute scam. Anyway, most of the equipment inside is worn down and old. There is a limited amount of free weight space too. I probably will never be returning to this location, maybe never Golds again. Such a great environment. Members and staff are so welcoming & friendly. Lots of new equipment along with an entire room solely for squatting and deadlifting. Any UT students or people in the South Knoxville area, I definitely recommend stopping in this gym. read more

So I was definitely just stoping in from out of state and I saw reviews and was a little concerned about the state of the gym. I advise you to not listen to the negative reviews. And actually could even thank the previous negative reviews. I got in here and I have a membership with the corporate branch of golds and they had to get a little bit of info to get me in and was easy. Andy , one of the managers seems to have done really well in turning this gym around. The equipment is looking good and all the machines I used were working just fine. They've even got this nice squat machine that you can power clean on as well. I thought that was interesting. But overall I'd say this is a pretty nice and clean gym read more

This used to be a great gym when it was The Rush. Since Gold's took over there has been a serious decline with broken equipment, cleanliness, and limited hours. Currently, with even greater limited hours, it is a 50/50 chance whether someone shows up at 5:00am to open the gym. We come this early to work out before work. Maybe the person who is supposed to be here should show up to work. The most positive part of this gym is the sauna. read more

Not the best Gold's in town. One squat rack? No weighted belts? (Update: there is a weight belt now) Cleaning crew will vacuum between your legs even if you are mid squat. It is clean though. I'd recommend the Oak Ridge location. Mark and Logan are cool though ;) read more

This gym in comparison to the Kingston pike one is average. Would love for this gym to be 24/7 I hate that they all had to change their hours I'm so frustrated with that and will be changing to planet fitness. I don't like that the lat pull down bar grips are broken would rather just have the metal bar than the rubber part just flapping with no purpose. Would be nice if they could fix one of the ab machines with the targets to actually work besides that it's a good gym to have in south Knoxville read more

So I am rounding my 4.5 star rating to five stars because there is no option for 4.5. The only negative thing about this Gold's Gym is the lack of leg machines and squat racks, other than that the gym is awesome! I love how empty-ish it is at all hours of the day plus there are enough cardio machines and it is cozy yet spaceous enough for anyone to have and enjoy their workout. My husband and I were members for something around 4 years with no issues. However, two weeks ago, we were notified that our account was terminated. I contacted the customer care line to be told I had requested it when calling in for another issue the previous month. I insisted that was a mistake as I would have not requested that. I asked them to pull the voice recording of the call, which they refused to do. They just kept saying "our notes say..." Needless to say, they refused to make their error right and we are no longer members there. I will not sign up again as I my membership was a grandfathered membership from the previous Rush Fitness. I had a really good membership rate which they refuse to honor now. We are highly disappointed but will not go back and pay the exorbitant membership fees they now charge. The customer service is absolutely terrible and I cannot imagine how a business runs like this and manages to retain customers. read more
