I only had an almond croissant from here and it's enough to earn my 5 stars. The croissant was super fresh, crispy, not too sweet and amazingly delicious loaded with actual almonds. The filling was spread inside by cutting it in half, instead of the filling baked inside which is nice because sometimes those fillings move or get overwhelming or missing . It felt like I plucked a cloud from the sky and sandwiched it between two delicious, buttery cookies it was like taking a bite of heaven. So fluffy and tasty, I can't even find the right words to describe how amazing these pastries are! Everyone needs to try them. We arrived about 15 minutes before closing and boy are we glad we got to try this spot. You walk in and immediately know you're in a family run operation. The ambiance is simple, sterile but homey. Service was excellent even for being so close to closing as we just filled a box with goodies and left. Now for the good part, the texture of the creme brulee is out of this world! Could maybe use a bit more crust but the base was incredibly creamy and flavorful. A number of other pastries were included in our assortment and all were excellent. Definitely a great place to stop for dessert on the way home from dinner and I might be convinced to make a special trip just for a box. read more

Goldstar Bakery has an incredible selection of pastries at extremely affordable price points! I've been a couple times, this time for cakes - all of which were about $2.50 a slice. Next time I'd go straight for the Chocolate Ganache as the rest were fairly dry but had good flavors. All the pastries are phenomenal, and the traditional breads are perfect for snacking and charcuterie. I'd absolutely recommend for a snack or special occasion! Parking is plentiful and the staff are prompt, so know what you want when you get to the counter. read more

This is the real deal! They bake all kinds of breads and desserts. From baguettes to flatbreads, from strawberry shortcake to chocolate cookies to crème brûlée. All made fresh daily and so delicious. So far I've had the crème brûlée (twice) --their custard is heavenly soft and smooth. Have also tried their chocolate mousse cake and their mango cream cake--both are rich and deliciously decadent. The strawberry shortcake is the most normal/usual thing on the menu and it is still amazing. I can't wait to come back and trying the other cakes. (All range from. $2.50-$2.95 a slice. So yummy. In my quest for cake, I came across this gem! I'm so happy I did! First impression: I went to their website and was unsure if what I wanted qualified as a "custom cake" and time was of the essence. I gave the bakery a call to explain what I wanted and how it was a fairly simple concept. It seemed a little confusing on the phone, so I made the effort to go in person. The pastries aligning the case are all so tempting! The smell of delicious bread, coffee, and sweets wafts through the air. They have a nice arrangement of bottled drinks to accompany anything you buy. Don't get me started on the beautiful cakes! But wait let me get started on that ANYWAY... Service: The young lady who assisted me on the phone was incredibly polite, knowledgeable, and eager to help. Those are three benchmarks of quality service and she nailed it before I even walked in the door. When I arrived, I saw a very quaint bakery in a shopping area with ample parking (a blessed sight in LA, and on Sunset at that). I went inside and waited briefly and she recalled our entire phone conversation. We were able to look up the cake I saw online, and she told me it would be a simple design. It only took about a day to make and it was ready ahead of time! Food: Naturally, one goes to a bakery to secure the cake of their birthday dreams. But one must also test out the other baked goods the business has. I hadn't had a cream puff in so long, but it was literally yelling at me from the glass case. So I had to let it free and trap it in my stomach. SO LIGHT, SO FLUFFY, SO HUGE! It was pure love! The CAKE?! YALL! LISTEN! It felt like biting into the dreamiest, lightest, softest with slight give, Oreo. It melted in your mouth and had layer upon layer or Oreo goodness. All I've come for is the fresh baked bread on display behind the counter priced between $1.50 to $2.00. It's solid artisan bread for a fair price. I'll return when I'm in the area. MY ORDER: Matnaqash (Armenian) Pouri (Georgian) MATNAQUASH: ($1.50) After some research, it appears this is traditional soviet-era Armenian bread. Lightly browned, oval with pointed tips and about the height of a small child, this tasty bread has a soft and slight chewy interior with a nice exterior crust. Apparently the scoring on the bread is meant to resemble plowed fields. POURI: ($1.50) The closest I could find online to explaining this was Tanis Puri, a traditional Georgian bread typically baked in a tandoor. I don't know if they bake this in a tandoor at the bakery. This circular bread also had a soft and slight chewy interior with a nice crust. I'll have to buy more of it to uncover the subtle differences between the two types of bread. Regardless, they are both very good. ENVIRONMENT: small, clean, simple bakery. Gold star bakery makes tasty bread, they bake it fresh every morning! If you come right when they open you can get the bread hot, right from the oven :) Also, you have to try their pastries! My favorites are Mikado, honey pastry and Male ideal. They do a great job decorating their cakes for a very reasonable price! We found our new bakery! I stumbled upon this place while looking for a place that was able to make the perfect Pikachu cake for my son's 7th birthday. I searched and found this place that was not too far from my home. I went on their website and submitted an estimate request for this design and another. I was able to get a response back later in the day with the cost and I was definitely sold. The person responding to my emails was very professional as was the lady that helped me in the bakery when I came in to pay and chose the flavor. Cute little place. Ok it's pretty big inside. Never been here at all til my friend wanted to pick up some bread. It's so huge inside but the pasties display wasn't full. Not like other bakeries this one just had the two top shelf full and some on the counter. Which is good they have their basic stuff they sell and not waste it. They also sell bread which doesn't cost so much. Their was someone one ordering a cake I think but wasn't sure so maybe they also sell this too. The service was friendly and with always a smile. Three young women who are helpful and answered my question about the pastry. I didn't get anything but my friend got the bread and a few pieces of different cakes. Very clean inside and out. I'm not joking, we ate an entire loaf when we got home and ruined our diet for the week. It may be the best bread I have ever had because I can't think of any other that comes close. Perfect crust, soft inside, made daily. This small bakery is located in the 99 Cent's parking lot. (A crazy lawless parking lot with zero thought to how it was striped!! Randomly discovered this gem while exploring the neighborhood. I'm amazed that every single cake that I tried tasted delicious! Whenever I go to a small gathering, I buy an assortment of cakes. The cakes ranges from $2 - $4. I highly recommend getting the large Tres Leches cake. It's has the perfect amount of sweet and it's extremely moist! It's always a crowd pleaser. Other favorites that I discovered are their Male Ideal (not sure who came up with the name) and their Mishka Cake (this was perfect and had all the right textures). This is a grab n' go kinda place... but if you must, there's one small table for two inside the corner. The baker highly recommended the moose. I'm not a fan of moose, but I'm definitely going to get that next time. I seriously cannot wait to go back and try the other pastries.
