    matcha latte strawberry tart

I come here often for the steamed buns! They're so fluffy and don't skimp on the filling. There's definitely been times it's a little too steamed lol, like really wet and flat? Thankfully that is rare! I purchased the matcha latte and unfortunately it is too sweet. I believe they use a sweetened matcha powder. Their pastries are also fresh and affordable. Staff are polite and work quickly. lots of seating outside available

Fast service, efficient layout, delicious food. Go get you a snack and walk around to enjoy Little Tokyo

I love the variety of options here. The desserts are great. The doggie pastry is adorable. The cake slices are filling and there's a few choices. They have great steam buns. It's a small location but a must try when in the area.

Yamazaki Bakery serves food and drinks inside of their bakery. They also have a small stand near the exit where they just serve buns. The line moves quickly, but this is a very popular spot in the Little Tokyo plaza area. We ordered an iced hojicha latte and nikuman. I like that you can buy little bites from so many different places in this area and walk around and eat, rather than just going to one spot. The hojicha latte was good and refreshing. The nikuman was tasty, but the filling was not my favorite. It was very liquidy on the inside and not as firm as I would typically expect. It also had a lot of either leeks or green onions or some long green vegetable. The texture was a little strange, but it was still enjoyable.

It's been a few years since I've been here. Excellent customer service from the staff, pastries are fresh and good. They accept cash or cards. Cool little bakery. Prices are moderate.

What a selection of delicious treats and breads. Freshly made and full of flavor. Moderate pricing. Helpful service. I tried the strawberry tart - delicious! Fresh strawberries. Lite and filling to satisfy your sweet tooth.

This place came in handy while I was in DTLA before I was heading to meet friends for Happy Hour in West Covina. It's a tiny shop but had some nice cakes, pastries and breads. I bought a slice of the mocha cake for my friends Bday as a surprise and she loved it! *Meter parking only *Located in a little shopping area

If you're in Little Tokyo, make sure to stop by for a nikuman (pork bun). They come out super soft and hot, very inexpensive yet filling. Love Yamazaki Bakery!

I love coming here ! They always have good little things to snack on or have really yummy desserts. Even if you just want an ice cream they have it! I really like their drinks & the service is really fast. From savory to sweet they have it! It's really a line to enter order and exit, can't really linger in there to long especially when the line is forming behind you. Cute little bakery that I'd recommend.

This place typically has a loooong line, especially in the morning! I'd say it's worth the wait, I always get various items when doing a review to see what the quality is across the board. Across the board the items I tried were outstanding! I had a curry donut toooo but it didn't make it to the photoshoot. Definitely unique, and I highly recommend it.

Was strolling in the plaza and saw this huge line at this bakery. We wanted to get in on that and see what's good about them. After abit of a wait, entered the shop (long and narrow space) and grab a drink. We looked at their limited menu and the popular item seem to be their large steamed buns. Looks interesting but we decided against the buns because we were planning on saving appetite for dinner later. Even tho there is a long line, it was organized and moves fast. Enter one way and continue in a single line through the shop and exit the back door so that there is only one flow for traffic. Made it easier and efficient. All items on display looks so pretty and tasty. I really wish I should had grab a bun. I did get a drink to hydrate from all that walking. Was refreshing.

Located in central ish area of Tokyo town in dtla. Small cart stand outside the bakery. Smelled good, prices were very reasonable. Lady who helped us with our order, was kind and helped us choose which get.it was soft and fluffy and a decent amount of pork and veggies.

Do they have a large selection of mochi? Seems harder and harder to find authentic, freshly made mochi.

Unfortunately no, the last mochi place shut down a while back apparently. There is a great mochi shop across the street from the village though!

I think everyone reviewed about cakes and hot buns. Please let me know about cold sandwich such as tamago ( egg ) sandwich, tuna sandwich, ham vegetable sandwich, and mix sandwich! How do you compare with other expensive Japanese sandwich shops?

Personally I don't think they compare... expensive sandwich shops will always have the better ingredients Yamazaki cold sandwiches are tasty but nothing compared to a shop that specializes in sandwiches

Do you guys do custom orders? We are looking for mini hotdog and mini slider buns for school lunches. Would be buying in bulk periodically throughout the school year?

They do make custom orders it would be something needed to be approved by a manager not too sure on these items but it never hurts to go in and ask for a manager to inquire about a wholesale order :)

    Thoughts on their croissant?

Super fluffy and crispy if made fresh that day.

    Do they sell whole cakes?

Yes. They sell round cakes for about $40 and roll cakes for less. They usually have a couple available of either kind. I love buying a whole cake for myself and just stuffing my face with it. The roll cakes are light and whip-creamy so they're not… Read more

Hands down worth the drive, it's the best dessert option they have. Creamy balanced flavors, well layered, and with a texture that is irresistibly fun to eat. I love the heart container. We bought almost all of every piece dessert except for two along with the ice cream bites. Needless to say, we were not impressed. Each pastry had the same lingering aftertaste which was odd, the fresh strawberry topping was old, the gelatin like texture did not complement the watery centers, and the outside chocolate shell had no flavor. Of course, if you like these details of texture, you may dig it! Just definitely not for me. The ice cream bites resemble a frozen yogurt like texture and although I appreciate the all natural fruit product, the flavors didn't quite come through. The space inside is small, clean, and cozy. We weren't really warmly welcomed but did receive a kind goodbye after we picked up our order and had tipped generously. The Togo boxes could use improvement as they were so flimsy and hard to store in the fridge. The carry out bag is SO nice though. We're happy to have supported the business but will not drive out there again. Try your luck, it is fun to explore!

Love that there were mini versions of these mousse cakes. All of the glazes were done well and the cakes were moist. Earl Grey Strawberry - Light Earl Grey and strawberry flavor. However, I prefer the Jasmine and Strawberry combo. The Earl Grey Strawberry combo did not taste harmonious like the Jasmine Strawberry. The glaze is beautiful. Not only aethetically-pleasing, but the light jelly-like consistency, creamy and smooth glaze brings a beautiful texture. The cake is moist, but you mostly get the glaze. It is a mini-cake, but you can taste everything in one bite. It is small enough where you can eat it by yourself or share with someone if you want half. Sobacha - Good nutty flavor of sobacha, buttery flavor at the end. Yet still light texturally. Overall beautifully done! Hojicha - Beautiful, strong hojicha flavor. Any hojicha lover would love this! Espresso Cookie Butter - Really good strong flavors of the biscoff. But did not detect nor taste any espresso flavor anywhere. Matcha - Light in matcha flavor. Vanilla sponge cake. Buttery flavor at the end. Chocolate Black Sesame - Very strong black sesame flavor. Has a caramel layer between. Buttery, nutty deliciousness! However, I prefer the signature cake slab version. Favorites: Espresso Cookie Butter, Hojicha, Chocolate Black Sesame. SIGNATURE CAKE SLABS Taken from Dōmi website: "Cake Slabs are sliced portions of our signature whipped ganache cakes, crafted for effortless enjoyment without compromising on quality. Each slab features soft, balanced layers finished with light whipped ganache made using Valrhona chocolates--refined, indulgent, and true to our fine-dining-inspired approach to cake." Yuzu - Very good yuzu curd with light tartness and sweetness in balance. Creamy buttercream. Vanilla cake was soft and moist. London Fog Birthday - Love the overall look! Moist vanilla cake. Light Earl Grey flavor in cake. Vanilla buttercream is thick and creamy. Overall tastes like light Earl Grey. Love the rainbow sprinkles throughout the cake! Chocolate Black Sesame - The black sesame whipped ganache and vanilla buttercream is so good! Moist, rich cocoa cake. Not dense like the last time I've tried it. The thin layer of caramel between the cocoa cake really brings the nutty black sesame and buttery caramel flavors together. Without the dark, buttery caramel flavor, this cake would not be as fantastic as it should! The cocoa cake was slightly dry when eaten separately, but with the buttercream, I could not tell and it was delicious! Hazelnut Blood Orange - Tasted a bit of hazelnut flavor. Cannot detect the blood orange. Had to double check my order to see if I got the right cake. Can only taste cocoa cake. A little bit of deep tea flavor or caramel. Hard to detect. Some kind of dried yuzu or blood orange peel on top. It was a bit hard and unpleasant to chew on. This was my least favorite. Favorites: Chocolate Black Sesame, London Fog Birthday. I'm glad I've got to try both types of cakes, but I love the signature cake slabs! I ended up ordering 3 Portuguese egg tarts ($0.99 each), 1 caramel croissant egg tart ($1.75), 1 cheese tart ($1.75), and 1 coconut tart (1.765) for my family and I to try. Everything was pretty affordable and looked so delicious! Out of everything we got, the Portuguese egg tart was the best. The egg custard was reminiscent of egg tarts you get at dim sum (which is a positive imo), and the crust was flaky! It was super yummy. Second best was coconut tart: the coconut filling was tasty with a nice tart crust. The cheese tart and caramel croissant tart were fine but nothing special. Surprisingly, I thought the caramel croissant tart wasn't as good as the Portuguese egg tarts. Overall though, super solid pastries especially given the price! Who doesn't love $0.99 egg tarts?
