I was in town. I love LA and I love finding good food and pastries. I browsed Yelp looking for croissants and I found this place that attracted me. I came in and the young lady at counter offered me the king cake. This cake is only offered on January. The French tradition is that you offer this cake at your house with your family and you cut it even slices and you save the last piece for a poor person. I didn't want to get the whole cake but they had some little ones that I opted for. This cake is very flaky and buttery. It has a pineapple filling. It was very super delicious. Crunchy and just very delicious. I also got two croissants and they were buttery, flaky and crunchy. I really liked them. I was sad that I only got two. Next time I will come and get me more than 2. They have a variety of French pastries and the croissant were delicious I am sure the other pastries were great as well. They also offer cater services for weddings and any occasion. Highly recommend. This is a small place, they offered coffee and different lattes. Definitely coming back.

la chouquette is one of those places that makes you stop mid-bite and go... wait, am i actually in los angeles? it's run by a french couple who somehow recreated the exact feeling of a parisian bakery -- the smell of butter and sugar hits you the second you walk in, french music playing softly in the background, and through the glass wall you can watch the chef shaping pastries like a true artist. and here's the best part: sometimes he'll walk out from the kitchen with a tray of fresh hot baguettes, offer you a slice with butter, and chat in french like you're an old friend. it's a tiny, unforgettable moment that feels straight out of paris. everything tastes like it came straight off a french street corner -- the plain croissant is a must, perfectly flaky and golden. and if you ever see anything with mango or passion fruit, don't hesitate. they're rare, bright, and absolutely incredible. la chouquette isn't just a bakery. it's a little teleport to france, right here in la.

It's been a minute since I came across another French bakery since so many just don't hit the spot in LA. Service was fantastic. I'm assuming Eden was the young woman helping me and she was so sweet and kind enough to name all the available pastries since I was a first timer. Everything honestly looked so good but I went with a croissant ($4.50), lemon tart ($7.50), and baguette ($4.50). They have a solid croissant. It's light and fluffy inside, although a bit softer on the outsdie than I like, it still had a good crisp bite to it. It also wasn't dry but also not greasy or overly buttered. The lemon tartlette though was my favorite of today and one of the best I've had. The filling is itself tart and refreshing, not too runny but very creamy. And the crust is flaky and soft. The baguette sadly I did not like as much as I hoped but it's still good. A nice crunch when squeezed but the inside was a bit too dense. Overall, everything was enjoyable and I will gladly return

I've got to get here earlier in the morning when they open at 9am. Their quiches are such a treat! Especially the tuna one (sorry no photo). Today, I got the ham and cheese croissant (ate it too fast before a photo) and the chocolate almond croissant. For those who are gluten free, the eclairs are a treat! Friendly vibes always from all the staff. A little French cafe on Melrose that's a nice Sunday treat. Or mid-week bonus. TIP: Arrive earlier in the morning before the stock is sold out. Parking tip: Residential streets around the corner have scary signs but it's two hours free.

charming French café exudes warmth and authenticity from the moment you step through its doors. With a focus on traditional craftsmanship and culinary artistry, it's no surprise that locals and visitors alike flock here for a taste of France. The star of the show? Undoubtedly, the freshly baked croissants, flaky delights from scratch. Pair your pastry with a perfectly brewed espresso or a velvety latte, and you have the recipe for a truly blissful morning ritual. Yet, it's not just the food that sets this café apart; it's the ambiance. With its cozy seating, and the gentle murmur of French chatter in the background Delish! Must try

ham quiche (good but served soggy), pistachio cream puff (so bad and undercooked), Mazou (incredible!)

It's more than enough time to run next door and grab your treats. I ordered a slice of the lemon loaf, a gluten-free cookie, and the classic chocolate chip cookie. The lemon loaf slice is huge, I'd say it's the equivalent of two slices, so it's definitely big enough to share. As for the cookies, Levain is known for making them thick and rich. A small piece goes a long way, making them perfect for savoring over a couple of days (if you have that much self-control!). The moment you walk inside, you're greeted by the incredible aroma of freshly baked pastries, and the service was warm and welcoming. I truly think everyone should experience a Levain cookie or pastry at least once. It's worth the visit!

I got a sausage bbang, a chocopie, and a dalgona latte. The sausage bbang was soggy on the bottom and honestly tasted like it was from the day before. The chocopie barely had any filling, just a thin layer of marshmallow and jam. It honestly felt like they used most of the marshmallow for their Dubai choco cookie because it's probably more profitable, instead of properly filling the chocopie. If that's the case, it's better not to sell it at all than serve something like that. The dalgona latte was also disappointing. With ice, the drink only filled to the bottom third line of the cup marking. Clearly, they skimped on the milk. There was also a weird moment when I paid.
