Nothing ruins your day more than getting a bad review - Taylor Swift After almost 20,000 reviews, don't think I'm going to make anyone feel bad at Bottega Louie with a three star review. I was here once 13 years ago, and now just again recently on the dime of a bond attorney. The conversation was memorable (why hasn't the economy collapsed yet with all the bad stats) but the meal, like 13 years ago, was not. Generic pasta and bread in an overly loud room. Service was competent. Frankly I wouldn't go back unless someone else is paying. Your mileage may vary of course. The restaurant won't care, almost 20,000 reviews and all that...
Bottega Louie in DTLA was an absolute dream. Housed inside the historic Brockman Building, the space is soaring, beautiful, and buzzing with incredible energy, but the food and top-tier service truly make the experience. From the moment I walked in, every member of the staff was so kind, welcoming, and attentive. I visited during Restaurant Week and had an incredible meal starting with the black truffle arancini, followed by the carbonara (bucatini pasta, pancetta, peas, Grana Padano - perfection), and finishing with the opera cake which I really love and had not had in a really long time (it was rich and delicious). Every bite was phenomenal. I also couldn't resist ordering the squash blossoms off the menu (cooked tempura style), and they did not disappoint. On top of the restaurant experience, their famous cafe and bakery counter is packed with the most gorgeous pastries and sweets. The entire place is a vibe, and I already can't wait to go back!
Came here to celebrate our anniversary, but the experience was pretty middle-of-the-road. We had mentioned the special occasion when booking, but it wasn't acknowledged at all during our meal-no big deal, but a bit of a missed touch for a celebration. As for the food, we ordered the carbonara and the short rib. The short rib was tender and rich, definitely the highlight of the meal. The carbonara was decent, though a bit heavier than expected and lacked that extra punch of flavor to make it memorable. Service was polite enough, though the timing between courses felt a little rushed.
Bought some interestingly flavored macarons: ultimate chocolate, strawberry, earl grey, espresso, lemon, toasted coconut, PB&J (flavor of the month), Dubai chocolate. The gift boxes are beautiful, with a lovely variety of ribbon colors and thoughtful presentation. Everything feels elegant and gift-ready.
The Bottom Line 4 stars: Excellent food and drinks, great service and a beautiful venue Recommended with some concerns discussed below! Location 2.5 stars: In DTLA, SE corner of Grand and 7th Street. Given the area, I would recommend valet parking but unfortunately the valet is only available in the evenings. I was there for a weekday lunch. The next best option is the many parking structures nearby, but check the rates carefully as it can get pretty expensive. Possibilities for street parking are there but limited, and the area is not very nice and walkable, so proceed with caution. Venue 5 stars: Beautiful venue! Upscale décor and ambiance. Great vibe. A separate coffee and dessert counter and seating, Indoor tables and a full bar. No outdoor seating. Service 4.5 stars: Staff were friendly, polite, courteous and attentive. Food 4.5 stars: Their menu consists of appetizers, pizza, pasta and main plates. We had the Chicken Milanese which was quite good. Their pizzas look and smell amazing... Maybe next time! Drinks 4.5 stars: Full bar, some specialty cocktails, beer. wine and soft drinks. We had the Espresso Martini which tasted great and looked even better! Highly recommended! Billing 2 stars: They add a 5% wellness surcharge to every check. This is noted on the bottom of the menu which not everyone looks at. I simply ask this "Why not add it to your price to avoid surprises later?".
"The macaroon shop," as my friend calls it and I can see why! Such a beautiful spot inside and out. They really have it all: a cute bakery with amazing macaroons, plus cocktails, brunch, and lunch options. It's the kind of place where you can stop in for a treat or stay awhile for a full experience. Everything we had was delicious, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Definitely a fun spot worth checking out!

Food is consistently amazing and the service is always on point. The location makes the whole experience even better (if you love the city) right in the heart of downtown with a great city atmosphere and plenty to explore nearby. It's the kind of spot that feels lively but still comfortable enough to sit back and enjoy a great meal. If you're craving pizza or pasta that's a step above the usual places, this spot definitely delivers. Everything tastes fresh, well made, and full of flavor. Easy 10/10 been one of my favorite places for over 15 years ! Love coming here
We really enjoyed dinner here tonight. There was no wait when we came in so we were seated right away. Our server Thovmas was great and food was delicious! What stood out to me was the exceptional encounter between my kids and George who was at the pizza oven creating greatness. So sweet! My kids watched him for over 15 minutes and were so mesmerized by the process of making the pizzas. He interacted with them and did some cool dough flips. Just super awesome guy. Overall great place, slightly dim with a lot of seating and space. Definitely will return because according to my kids, the pizza and the chef were 10 out of 10.

I've been going to Bottega Louie for over a decade, and it's sad to see how much it has declined over the years. Ever since reopening after the pandemic, both the service and food quality seem to have steadily deteriorated. I keep returning out of nostalgia for what it once was, but each visit leaves me more disappointed than the last. On my most recent visit, the service was noticeably dismissive and a bit sassy. The food was equally underwhelming. The Calabrese pizza was excessively greasy, and while I managed to finish the ribeye because I was absolutely famished, it was overcooked and dry, but at only $65 for the bone-in ribeye with fries, I guess I can't really complain. What truly ruined the experience, however, was the pear martini. It arrived garnished with a pear that still had the produce sticker attached. At best, this demonstrates a shocking lack of attention to detail and at worst, it raises concerns about whether the fruit was even properly washed. Seeing that completely killed our appetites. The restaurant removed the drink from the bill after I asked them to, but unfortunately the response felt indifferent, as though no one particularly cared that such an obvious mistake had been made. After years of returning Bottega Louie, this visit was likely my last. It's disappointing to watch a once great restaurant decline so noticeably, but unless something changes, I can't imagine returning.
The restaurant has withstood a lot of tourist traffic and it shows. Furnishings well worn and Louie has lost its gourmet glam. Everything is good, but the pattiserie selection a bit passive. Our beignet bide when in town. Nutella to go.
Fantastic open style restaurant. I ordered the Caesar salad salad and smelled garlic before they even put it on the table.. hot fresh bread and butter and the branzino was hot and fresh. I ordered dessert however I was too full and couldn't eat it. They have very generous portions.. next time I'm back in town. I will be back!
Downtown Los Angeles but there is valet and plenty of nearby parking. This is clearly a popular place so I recommend going before 5pm. Love the set up of the inside. Beautiful Jack and Jill bathrooms. Ric is the manager who came around to the tables to check on everyone and making sure that everything is "excellent". Napoleon was our server who was fantastic. We had a great experience at Bottega Louie DTLA. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The service was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was beautiful, lively, and elegant. Unfortunately, the chocolate soufflé was very dry and had almost no flavor, so we ended up not eating it. Everything else was enjoyable, but the dessert was definitely disappointing. read more

Still disappointed. However, I will say that to go croc. Madame was much better and they put some thought into it. Also, had the apple turnover which was enough to make me increased to start reading from one to me. I still think it was for customer service not address the undercooked for sandwich and then making us wait for such a long time to bring us the new dish. We ended up having to go to the event hungry. However, when we got back to the hotel, we were able to re-cook the sandwich and it turned out fine. I would still give this restaurant chance, especially since their baguettes and pastries are delicious. Disappointing. Sadly not what it used to be. Bottega Louis WAS our favorite go to restaurant when we visit LA. Unfortunately it has gone downhill. We came here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We ordered the Louis Salad with blue crab and Croque Madame. While the salad was as delicious as I remembered, the Croque Madame was completely undercooked and the bread was soggy. We returned the sandwich as asked them to grill it longer. It took so long to recook that we had to leave and they gave it to us in a togo box without even an apology. Even the bread that they serve with the meal has gone downhill. We ended up buying a baguette. At least the baguettes are still decent. But overall a disappointing lunch. read more

This is my first Yelp apology--and only the second time I've ever upgraded a review. I'm so sorry for the four-star review I left so long ago. I've been coming here for years and have spent way too much money here to give you anything less than five stars. Plus, you make the best Caesar salad I've ever had in my life. If I could go back in time, I'd tell myself not to be such a hard-ass. I'd also tell myself to stay home that one shitty Halloween night. Keep on rockin'! read more

Beautiful restaurant, clean and classy. Service is impeccable - friendly and efficient. We ordered brussel sprouts with candied walnuts and Gorgonzola cheese, fra diavolo (lobster pasta with arrabiata sauce), 16 oz ribeye with fries, chocolate framboise cake, Sangiovese wine and Americano coffee. The pasta was just okay. The lobster pieces were cut so tiny, they were hardly present. The ribeye was good. The brussel sprouts were a bit too charred but quite delicious. The cake with the coffee was the perfect ending. The wine was fabulous. We used Parkwhiz to reserve parking in advance at One Wilshire Building. Parking cost was $8 for two hours and it is a short block to the restaurant. Regular parking there is normally $5 every 12 minutes or $40/ day. Our total bill was $219.33 ( inclusive of 5% surcharge, tax and 20% tip). read more
It's been years since I last came here and it's still as good as I remembered. The decor and service was great, our server came to check on us often. Brussel Sprouts was perfectly roasted and the walnuts gave it a crunchy texture. Lobster Hash - I was surprised it was a real lobster tail. The dish was very delicious. Smoked Salmon Egg Benedict- the egg was perfectly poached and once you break the runny yolk on the egg muffin it was so yummy. Napoleon cake was very crispy layered with very smooth cream. I also got macarons to go and thought it was reasonable in price 6 pieces for $20 and you get a really pretty box. I really liked the Dubai Chocolate flavor. read more
I love Bottega Louie!! Last weekend I celebrated my birthday here for dinner. I made a reservation which makes it so much easier to get seated on a busy night. Sure enough, we were seated right away. My daughter and I love the Portobello fries for a starter. They are so delicious and crispy, and the dipping sauce pairs perfect. For our meal we decided to share a Cesar salad and a pizza. For dessert we actually wanted the CHOCOLATE FRAMBOISE but they were all out. They actually were out of quite a bit of their pastries. The whole pastry counter was completely empty. I asked the server why it was empty and he mentioned they sold out due to graduation season. I decided on the crème brûlée and my daughter ordered chocolate gelato. We enjoyed our dessert. As for the ambiance, if you're looking for a romantic quiet restaurant for dinner. Bottega Louie is not for you. It is a loud up beat restaurant. I personally enjoy it. They have a person making the pizza towards the back and this night a table of guests were cheering him on as he threw the pizza dough up in the air multiple times. So fun to watch! The chefs are also cooking your food with a clear glass around them so you can watch as they prepare the food. Definitely recommend!! read more
This was my first time going to Bottega Louie and I was impressed! I honestly was craving the whole menu. My friend and I finally decided on the pepperoni pizza, the Brussel sprouts, and the Belgian waffle. The pizza was so delicious; it was evidently fresh, made with fresh mozzarella and tomato. The crust was perfectly cooked and crunchy! We were very impressed with the Brussel sprouts. They came mixed with candied walnuts, which was definitely my favorite part about this whole meal. We ate the Belgian waffle last. I thought it would have been too dense or soggy by the end of our meal. It ended up being completely perfect. The only thing I wish was that we had more of that wonderful vanilla whipped cream and fresh seasonal berries. I brought my bff here as a graduation gift. We left with full stomachs and very happy. I loved the decor and elegance of the restaurant. We will return to try the pastries next!! read more
It's still one of my favorite Italian restaurants in LA. This is a very large restaurant with a separate patisserie and bar. Beautiful decor. Valet parking is available, otherwise paid lot across Grand. We had a reservation, but there were lots of empty seats on a Friday night- a sign of the times. Service was okay. Our waitress was friendly but not the most efficient. The tables are also very close to each other and it's quite loud inside, so conversation is difficult. The food is the real star here from the complimentary freshly baked bread to the pastas and pizzas. We had the Gnocchi (5/5 stars) - outstanding and the Capricciosa pizza (4/5). The desserts are excellent too. Highly recommend and worth the drive. read more

My former prof at USC suggested this place to meet for breakfast. Upon arriving here, I definitely believe this is a wonderful choice for me!! Definitely my kind of place :D I love pastries! I can eat pastries as meals!! FOOD 5/5 As I am meeting my other former classmates for brunch, I decided to just have a pastry and cappuccino. The avocado toast my prof had looked amazing!! Pain au chocolat 5/5 It was huge and scrumptious!! I would prefer it to be warm tho. Still it was a good pain au chocolat. Cappuccino 5/5 My fav cappuccino is at Angelina Paris, but this is still a good cappuccino and no complaints. SERVICE 5/5 Service was wonderful! I arrived early and the staff was friendly. Our server was friendly and attentive. AMBIANCE 5/5 I love those seatings by the window. I usually like places with natural lighting. Lots of seatings; Bottega Louie is huge! I've eaten here a handful of times since 2010, long before I began Yelping. I've dined here for brunch, lunch, and dinner, and it's always been a pleasurable experience. Thus, this review is long overdue, but is still a work in progress as I'll have to reacquaint myself with their other menus. Making an impromptu visit here for dessert/coffee on Mother's Day reminded me why BL needs a review. Cuisine: 4/5. Solid. Again, I need to reacquaint myself with their other menus. That said, even without a reservation, it's worth it to stop in to sample their beautiful selection of patisserie and have a good coffee and/or a digestif. Beverages: 4/5. Blood Orange Negroni was definitely enjoyable. No complaints. Service: 4/5. Staff is friendly and unpretentious. Say less. Ambiance: 5/5. One of the few places I've been to in L.A. that reminds me of a Parisian brasserie/patisserie. Lively, but much classier than large chain restaurants. Ok, so the last time I came here was 10+ years ago before kids. Now went back today for Mother's Day with my hubby and 2 kiddos and my experience 10+ years later was amazing. So nostalgic! Had a res at 2pm. Arrived at 155pm and got seated right away. It's still packed but not as bad as it was back then. With the economy and all I saw a lot of surrounding businesses closed. But that's beside the point. Bottega's service, the staff and the food were all top notch. Staff always checking in to see how we are doing, but not at all in that annoying way. Food we ordered were the beignets with this raspberry compote. Soooo good 8/10. Hamburger with fries. Meat was so good and top quality. Fries were made to perfection. 10/10. Carbonara was so creamy and noodles were perfectly al dente with fresh Parmesan shaved on top of the pasta. Amazing! 9/10 Cheese pizza- crust was perfectly crispy 8/10. Soufflé pancake with chantilly cream and strawberry compote. Oh my gosh this blew my mind. We just came back from Hawaii for spring break and had these amazing Japanese soufflé pancakes and these battled them pretty well. 10/10. Also had Bellini and mimosas and both so yummy. The ambiance was amazing and with the high ceilings it made it so whimsical and airy. Parking garage across the street off of Grand was $9. You can valet as well. The service there was impeccable! We waited for a friend for a long time and our waiter was really patient and understanding. The pasta was good too! The tagliatelle was a little bit overcooked but the sauce was flavorful. Overall, a great dish! Also, love their ambiance - spacious and bright. read more

Stopped by to grab lunch to go. I ordered a ribeye, fries, meatballs and calamari. It was pretty busy during lunch but it took no more than 10 minutes for me to receive my order. There's a full service dining area and also a bar area with bakery area nearby where you can purchase delicious and beautifully detailed desserts like macarons, tarts and chocolates. Metered street parking and lots can be found nearby. read more
After attending an amazing evening concert at the Crypto Arena... Followed by a night full of shaking what my momma gave me at a local Latin club in DTLA... Then finally hitting the pillow in the early hours of the morning and sleeping like an absolute baby at the coolest Downtown Boutique Hotel... And I don't know about you... But I'm pretty sure the French Revolution was really started over Brunch and not over Social & Political upheaval like the history books claim ;) So yeah, for those of you whom haven't been to B.L. Yet, let me tell ya.... From the moment you walk in, you are instantly transformed into another world. From the World Class Baked Goods.... Just wait until you see all of the goodies behind their glass case lines. (From their Beignets and Croissants to their Fruit Tarts and colorful Macarons) if you have a sweet tooth... You. Will. My wife went with their Le Pancake (a Soufflé-Style Pancake with Chantilly Cream & Strawberry Sauce) -----Sounds Fancy doesn't it----- and her eyes nearly rolled into the back of her head, I thought she was gonna have a... oh never mind =) As for me... Mine was good, but apparently not that good ;) I had their Croque Madame Sandwich (Jambon de Paris, Melted Gruyère, Dijon & Béchamel with a sunny side egg on sliced pain de mie) accompanied by THE cutest arugula salad ever... Let's just say.... I was ready to meet my maker that day! Yeah, it was that dang GOOD! We did share their $10 glass of Fresh Squeezed O.J. (TOTALLY WORTH IT) by the way... (We were in awe about the family next to us who had about $50 bucks worth of O.J. at their table)... Ballers!!! LOL And of course we each had a beautiful Cappuccino to start our morning off RIGHT! Other Brunch Specialties that caught my eye and are definitely on my radar for our next Brunch outing here are.... -The Lobster Hash ($35) -The 16oz bone in Ribeye with Eggs ($65!!!) -The Tartufo Pizza (Mozzarella, Fontina, truffle pecorino, crème fraîche, black truffle mushroom pâté, soft cooked egg & shaved Sabatino black truffles) ($50) So, who's coming with me and which one are you getting?? I know you ladies are all getting the 'Le Pancake' LOL Of course Lunch & Dinner are also Top of The Class and you really can't go wrong with anything this place has. This DTLA location is their original spot, but they also have a location which we've stopped by once before for some Macarons to go in WEHO (West Hollywood) which BTW has THE FANCIEST restroom that I have EVER seen in my ENTIRE LIFE!! Our server was great and attentive. The fresh bread was amazing!!! If you like the saltiness in the pancetta this is it. They had a new item on the menu ( peach & prosciutto) and wasn't a big fan. Good service overall although the waiter was a bit slow that night. It's a huge space with generous seating & abundant natural lighting. They have a cute bakery near the front entrance. I was headed to a show so I didn't have time to try anything. I had Trenne pasta with braised beef. Let me tell you it was so fresh and tender. We were seeing a concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall Tuesday night. We parked at the Hall at 4:30pm and walked 0.7 miles to Bottega Louie for a 5:15pm reservation for 2. We got there just after 5pm and they seated us immediately. Evan took care of us and was impeccable, very attentive and checked on us frequently. Couldn't ask for a better experience with the entire staff. The Brussels Sprouts and Prosciutto and Peaches small plates were excellent. The Chicken Milanese and Branzino were delicious. The highlight of the meal was of course dessert - Lemon Berry Ice Cream and Cake Opera and box of Macarons to go. Definitely set the tone for a wonderful night out - great food, great music. read more

After having previously tasted their divine tiramisu at a friend's birthday I decided to try the restaurant itself. The service was great and the dark candle lit ambiance serves as a great date night for anyone looking to celebrate. I attended during the dine LA event and ordered the Caesar salad , branzino, and vodka gnocchi. The gnocchi had great flavor able and a wonderful chew to it while the branzino was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth while being topped by a wonderfully tasty verde sauce. However, the star of the show was the tiramisu. It is so airy and moist. It has such a good mouthfeel while also being the perfect blend of sweet and bitter from the espresso. read more

Bottega Louie has gluten-free options, although it doesn't appear to have a dedicated gluten-free menu. Ask the staff... their macarons are gluten-free.

I would call them and ask, and since they have various desserts at the bakery side I'm not sure bringing in your own would be appropriate.
