Okay, so I don't normally do reviews, because who am I and who cares what some stranger has to say, but, this spot is the one post in a decade worth writing about. I placed a last minute order for a cake that wasn't just a basic "whatever" "easy bake oven style" cake, I had to special request a themed cake for a last minute going away shindig, and I called a couple places that were like "sorry" "no time" "nice try" you name it, I called this place and they GOT.IT.DONE. Now I'm not saying just start last minuting requests or anything cause not cool, but they were honest and said we'll see what we can do, and they did. On the way there I called a couple times to let them know how sorry I was for how close I was to running the timer out before they closed, cause I'm normally never late, but they were so nice and told me not fret about it TOO much, I got there RIGHT at closing and not only was everybody amazing and nice, you just could just tell everybody liked what they were doing and it shows in the work, they mentioned they always stay a little bit open even if they hit their clock, but some jerks apparently abuse it, knock it off, again not advertising last minuting a request but only reiterating it because imagine how much more amazing the final product can be if you give them some time to finesse, I'm so unbelievably happy with the way it turned out and they were just super accommodating on, well, every parameter. After seeing all of their cakes, mine was half assed. Maybe I booked it too far in advance. I knew they didn't deliver, but i went with the three tier cake anyway. The box they put it in was flimsy as hell and I noticed when they helped to carry it to my car, the top two tiers were already wobbling. I had to go from their location to a venue in the valley, I was going way below the speed limit. 5 mph it most cases, got as far as making a left onto La Cienega when the top two tiers fell over onto the passenger seat door. Stopped to push them back on top and then the top two tiers just fell over into the seat. At this point I'm pissed, but I have my own party to host. The presentation was ruined due to the lack of properly having the top two tiers supported to the bottom tier. First, the half as look and then it falls over. They create and make custom cakes - anything from sculpted cakes, photo cakes, 3D cakes, erotic cakes, cakes in the shape of a shoe.... Their clientele includes celebrities, so you've probably seen their cakes on TV or social media. Knowing that parking in West Hollywood can be tricky I drove my mom to pick up the cake so she wouldn't have to deal with finding a parking spot. We were fortunate to find a space on the street near the shop. The store is very quaint and cute. The man behind the counter greeted us and was very warm and friendly. I think he may have been the owner. We had a nice conversation about graduations. On our way out he opened the door for us because it was very heavy. He said the door was 100 years old. When we got home we were blown away with how amazing the cake looked! It was very impressive. My niece's graduation colors were black & gold, per our request, those colors were used in the decoration of the cake. The cake itself was spectacular! It was very moist with a fudge filling, covered with vanilla buttercream and topped with a chocolate fondant. I'm not really a fan of fondant but this one was soft with a nice texture and flavor. My niece thought the cake was incredibly cool and she loved it! I would definitely purchase another cake from here, and I highly recommend Cake and Art. read more
