Just came from the Valencia location. Had a great experience. Matt was friendly and made the process easy and informative. He answered all my questions and explained how he determined the make-up of each item (ie. gold, silver, plated etc.). I saw one review that Gold Union was a scam and you would not receive the true value of your merchandise. MATT is DISHONEST / MISLEADING Background: went in selling 1oz gold maple & 25 1 oz silver maples. Both from Costco and in same packaging / unbroken seals. I'm a repeat customer of Matts (after he put me thru the ringer the 1st time) i gave him and gold union the benefit of the doubt.. called in a week before i was going to sell to get quotes around my area (all were around the 92-94% range for both my gold and silver, which i was ok with) when i called gold union Matt (see picture attached) took my call and when i asked what they were buying gold and silver back for he told me he was buying back at 100%(this should have been my 1st red flag and although i knew i wasn't going to get 100% of spot i still gave him the benefit of the doubt!?! I made sure i confirmed with him. I even called closer to the end of the week and again on the day of to confirm and was told the same thing. when i arrived at the store front(this time the new Santa Clarita branch i was again met by matt and once my metals were on the table he opened negotiations for all my assets at 86% of spot (which anyone with any knowledge of metals knows is a low ball offer)... he did the same to me the 1st time when i sold to him a year ago. i told him we were too far off and he went up to 89% for the gold but stayed 86% on the silver. i said no again, which he then went up to 89% for just the gold... long story short i did not do business with matt or gold union this second time around. i went down the street to Coin plus in newhall where i was taken care of (92% of spot for all assets)and he said the reason for his lower offers to me was because my metals weren't "graded". but then why offer me 92 at the end of it? I get you have to make money but not like that? were you trying to get a little extra commission off of me? who else and how long have you been doing this? all questions i don't need answered but just wanting to do my part to bringing awareness to the type of business Matt does and that Gold union allows. moral of the story, that's not how you conduct business. do not lie or state otherwise on quoting. do not start off with such low ball offers because that's not how you treat people. You are what give salesmen a bad rap and quite honestly i don't think you're a good person. and I'm surprised a business like gold union is even employing you, or am i... lastly at my visit to the other coin shop in town (coin plus) that i did do business at. while the transaction was being made i ranted about my experience with matt and at gold union when someone else in the store intervened. they told me (which ill keep their name anonymous) is that a family friend set up a gold 401k rollover plan with gold union. not only did they charge a premium over spot 9% over spot (when others usually charge 3-5% but also when the gold was delivered, rather than larger increments like 1oz coins or bars, majority was in 1/2oz coins and 10 gram bars. what that means is that they are allowed to charge more of a transaction fee since there's more items, rather than having less items but larger per item quantities.. regardless, i cant speak much on this situation since i wasn't a part of it but I'm working with said person and local youtube podcasters/ news outlets on spreading word on this. gold union is based out of western Europe and scaling fast here in the states and no type of business model can grow at the rates there's is without something going on behind the scenes. i get gold has made the headlines and is super volatile and sought after right now but ill get to the bottom of it. if anyone has any other information don't hesitate to email me rozollc@yahoo.com read more

Acted very shady I called over the phone with three bars of silver, they quoted me around 10% off spot which I thought was okay. I explained I didnt have the receipt, or the casing and they said that was okay. I told him I am pushed on time, if the price is lower without the receipt just tell me- he assured me he would give a fair price When I got there I figured it would be around 1k each bar. The guy immediately started walking me down on the price. He explained that he cant verify whether or not the bar is actually real (as if you cant measure density and volume) and that without the original packaging, its a risk for him to buy it. I was irritated because this is exactly what we talked about over the phone before driving 30 minutes to the storefront. We settled at around 900. Then he wrote a very scribbly check. I looked at the check, saw the price at $900 total instead of ~2700. Less than 30% of spot. I was shocked to say the least. I told him to give me the silver back, and he asked me if I cashed the check already. I was still sitting in front of him. I know if I walked out of that door before checking, all sales would be final. In the end I am glad I didnt sell to them, as I just sold them for 10% off spot, no questions asked at another dealer 5 minutes away. Be very careful working with these crooks. I was at Gold Union yesterday with a gold watch. The watch is 14k. I know what the watch weighs without the crystal and movements. It's 38.9 grams. The actual melt value is $3100. I understand that gold stores need to make money, but most gold stores buy scrap gold at 60-75% of the melt value. This is why I was absolutely shocked when they offered me $400. A different gold shop offered me $2500. I asked them how they arrived at the price. He told me that they were buying it at 20 grams and $25 per gram. I won't say what I told him in this forum, but naturally I walked out. If you are selling gold or silver do your homework. I can't give less than one star. read more

They bought 100 ounces of silver from me spot was $50 an ounce and they ended up paying me $42 an ounce but he double talked me He's good at scamming people I had some silver coins too And he lumped them together and made it sound different than what it really was. Very shady place. They are robbing people. I called ahead and was told I would get the fair market value for silver bullion I brought in. The dealer told me after "fees" he would offer me $39 per ounce when the Spot was $51. I've never been offered such a ridiculous price and I've been dealing in metals for nearly 20 years! I went to Westlake Gold the same day and received over $48/ounce for the same silver. They can try to say all day long it was the condition or wear but it's all BS.
