I had a problem with a Defender door lock. Defender door wanted to sell me a new 2000 dollar door, so I called Goldy locks who had to order the lock and Chris stopped by and replaced the lock for the door and only took about 20 minutes. I'll definitely refer them to others. read more

My grandmother had goldy locks out to rekey locks on her newly bought home. The installer did not recommend new locks. He charged her 200 dollars to rekey five 20+ year old locks. Few days later she tried to access the home. In which the cylinder fell out of lock when she stuck her key in and turned. When she called to get the problem solved, she was brushed off and had not received a call back.. when I called I was told they could not come back for at least a day to fix it. So my 87 year old grandmother had to have her home unlocked for 24 hours until they could get out their to fix their mistake. The quality of the keys are superior to your Home Depot's or Lowes and I have never had to come back and have a key redone which is a normality for me when I have keys made at Home Depot's. Drove all the way out here from Aurora to get a key made (the Naperville location was less than helpful and couldn't make my key). After a 90 minute round trip I now have a working key! I would HIGHLY recommend going there and seeing Dolores. She was absolutely awesome! So knowledgeable...I think she said she's been doing this for something like 18 years! She was so nice and friendly too! (I wound up getting there about 5 minutes before they closed on a Friday and she didn't make a stick or rush me out...she made sure I was set before I walked out the door.) I wasn't in the best mood after the whole situation and having to drive out to this location during the beginning of rush hour on a Friday, but she turned the experience around and made it a positive one. I would not do business with Goldy Locks Tinley Park again. Technician showed up HOURS late from time estimate. His reason was that there was an elderly person locked out of their house and that took precedence over my appointment. Okay, but did he even call to tell me he would be late? NO! And he was rude as hell about it, like I had no reason to be at all upset, or call to check on where he was and if he was showing up. The following occurred today at approximately 4:30 PM on 75th St. eastbound at the Rt. 53 traffic light in unincorporated Naperville: The light was red, two lanes of rush hour traffic stopped or creeping...one of your vehicles apparently doesn't know what a red light is and very nearly rear ended my vehicle. I gave the driver a well deserved glare-nothing more- in my rear view mirror whereupon the driver began honking, flashing the headlights and making obscene gestures. When traffic creeped forward a bit more, your driver nearly rear ended my vehicle again before pulling into the left turn lane to proceed north on Rt. 53...your employee felt it was a decent thing to stop next to my car, roll down the passenger window, honk, scream obscenities and make more obscene gestures at me...at this point I did cheerfully return the gestures and also wrote down the info from the van and reported the incident to 911...your company can review what vehicle was where and determine who was driving, I see no reason to assist in that effort. If I had not had an appt. I would have followed your company's vehicle and met the police wherever the vehicle ended up. Rush hour, red light...these are not difficult concepts to grasp. Perhaps your employee needs to become a better driver especially while in a company vehicle; your employee's rage over traffic and almost causing two accidents due to their apparent unbalanced mental state begs psychiatric help. The police did take a report for road rage, aggressive driving and negligent driving...I have no control over whether they will pursue the incident. Rest assured I will never even consider using your company and if (most likely when) this happens again I'll make another report to the authorities...if ever one of your vehicles driven by one of your employees so much as taps or scratches my vehicle I'll sue the employee and your business into oblivion. Having said all this, I have no desire to be contacted by anyone from your business until and unless we meet in court at a future date. read more

Two of the techs from Goldy Locks came out to our store in Lincoln Park today to fix a door that NO locksmith (commercial or independent) would touch for the past 9 months. Everyone that we contacted refused to do the job or wanted an absurd amount of money. These guys were super nice, super efficient and great to work with. . .and we now have two working doors to our store. Went over what needed to be done in our building with the estimator. Charged 1400.00 for repairs. missed three out of 14 doors and when I called THREE times they never returned my calls. They said they would hammer in the pins that were up and didn't. So I had to go over all of the doors to complete the job. The nice thing was the repairman showed me the tool he used. This company is amazing! My business needed an electric strike installed on the door and so many places that I called were not able to do the whole job. Most companies had suggested that I hire an electrician to make sure the power supply was in working order so the lock company can just install the strike. Well, Goldy Locks, Inc. did everything I needed them to do - without an electrician. Our guy who installed the strike was SCOTT! He was wonderful and kept us entertained. He sang country music while working and then had good conversation when the job was complete. We recently called Gold Locks, Inc. to come back out because our door wasn't latching for some reason. Goldy Locks came out first thing the next day and fixed our door without a charge. Also, the guy who came out (this time is wasn't Scott) was very kind and also kept us entertained. TWICE I've called Goldy Locks to ask if they could laser cut a key for a Porsche. TWICE I was told that they could. Lost keys and couldn't get into a house. The guy showed up on time but took an hour and a half to get into the house. After finally using a power drill, and a hammer we got inside the back door. Ruined two locks and increased the costs from lack of knowledge. And then another half hour to install a new lockset. I could have done it myself in a half hour tops. Many companies talk about service after the sale but Goldy Locks comes through. I purchased 5 Medeco locks for my home from them this spring. The order was delivered by one of their techs and he patiently explained each item and the keying procedure. I did the installation myself but while changing the tailpiece on one of the locks I accidentally dumped the contents of the cylinder on my kitchen table. I had about 25 pins, springs and bars all separated and no easy way to reassemble them. I took the pile of parts to the Goldy Locks in Tinley Park expecting to pay for my dumb move. Dolores Miranda, one of their techs, found a spare cylinder from my order, swapped for the bag of parts, and I was on my way in about 5 minutes. No grumbling and no charge.
