John Hanson is AMAZING!! Throughout my life, I had played golf a couple of times a year with my family but had never had a golf lesson (unless you consider the thousands of suggestions my dad always offered). This past week I had 2 one hour lessons with John that were game changers and I owe it all to him. My first one hour lesson was a putting lesson. He watched me putt for a few minutes and immediately saw my problem. I wasn't tucking my elbows into my body and once I was told I needed to do this, it changed everything. My second 1 hour lesson we worked on my golf swing. I have always struggled with making clean contact with the ball. I always brush the ground before hitting the ball. Again, John observed my swing for several minutes before figuring out the problem. He videoed my swing and shared with me. I was leaning back on my right foot too much when I needed to be leaning on my left foot. With this small change, I am now hitting the ball clean (not perfect yet, but an absolute game changer)! I took lessons with Vincent Downie and he did a phenomenal job. It took a while for what he was teaching me to kick in, but if you put in the work, you will see amazing results. Since working with Vince, my handicap has dropped by 8 strokes. I've taken lessons from a variety of coaches, and found Vince to be attentive and very knowledgeable. I have had lessons from 10 coaches over the years. Most needed less than 2 minutes to find enough issues to fill an hour-long lesson. GolfTec charged $125 for the initial 1-hour evaluation. I received an out-of-state call from some lady who said, "Don't expect to receive much coaching during the first evaluation session." Before I took my first swing, the coach asked how many times per week I could come and take lessons or practice. It later became obvious later that these were all parameters to be used in the hard sell at the end. During the lesson, the coach pointed out a few issues from the technology being used. I didn't get the feeling he was all that interested in the evaluation. He left for 10-15 minutes during the evaluation and came back later. After about 45 minutes, he said he could get me down into the high 70's. I thought this was a come-on because he'd only seen my swing for 20 or so minutes. Of course, to get to the 70's, I had to commit to a few lessons per week and some practice sessions for about a year. He pulled out a laminated rate card and told me the number of lessons and time, and I figured it would be more than $4000. Each time I looked hesitant, the coach lowered the price by offering fewer lessons. All were much more expensive than I had paid in the past, including lessons from a Golf Magazine top 10 teacher. I felt that I was being "sold". I have had some high-quality lessons locally for $80 for 45 minutes, and was given written notes to study and told to get to the range several times and practice before scheduling another lesson. IMO, not worth the money, and I felt it was all about the sale of a large lesson package. I ended up not buying any package. read more

Been golfing for around 2 years and never had lessons before but thought I would try GOLFTEC out for my first time. I shoot around 100 every time I play with 93 being my best. I signed up with the first available coach who happened to be Matt Coyle. I signed up for the swing analysis to determine what would be causing the inconsistencies in my swing/game. The scheduled time was an hour and a half. After I spent the first ten minutes warming up, Matt only looked at roughly 5 swings. After the 30 minute analysis was done, he proceeded to tell me that the game plan he recommended moving forward was a package totaling $1,800. He made this analysis after only 30 minutes. After I said no that was too much money and settled for 5 lessons at $500, he left the room to sit in the lounge for the remaining hour of my swing analysis. He said we were done and that I could swing/practice for the rest of my time. If I am paying for an hour and a half, I would expect an hour and a half of full attention. I immediately got bad vibes from him and was rubbed the wrong way the entire time but I thought it was maybe an off day for him and figured I would give him one more shot in the next lesson. I arrive for the next lesson and receive the same feeling that I did the first, which was that he was only in it for the money and not truly interested in helping improve my game. At one point during the lesson I hit a great shot and said "That is the kind of shot that keeps me coming back to golf even when I shoot 100." His response was "That is the kind of shot that keeps me in business." I found this condescending, rude, and indicative that he was only coaching for money, not for the love of the game or to help others. If you sign up for golf lessons here, avoid Matt Coyle. He was uninterested from the start and made it clear his main goal is to make money and not to improve your game. read more

I did a full bag fitting that was split into 2 appointments. The first appointment was for my irons at the cherry creek location and the second was for my driver & hybrids at the DTC location. All in all I am happy with my experience from both stores but the best experience definitely came from the DTC location. Toby was the fitter helping me out with my driver/hybrids. He was great to work with and very knowledgeable! I would absolutely recommend him and go back to him myself. I went through a period were my swing was really getting out of line. Toby was able to identify my problem during the fitting and took the time to stop, give me tips & adjustments, & get my swing back on track. Because of this I really feel I got to make the best out of our appointment and actually compare numbers based on a proper swing. This was not my experience at the other location. Outside of being willing to give swing adjustments during the fitting he was able to thoroughly explain all the factors to take into consideration when finding the best club for me. I went to Golftec at DTC to get fitted for clubs. I worked with Toby, who set me up immediately on my session to update my clubs which were very old. From the beginning, my experience was professional and friendly. Toby's only goal was making sure that I left the place with the right clubs that were fitted for me. The place has an inviting atmosphere, the right type of technology that helped me with my choices of clubs. I figured all of this service would have come at a huge price. So I did my research of pricing clubs that I could buy over the counter/Amazon and such. Toby was able to custom fit me perfectly, and save me money. I don't understand why someone would buy off the rack when a place like this exists. I highly recommend someone who is playing older equipment to check out the fitting here. read more

Had serious issues with my golf game and have tried everything to improve. Found GolfTec through some friends of mine and scheduled a swing evaluation. My coach did a great job of analyzing my swing with the use of high speed video, motion measurements, launch monitors to see ball flight, and they used tour player video to explain what I was doing compared to what top level golfers do. I was amazed at what I learned! I have spent a good 9 months working with my coach on my game and have significantly improved. What they really help you with is designing a plan and working with you on how to achieve your goals. I would recommend this way of improving your golf game to anyone!! read more

I thought the "60 minute lesson" which only lasted about 40 minutes was not that great. The camera system they have set up that is supposed to be so high tech was below average. My whole swing was covered in shadows and when they tried to replay the swing back in slow-motion you could not even see the shaft of the club. The guy was helpful and gave some great tips, but I had a hard time swallowing the fact I paid $125 for 40 minutes instead of 60 and the video I could access online at anytime was so poor. I have taken video of myself on a Samsung in the slow-motion setting and uploaded it to V1 golf app and that was such a better quality video. They were more concerned with up-selling me on golf practice packages that compared to other professional lessons out there were way over-priced. I would not go back to golftec. And the $125 initial consultation was not worth it at all. read more
