I had wanted to check out the tasting and pairings that Gomer's offers and finally got the opportunity to try it. Chef Allen Plemmons did an excellent job with his pairing with the German wines that were showcased by Michael Kvasnicka. Showcasing everything from how to read and understand a German wine label to knowledge and insight on the vineyards them self. This was such a great experience!! Huge Gomer's location! Nicer than those on the Missouri side. The staff was helpful and they had my favorite Ginger Beer (Goslings) on deck!

This place is beyond amazing. I have never seen anything like it. It is 2 stories!!! Their selection is nothing short of crazy. They had all my favorites of course and then some. I probably should have gotten a bunch of shooters of things to try. Service was excellent. Employees were super friendly and helpful. I had to ask one to let me in the restroom. They are locked so an employee has to let you in. I didn't feel like a bother. They have a bar in the middle and quite a few fun snacks. People grab carts here for serious drinking or partying. Very clean, well maintained and just so fun to explore. I arrived an hour early to a Yelp elite event nearby and I'm so happy I took the walk to explore here! read more

I love Gomer's and have been to several of their locations. This one in Lenexa is one of the best. It's a large store with a an excellent selection. My go-to is bourbon and the inventory is good, including some interesting store selections, which are always excellent. I asked the guy on the floor for a certain bourbon I was looking for and he told me "check the collectables upstairs." I've been in here several times and never knew there was upstairs, and had not idea what collectables meant. Come to find out it is a REALLY cool concept. They have all 4 walls of the room covered in display cases with lots of cool "collectables", and among those they distribute harder to find whiskey. It's like a "hunt" among the collectables to find the hidden bottles. Very cool experience. Did not find what I was looking for today but I'll be back. Highly recommend read more

There are liquor stores that are virtually interchangeable and then there's Gomer's in Lenexa. The tastings and classes are amazing even if it can be a bit tough to get into them sometimes because they're great. They even were able to find me a special welsh whiskey I couldn't find anywhere! It's the main place I shop for drinks and I definitely recommend them. read more

Definitely one of my go-to liquor stores in the area. They have a huge store with a ton of offerings, both national and local. What I want to know is, who has been sneaking into my dreams and understanding my yearnings for an alcoholic heaven? This does exist, at 17220 West 87th Street in Lenexa, Kansas. The first time I walked in, I heard a chorus of angels, however, they sounded like the clinking of bottles, being pushed in a mini shopping cart. This place has everything! Even these weird little snacks, which I have never bought, but I still have some years in me, and this could happen someday. Over by the brown section (also known as whiskey, scotch, rye, etc.) I kept noticing people going upstairs. Could anyone wander up there? Was a secret drink-a-thon taking place without me? I followed someone up the steps, wondering if I would be cast out at the top. However, the upstairs is home to what is referred to as "Collectables" - no, not Depression ware, or your Gammy's antique hair clips - this was all alcohol, many in funky little containers. Very entertaining. Everyone is very friendly here, and will help you find what you are hunting for. They don't even silently judge when you buy enough liquor to require a box, or someone to carry to your car. Just a tip - drinking at 9:30 a.m. is not looked upon favorably, unless you are flying to Las Vegas, visiting Las Vegas, or sad because you are leaving Las Vegas. You're welcome. read more

This new store location is spectacular in every way! The parking lot is large and easy to navigate, the space is HUGE, and the selection is insane! This brand new Gomer's store was also built with a second floor tasting room that can accommodate 40-50 people. We live right down the street so Gomer's is very easy access for us. I feel lucky to live near such a great liquor store. We typically stick to just beer at this location but they have everything you need even prepared meals to go. I feel like their prices are very comparable to everyone else. The store is easy to navigate as well. They often have tastings and events. Everyone is always friendly. You can always find someone to help you and there is rarely a wait in line. We often have our 4 year old in tow and they are so kind to her and patient when she takes forever to choose a sucker. read more

The Place to be in Lenexa I overdue on this review and it will seem like I'm here all the time. But's really a great one stop shop for all your adult beverages. It's still brand new to me and it's had a few grand openings. I have seen a few post about being approached if you need help and I can honestly say if you need help with anything just ask. They are not minders and are not used car salesman. They are always professional and if they can't answer your question's they will find someone who can. The exclusive tastings offer to buy on site or back order after the tastings are over. This is the best advice I have for you. Gomer's always brings in the best experts to answer questions and give you all the background you need on the product your tasting. The antique shop is my favorite! Great selection! Newer to KC, looking for an actual diverse store with tons of local crafts and mixers. $28 for the biggest jug of Tito's!? What a steal! Great prices and advertised deals. Well staffed on the weekend which I can appreciate. Needless to say, our backseat is full and we donated $150 to their cause to stay open (place was packed, that was sarcasm). I have mixed feelings writing this review. Half of my experience was good, the other half has led me to never return. I called ahead to ask if they had a particular wine in stock that has been sold out around town. They said they had a few in stock, and would put one on hold for me. I came to the store, and the wine I requested could not be found. Poor customer service. I was nice and told them I had called and didn't see it in stock. After about 10 minutes, and trying to find an alternative (they didn't have another wine we wanted), they ran out as we were walking away and said they had found some. The female manager had found it, who was very helpful. However, when we went to check out with our wine, the guy we had called ahead to ask about the wine had a bad attitude. He said that the wine must be 'pretty special' and mockingly compared it to grape juice due to its sweetness. We would not go back here due to poor customer service and lack of product variety, despite the manager's helpfulness. read more

Gomer's just moved west on 87th to a gorgeous new store west of 435 in the new Lenexa City Center area. The store is clean and beautiful and has a large selection of all types of wine, beer and liquor. They have a tasting room upstairs and we've been to a couple of tastings so far that have been not only fun, but very educational as well. The owners seem very nice and I would highly recommend Gomer's to anyone! read more

I love wine from the Williamette area and haven't found a bad bottle from their selection here. I'm also impressed with the gluten free beer options they have available. This is one of my favorite liquor stores in Kansas City. It is right by my friend's house and I love that they have Free State beer and a pretty decent wine selection. This time I stopped in and purchased a six pack of Free State Oatmeal Stout and a twelve pack of assorted Free State beers. Living in Dallas I can't get my Free State fix. The employees are super helpful and helped me pickn out a nice bottle of wine for my friend for a housewarming present. I will be sure to stop back by Gomer's next time I am in KC. read more

We used Gomers when we needed to buy alcohol for our wedding, and they were exceptionally helpful. They helped us decide how much we needed of each variety that we were wanting. And helped us lock in great prices. They also gave us bar napkins, lemons, limes and oranges to go with our beer. They allowed us to return anything that was unopened which was awesome. I have been coming to Gomer's since it opened and they always have what I need and stuff I want but don't need yet end up buying it anyway. Their selection is huge. So many beers and wines and liquors to choose from. If you know you want a white wine to go with a certain meal but not sure exactly what you want they are more than willing to help you out. Phil is a great assest. He seems to always be there when I go in and has helped me make many a selection. During the holidays they have great gift sets especially with Crown Royal. This place is LARGE! The selection of liquors and wines is excellent. I found some hard to find oregon reds with the help of the staff. I stopped for some IPAs and found little to be had. Of the three that I chose, none were available in the cooler. The pricing isn't as nice as the Gomers in Parkville either. I will stop back for the wines, but not for the brews. read more

Gomer's in Lenexa doesn't look all that big from the outside, but inside you realize it's quite large. Not as big as Lukas Liquors, but big! There's an excellent selection of wines, including a lot of Argentine and Chilean wines which I like a lot and are well-priced! I'll be back to buy some. I went in to browse the liqueur selection, because I like cooking and baking with alcohol, and came home with a liter bottle of Santa Clara rompope, a Mexican egg-nog-type liqueur similar to Dutch Advokaat. It's delicious served over ice cream or cake like crème anglaise (or try it as one of the "milks" in a Tres Leches cake!) or just in a small liqueur glass to accompany coffee. They also had a moderately priced French knock-off of Grand Marnier on sale, so I picked up a bottle. It's excellent for desserts, like Grand Marnier soufflé, chocolate truffles, or an orange-chocolate cheesecake! Other stuff I noticed included a good selection of ports, fine Oregon-made (and pricey) eaux-de-vie, and real maraschino liqueur. The selection is definitely a cut above your usual suburban liquor store and I'll be back before long! read more

The new Gomer's of Kansas store in Lenexa is awesome, beautiful store, a new tasting/events room where they host great events, a collectibles room where they sell historical drinking memorabilia and high-end spirits. They have a great selection of beer, wine, spirits, accessories, and now sell some convenient cheeses and meats for making a last minute charcuterie or appetizer.
