Had been meaning to try Gondola for a year now. Husband and a friend stopped by for breakfast one morning and couldn't say enough good things about it. Tasty food and good value for money. We decided to try the pizzas a couple nights ago and learned about the BOGO deal they have. Meat Lover's was a nice pie, good amount of toppings, not too spicy as far as pepperoni goes. House Special, also good, but a few more vegetables a bit more cheese would not have been a bad thing. Hawaiian was a bit skimpy on toppings and I never tasted pineapple. Best of them all was the Eggplant pizza! Very flavorful. Would love to have double the eggplant and will request that next time. Very pleasant people to deal with. Lots of pick up orders. The pizza itself is ok, but I have literally had them make my order wrong 12-13times. My wife was stuck tonight, it was the only place open and sure enough, she called in an order for two large pizzas and would you know, they made them both wrong, and every time this happens they don't offer a free pizza, just to remake and I have to wait another half hour. I own a jewelry business and I would be bankrupt if I treated my customers that way. First when I had ordered for pickup via phone while looking at the menu online, the online ad stated that you could buy any large pizza and get one for free, but when I placed my order over the phone the guy wouldn't honor the online ad. The owner of the restaraunt is extremely rude and their bogo pizza is not buy one of equal or greater value. If you order one pizza it has to be the same pizza and if you order 2 different pizzas you end up getting 4 pizzas (2 of each). This needs to be specifically stated on their menu. Otherwise people believe it would be buy one of equal or greater value and the 2nd one would be free. I ordered a spanakopeda pizza and one Pepperoni pizza thinking one of those would be free but that's not how it is. I ended up getting 2 of each pizza and paid full price for 2 pizzas. This is very misleading. When I called the restaraunt about it, the owner was very rude and spoke to me as if I was stupid. I will never order from this place again. It isn't "Gondolier" any longer but is "Gondola". They opted out of the "chain". We went in during the COVID pandemic and walked out with two medium pizzas for the price of one. They have a pandemic special going on. Of course we couldn't finish one, but breakfast the next day in our Motel room was special because we still had an amazing pizza that was delicious even cold. It traveled well to Savannah and was still amazing two days later. I can't recommend the ambiance for the outside seating being right on a busy road with loud trucks and motorcycles going by, but the staff was helpful and nice. If I could get uber to deliver it to Kauai, I think I'd order it again. read more

I must of gotten there on a bad day, based on the previous review. Yes, you do get breadsticks and tomato sauce, but the bread was wrapped in a paper towel and tasted freshly nuked. The salad was ok, but the side of blue cheese dressing looked more like a side of mayo or vanilla pudding. I ordered shrimp and clams linguini. Not happy. A huge spoon was in my food, which it was gooey/soupy. The food was so hot, that my tongue was still burning as I drove home. The business is tucked away in a small shop plaza with about six other choices for restaurants including another Italian-style place. I much prefer Gondoliers over the competition. The building is clean and the decor sets the right mood. Service is generally pleasant and wait times are speedy to average depending on the time you go. Breadsticks and sauce are served to every table upon arriving. The bread is actually quite nice. They have a large variety of pizza to choose from and it is on par in taste and price with the pizza served at pizza-only restaurants in the area. What makes it an irresistible deal is Gondoliers has Buy One Get One Free pizzas dine in every day. That is offered no where else here and means you don't have to worry about getting a pizza everyone will like. Other entrée choices are similar to competing restaurants. One negative is the menu is a bit long as they try to cover too much. The result is inconsistency in the quality of the food from dish to dish. Nothing I've tried has been "bad" but differences in the amount of attention given between dishes is obvious. Upon my last visit I was happy to note that they have a specials menu prepared by a new chef and my seafood was delicious from that. One last thing that some might find important for dessert is their baklava is great. They are the only local place I know that serves baklava that doesn't taste like it was out of the freezer section at the grocery. The first time I ate here was with my best friend before she passed away. She had always raved about it and wanted me to go with her. She was right, it was a wonderful experience! I had remembered the food being really good! That was about 5 or 6 years ago. So, today I was as excited about stopping by while shopping. There was a large group seated in the middle and about 3 or 4 other couples seated at other tables. The service was ok, but I was very disappointed in my food. I wanted to take leftover food home with me for lunch the following day, so I ordered the "Tour of Italy", knowing I would have leftovers. My chicken parm was dry and very hard to cut and my pasta was hard and over cooked. The best thing was the Alfredo. Even my bread sticks were hard and almost burned. Service was friendly but the food was not great at all!! Not worth what you pay! The salads were just lettuce one slice of cucumber and two small tomatoes. My son's shrimp Alfredo was watery and my youngest son's child's spaghetti was like canned spaghetti. My Gyro came out with no lettuce and the meat was dry and tough. My husband said that his lobster ravioli was so-so. The deco was very out dated and the restaurant seemed a little on the dirty side. I was not very pleased at all. We ordered three meals for lunch today and we will not order again. One of the meals was a Grecian Chicken Plate that the person confirmed comes with grilled chicken, rice, breadsticks and a Greek salad. When the food did come 30 minutes later than expected, the deliverer was rude and rolled her eyes when we asked to check the food before she left to make sure it was right and still hot. The plate did not come with the salad as we were told it would, but she did offer to go back and bring another salad. I decided to not take her offer as I expected it to take 40 minutes to get it. Ordered pizza and lasagna. Waited over an hour. When I called, I was told that the pizza was delivered to Comfort Suites instead of Hawthorne Suites. I told them to cancel order. Someone called back in broken English telling me the woman that ordered said Comfort Suites. He was not the person I ordered with because that person spoke English. Everything seemed wonderful at first. They immediately brought us delicious breadsticks with marinara, the service was great and fast. The menu offered many options and was quite cheap. Their Caesar salad was also excellent. I knew there had to be a catch somewhere.. after my girlfriend and I received our food (she got chicken Parmesan, I can't remember what my pasta was called but it had many awesome ingredients including pepperoni), we thought we had found the best place ever. It looked to be of excellent quality, topped with melted cheese and basil and stuff like that. Then we bit into the food. The sauce was basically all water. Girlfriend's chicken tasted store-bought. I never leave food on my plate, but I could not get through half of this. I ended up feeling sick the entire next day, it just did not sit well with my stomach. That watery sauce just stayed in my body and was making me reject drinking water. It almost felt like a hangover. I haven't tried anything other than the pizza, but it has tasted great every time and I love the buy one pizza get one free deal. The service on the other hand, definitely needs some improvement. Every time I have been to this restaurant, it has taken way too long for our order to be taken after we are seated and even after we receive our food, our server doesn't check back in with us and we have to track down another random server if we need to request refills or anything else. The restaurant is dirty and needs a thorough cleaning at the very least. I hate to think what the kitchen looks like if the public area isn't cared for by the owner.
