This is a standard bubble/boba/etc. tea shop, nothing too out of the ordinary. But, NINE BUCKS for a tea?? I'm sorry, it's just too much. This went from a novelty dessert/break spot to a luxury item. You can tell me that this is the cost of inflation, that this is the new normal. I call "nonsense" on that. It's too high. I've come to terms with seven dollar large drinks at Starbucks, so why pay even more for a mostly automated product here? Everything is made by machines, and even the ordering is done via kiosk now. (btw, side note, I do love that there is a kiosk for ordering! I'm never sure what I want to get at one of these places, so having the time to look through the menu without pressure is very welcomed!) I'd talk about the service, but there isn't any. There is literally the minimal required human interaction here, so I can't say whether the staff is friendly or not! The drinks are fine. Quite tasty, actually. And you can get them to specification (not as sweet, more or less ice, etc.). I do appreciate the vastness of customization here. Service was good, fast, but the tapioca pearls felt a little mush - not chewy enough. Taro smoothie itself tasted great, I would give the smoothie 4 star, pearls 3 star, hence an average of 3.5. Can't go wrong with gongs cha to fill your boba cravings. The Fulton location is similar to other gong cha's in the area but this one serves egg waffles. The boba was good, and prepared fast. The egg waffle took a little bit longer but it was worth the wait. I didn't get any additional toppings but it was still the right amount of sweetness. Been here 3 days in a row. I am so happy to have this tea place near me! First the ambiance is super awesome! I wish I was in high school again so I could come here and hang out with my friends. They have a cool place to sit on the ground in the corner. They also have board games. Lots of tables to sit at too. The staff was very friendly. The women who took my order were very friendly and patient with me. I asked them many questions each time I came in. Finally the tea was great. I love tea! It is one of my passions in life. I found the tea to be great. My favorite so far was the strawberry green tea with milk. I added bubbles and got 30% sugar. It was amazing. It tasted like a delicious glass of strawberry milk with the perfect hint of tea. I can't wait to come here and try out all their drinks. So far I have been pleased with all 3 hot tea drinks. This gong cha used to be a weekly go-to everyday hopping off from the Scaggsville Park and Ride across the street. The local area is great and I am glad they build this gong cha. Back when I was a regular, the staff all knew me (it seemed like most of them were high school students or young adults) and they were all so friendly. It was a nice vibe. Sometimes they would mess up the order now and then, and depending on the rush it might be a lil bit of a wait as they make the order. The drinks were solid, and they also have the Clover points to allow one to get a free drink every now and then. The shop is very nicely decorated. They have this corner with mini floor cushions and small tables that seems very well put together. There are also a good selection board games, and a wall for any quick pics. read more

I love bubble tea. The toppings. The tea. The boba. I go out of my way for bubble tea and doing so to visit this location was well worth it. This shop is in the same parking area as Harris Teeter and so after shopping I decided to treat myself. I love a good black milk tea with boba and pudding so I decided to try something a little different and get a strawberry milk foam tea. Actually, I take that back. I first tried to order a fresh taro drink, but they were out, so I went back to the colorful pictures on the menu and picked another drink. You really can't go wrong! And alas, this strawberry milk foam tea was delicious. The shop itself is really cute, it wasn't super busy when we were there but there was a steady flow of customers. Compared with the two other locations I've visited, I would definitely return here to sit down and relax with a bubble tea and maybe play one of the board games they have out. It was absolutely packed and they were very friendly indeed. What to get: Dirty Brown Sugar Milk Tea, Strawberry Milk Tea, Regular Milk Tea, Waffle w/Boba. What not to get: Inseminated by your bf's micro-prong-cha. Lovely and shiny and new with so much great decor and little cuddly stuffed animals that I really loved. The only issue is there's a lot of the newer drinks that they don't seem to have on the menu yet, but nevertheless the strawberry black tea that they made was yum and better than I remember the strawberry black at Gong Cha being - except that it was too sweet in a sort of strawberry syrup kind of way, so I think next time I'll have to get it less sweet if I get this drink again. Gong Cha is one of the best chains there is, especially if they have some of their standout items such as the Dirty Brown Sugar Milk Tea on their new Dirty menu, and I also recommend the surprisingly excellent Strawberry Milk Tea, or the regular Milk Tea. The drinks here are still remarkably bad. I was really hoping that my first experience was an anomaly, but nope.. Got 100% sugar in my mango green tea and it's still tasteless. The bubbles have the most flavor--can't taste any mango. I also got a mango smoothie, which was okay. Could actually taste the sweetness in there. Still, I feel like I wasted $11. If I lived here, I would come every time I went grocery shopping. I ordered a large fresh taro milk bubble tea with tapioca, 75% sweetness. I liked the chunks of taro at the bottom and the texture of the tapioca. 75% sweetness level was perfect. They have a pretty extensive menu so it took me awhile to decide what to get. Gong Cha is awesome-- and I continue to be pleasantly surprised by it every time I visit. You walk in and are greeted by quirky, youthful, yet inviting decor. The people behind the counter are more than friendly and will explain the menu to you (because it can get a bit confusing). The bubble tea itself is fantastic and all the flavors I've had were great. I wish the menu and flavors were as clear and expansive as other competitors like Kung Fu though. I've tried the Wintermelon and Taro milk teas, both of which are excellent. It's really nice that you can tailor the sugar and ice level in your drink to your perfect level. The bubbles are always fresh and not too tough or chewy-- the hallmark sign of a great boba spot. The place itself is really nice. There is a ton of seating and a variety of seating options-- from the playful lounge seating up front to the bench that runs the length of the store with tables. Way back, there is a longer high-top table that is great for groups or for getting work done. All in all, Gong Cha is a great addition to the Fulton area. Kung Fu Tea is right down 29 by Columbia Mall but Gong Cha's playful atmosphere and local feel give it an edge over its competition. read more

Totally surprised that there was a Gong Cha in Fulton, MD! It's only about a year old with a convenient private lot and adorable, interior aesthetics. Drinks taste pretty standard to any other location, but 5 stars for outstanding services and consistent quality drinks. I ordered the Large green milk tea with the milk foam and white pearls at no sugar and 30% ice. I also ordered a large oolong tea with red beans 30% sugar and ice for a family member and they loved it as well. Gong Cha does an amazing job at keeping the authentic tea taste in their beverages so nothing is overly sweetened or watered down. Seriously, they're one of my favorite bubble tea companies to go to. Aesthetically, there's tons of wooden tables with drapery for a bit of privacy. There's also a sitting area with pillow cushions where you can drink and chat with friends by the windows. There's one large table in the back where I noticed a lot of people actually work quietly with their laptops. Generally, I don't usually consider boba shops as a place of study but hey to each their own. I'm so stoked that I finally visited this location. Will be back! read more

My boyfriend and I have made Gong Cha a weekly routine for the past few months and every time we go, we try our drinks and think "dang, we really need to leave them a good review." And I'm finally getting around to it. My boyfriend's family is military and he spent several years living in Japan and always jumps at the chance to have bubble tea whenever we find it. At Gong Cha, the drinks, first and foremost, have always been fantastic. We've been probably about 15 times and we both get something different every time. Never once have either of us gotten anything we didn't like. The employees are always friendly, the drinks are (almost) always ready when we walk in, and we've never once left dissatisfied or unhappy. We had one instance where we waited quite a while for our drinks but they were visibly short-staffed so it was a small inconvenience at worst. The only thing we've ever had that we didn't completely love is the waffles. They're good, but not great, and pretty pricey. They're a neat novelty but not something we've decided to get a second time. Overall, definitely one of our favorite places to go for a drink. read more

I am a boba enthusiast. So when I heard they were opening up a Gong Cha within walking distance from work, I was ecstatic. The shop is super clean and has some very cute decor. The staff is friendly and welcoming. There are also board games and card games stacked on a shelf near the back for customers. Tried their strawberry matcha latte. My bros and I have been coming here nonstop since its opening. I really enjoy all of the fruit infused teas and slushees. The slushees are surprisingly really good. They're creamy and very well blended. It's really annoying when you get ice shards in your slush, so I'm really happy that they take their time to blend everything out. The fruit infused teas can be quite sweet so I recommend getting 30-50% sweetness. My bros love their wintermelon milk drink because it's not watered down like some of the other places. My sister got the strawberry creme brûlée and I got the sparkling passion fruit tea with strawberry popping bubbles. My sister wishes she'd gotten the drink 50%, but she really enjoyed it. Finally quality BBT this side of town! This is a really cute location with plenty of IG worthy spots. Expect less of a crowd here. This spot is really clean and they have a lot of seating available. Our drinks came out really quick. I had the matcha with red bean, coffee milk tea and milk foam green tea. Only quality drinks here and the staff was on point with the ice and sugar level. I was visiting my friend and she took me here for bubble tea! I ordered the strawberry creme brûlée smoothie. I absolutely loved it! The strawberry actually tasted like strawberry and the cream wasn't too sweet. I would definitely order this smoothie again In order to place an order you need to call the number, and they will bring it out to you. My friend tried calling the number several times but it didn't work. Finally when I tried on my phone the number went straight through. I'm not sure why but just something to keep in mind. We also didn't get a number so we weren't sure how to know which order was our, or what to label our Venmo transaction. As someone who visited their store almost weekly, I'm sad to say they've lost a customer after my most recent visit. The service here has gotten progressively worse with employees always sitting around on their phones (which I can overlook since they're probably high school/college kids), but it hit an all time low last week. We walked in and waited about 5 mins at the register before someone finally walked over. The two baristas were making drinks and we're busy, cool I get it. When she finally came over, the barista decides to stand there, take a sip of her bubble tea, and then stares at us without greeting us as if she was doing us a favor by walking over. No "Hi", "How are you", "What can I get for you", she just sips away at her bubble tea and stares at us blatantly. I don't ask for much nor do I have high expectations but as a customer I think it's incredibly rude for an employee to not have common courtesy to greet their customers and just be polite. I'm sorry to say I won't be supporting them any longer. Their bubble tea isn't much different or better from other places nearby and I'd rather drive the extra 5 mins to Kung Fu Tea in Columbia where they treat their customers with respect and are friendly. They are a bit pricy as well, but you do get a quality product. The facility is very modern and trendy, with lots of pillows and spots to lounge around.
