I really appreciate the dairy alternatives, caffeine options and overall outstanding service at Loose Leaf. I love this boba shop in particular because it's conveniently located on my way home, inside Pokemoto, a Hawaiian spot that serves raw fish (think deconstructed sushi in a bowl). If you're looking to grab lunch and a tasty drink, this setup is perfect for hitting two birds with one stone. The drink selection is well-rounded, ranging from fruity to milky and healthy to indulgent. The Matchacado uses real avocado and high-quality matcha, blended together to create a drink I could honestly have for the rest of my life. There's something about the sweetness of the condensed milk, the creaminess of the avocado and the chewiness of the tapioca pearls that makes each sip taste SO (underline, bold and italicize "so" for me please, Yelp) good. Better yet, it's consistently well-made and the young team members behind the counter clearly know what they're doing when it comes to this drink. My last visit to Loose Leaf was heartbreaking: they were out of avocados, but the young man behind the counter recommended the Purple Roots instead, which had a pleasantly earthy taro flavor. It reminded me of a classic taro milk tea, but blended and elevated the Loose Leaf way. Their Vietnamese drip coffee is also solid for anyone who wants a strong caffeine kick to the face.
