My first Gongcha experience was great. I was on a long bike ride with my friend and we stopped in to grab a refreshment. In the entrance of the gate was a Filipino food pop up that smelled delicious. We went to order our drinks first. I got a Thai tea with tapioca pearls and my friend something else with 30% sugar. My tea was so good- but I'm not hard to please when it comes to Thai tea. Next we went to the pop up to grab some snacks. I don't exactly remember what we got but it tasted great. I'd like to run into them again on my next visit.

Milk tea at the Oppa Korean Fried Chicken pop up!

I found out about Gong Cha from their Oppa Korean Fried Chicken collaboration. We came to pick up our preordered wings and decided to grab some milk tea for dessert. We got friendly service from the Gong Cha staff. They were enthusiastic about offering samples of the jelly flavors when they could tell that I was curious about them. I went with the star jelly in a taro oat milk tea. Great choice, but I wish I'd known I could adjust the sweetness- because the default sugar level was intense. We realized later that if we'd ordered from one of the two self-service kiosks that we would have been able to adjust that. So there's a pro tip! My friends got brown sugar milk tea with Oreo crumbles and caramel milk tea with Oreo crumbles. I tasted theirs and found them tasty and intensely sweet. However, the flavors were great and the inside was super cute with lots of seating options. I'll be back to try their slushies.

Great location on magazine street so perfect for a weekend of strolling on Magazine and making a stop for a refreshing bubble tea. You have the option to order at kiosk or at the front counter. Plenty of options from milk teas to slushes to regular teas. There are also enough entertainment to hang around for a bit. Arcade games, board games and typically there is an anime on the tv. I plan to go back to try all the different flavors and styles.

I went on a weekday afternoon, ordered through the kiosk, and got my tea almost immediately. There was no line given the time of day, and they had plenty of seating. Keep an eye out for the cute shop cat!

Two order stations, super easy and approachable.

So good! I went in for a bubble tea and was really happy with their selection. Lots of jelly options as well. The interactive order station with pictures made choosing from their many options easy without the pressure of holding up a line (3 stations available). Service was quick and efficient. Lots of tables, games and a generally nice vibe for reading, working or meeting friends.

I was so excited to see that a Gong Cha opened up here in New Orleans. Gong Cha is an international chain that originated in Taiwan and you can find stores throughout Asia and in the United States. I had the Lychee Oolong Tea with Coconut Jelly which was great. This location also has a ton of seating with plenty of outlets so it's also a great place to get work done - very happy to have a Gong Cha in NOLA now!

Wintermelon with egg pudding and boba.

Highly disappointed in this place. I normally don't rate this low. Upon walking in, not a single greeting. There's a kiosk for ordering in front of the counter and I was kind of confused as to if the gentleman was going to take my order or not. I don't mind ordering from kiosk but from the way he looked at me, seem like that was what he preferred me to do. He could have at least smiled, said hello, or some kind of acknowledgment. So I placed an order for the wintermelon tea with egg pudding and boba, using the kiosk. My drink came out pretty quickly. Even the young lady that made my drink, could even at least smile or say thank you. The drink tasted mediocre. The boba was definitely not cooked all the way. It was chewy with a hard bite. I was hoping for a little bit more cold foam also. Eh, maybe they'll improve since it's fairly new or maybe they just had a bad day.

Milk Pearl tea was exactly what I wanted. It's very flavorful and the tapioca was good. You order at a machine and then pick up your drink at the counter. Service was fast. They also have wifi and places to charge your phone which is a nice touch. This is sure to become my go to spot for boba in Nola. Bonus there was a friendly kitty hanging out

Strawberry Crème Brûlée Latte & Brown Sugar Crème Brûlée Milk Tea

I was excited for a Gong Cha in NOLA, because I loved it in Dallas so much. Unfortunately, I was beyond disappointed with the service and our drinks. There's 3 kiosks which is great for taking orders quickly and conveniently. However, there was only 1 person that I saw that ordered before me, and yet 3 others that came in after me had gotten their drinks sooner than I did. I actually waited about 30 minutes for 2 drinks, again, with only 1 person that I know of, that ordered ahead of me. At first, there was only one woman behind the counter and she stopped to talk to somebody for 10 minutes while I and others were waiting for our drinks to be made. Someone else finally came to help make drinks too. The drinks-- the crème brûlée strawberry is good, brown sugar is okay. What disappointed me is that it isn't even brûlée-d and you just taste raw sugar bits around the drink. Wasn't even much of a cold foam either, honestly.

Has quickly become my go-to spot for boba. Very few boba spots in the city, and this place definitely is better than the other shop further down on Magazine St. Good location, quick service, reasonably priced, easy ordering process with self-serve kiosks, and the drinks are yummy! I also love the bubble waffles as a snack!

This is a popular franchise based in Taiwan and I'm glad it made its way to nola as it is truly one of my favorite places to get bubble tea. The texture of the boba was fresh and perfect (soft outside but firm inside). I tried one of their signature drinks - brown sugar cream top and made it half sweet with less ice which offered the perfect balance of flavors. I find that Gong Cha's drinks are top tier as they highlight the flavor of the tea while also delivering smooth flavors and textures. They also have ample seating with board games. I also love how its location on Magazine offers an opportunity to grab a drink while strolling through other businesses on the street. Highly recommend!

If I were rating atmosphere alone- 3 stars would be generous…read more I am rating product and service because adding "ambiance", would do those who work here and their product a disservice. It takes a while to get your order because of low staffing. That said, when you get it of course it's beautiful and tastes great. Sitting just around the corner from Bourbon St. and the hustle and bustle energy that you walk thorough to get here- walking in was disappointing. It's a large open space with seating- and it's QUIET. No background music. It gives late night diner vibes and honestly, that's too bad. Adding music, upbeat- doesn't have to sound like a club but music and having more energy between staff and customers would greatly improve the experience and I believe, increase business. If there were some Fats Domino or 90s R&B flowing out of speakers and staff were smiling, upbeat, dancing etc. it would give more "legendary" experience verses midnight diner vibe. That alone made me not want to come back. Not everyone wants to drink alcohol so stopping to sit for a well made artistic milkshake is a great option. The energy brings down the vibe and experience. Match the ambiance, service and vibe to your menu and 5 stars all day.

This is a cute little place in the French Quarter that I feel is typically woefully understaffed…read morefor what they provide. The staff is always nice, but I feel that they are always so stressed to get the product out. The shakes are so overpriced. The small size is $1 less than twice the size. Now, you can share these delicious shakes with a friend or loved one (either size) but with tip, you're still spending $20 on one shake. Because the shakes are so elaborate and intricate, you're going to wait about 15-20 minutes per shake, even if you're the only ones there. I would love to give them more stars because it is such a delicious experience, but only have one to two people working is a very hard line to draw if you want customers to be patient/happy.
