If I were rating atmosphere alone- 3 stars would be generous. I am rating product and service because adding "ambiance", would do those who work here and their product a disservice. It takes a while to get your order because of low staffing. That said, when you get it of course it's beautiful and tastes great. Sitting just around the corner from Bourbon St. and the hustle and bustle energy that you walk thorough to get here- walking in was disappointing. It's a large open space with seating- and it's QUIET. No background music. It gives late night diner vibes and honestly, that's too bad. Adding music, upbeat- doesn't have to sound like a club but music and having more energy between staff and customers would greatly improve the experience and I believe, increase business. If there were some Fats Domino or 90s R&B flowing out of speakers and staff were smiling, upbeat, dancing etc. it would give more "legendary" experience verses midnight diner vibe. That alone made me not want to come back. Not everyone wants to drink alcohol so stopping to sit for a well made artistic milkshake is a great option. The energy brings down the vibe and experience. The service was incredibly poor. They had only one employee working. She had one speed of extra slow. The men's bathroom was currently closed for an unknown reason and a man was told just to use the woman's restroom while my daughter was in there because there were "stalls". There were paper towels folded up under tables to keep them balanced. The last big pet peeve was the employee disciplinary notice that was posted on the door next to the bathrooms. This is a cute little place in the French Quarter that I feel is typically woefully understaffed for what they provide. The staff is always nice, but I feel that they are always so stressed to get the product out. The shakes are so overpriced. The small size is $1 less than twice the size. Now, you can share these delicious shakes with a friend or loved one (either size) but with tip, you're still spending $20 on one shake. Because the shakes are so elaborate and intricate, you're going to wait about 15-20 minutes per shake, even if you're the only ones there. This place is the palace of indulgence. The milkshakes are amazing. They have a great selection of ice creams and toppings. Not to mention their choices of milkshakes! We decided to build our own and the guy making them was awesome. He made recommendations and really went all in on the presentation. Just fine, I think. We walked by the shop several times during our stay in the French Quarter; and the branding and design were so cute, we stopped by on our last day in NOLA. It was pretty empty inside, so we were able to place our order quickly and had our choice of seats. Customer service was friendly and polite; we didn't wait long for the order to come out and my mom had enough time to get some cute photos at the stage in the back and go to the bathroom. We ordered the 16oz Rolling in the Cookie Dough to share and it was a very decadent treat! We really enjoyed the flavor, but the experience of actually eating it was kinda difficult. It felt like we got more topping than milkshake. The cookie dough bits are FANTASTIC -- I could honestly eat them by the spoonful, but there wasn't enough, especially for being the main star of the shake. The prices are a bit steep for the amount of milkshake you get -- you're definitely paying for the Insta-worthy photo. I can't say it's the best milkshake I've had, but it was tasty. I wish I could give this place a good rating. A Friday night in The French Quarter and only two employees on staff. The line was at the door when I stopped in. I waited in line for over 45 minutes and turned around and left empty handed. The sign at the register states "an additional 10-15 minute wait after placing your order". I don't think there's any dessert in the world with waiting over an hour for. Such a disappointment because I am a huge Blue Bell ice cream fan. This is the base for their shakes and treats. He was calm, cool, collected, and extremely professional despite the overwhelming circumstances. It's clear he takes pride in his work, and I truly respect that. When there's a line 12 people deep, one person simply can't keep up. It's incredibly disappointing that the business would put their employee--and customers--in this position. It's clear they're not properly staffed, and it showed in the wait time and overall experience. The employee is doing his best, but it shouldn't be on him alone to shoulder the load.
