I was excited to try Sweet handKraft, as the interior is genuinely lovely, nicely decorated, well-lit, and immediately welcoming. The staff were friendly, and the $9 croffle, which came out hot and fresh, was truly excellent and the highlight of the visit (a tip I got from another customer, not the staff). Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended. I ordered the Shokupan (Japanese milk bread with ice cream and strawberries), which the menu clearly listed at $13. I was charged $15 on the receipt. When I brought this discrepancy to the associates, they explained that the price had been recently changed and the manager was "not good with technology," making them unable to correct the digital board. I explained that having a misleading price displayed at the point of sale is false advertisement and requested a simple $2 refund for the difference. The associates stated there was "nothing they could do" and suggested I speak to the owner. The owner came forward disgruntled. When I explained the situation, he did not apologize or attempt to de-escalate. Instead, he flatly stated there are no refunds, told me the price was $15, and tried to reprimand me for not accepting his verbal price correction after I had already been charged. He said it's not a big deal, prices change all the time, all this over two dollars, making me feel incredibly uncomfortable. The sheer lack of professionalism, transparency, and simple customer courtesy was staggering. The owner's refusal to honor the price they were actively advertising left a sour taste that no dessert could fix. To add insult to injury, the Shokupan itself was underwhelming and in my opinion, not worth the $15 I paid: just a big chunk of dry bread topped with a scoop of ice cream. While the croffle was a treat, I cannot in good conscience recommend giving business to an establishment whose owner is willing to cause a scene over a $2 error of his own making (although he eventually gave me the $2 refund) demonstrating a clear disregard for community and honest business practices. read more

I don't usually do sweets, but if we get in the car and you say you're going here I'm all in! Found this place on a random search on TikTok and I was down the street. When pulling in, I saw it was packed and it was middle of the day which was a good sign. This place has food items and desert options galore. We went with the ube and chocolate ice cream and the lavender ice cream. We also got the strawberry powder sugar mochi beignets. Ice cream was soft and yummy but omg those beignets. Love love love this place! From the Korean egg sandwiches to the teas to the cookies and omg that ice cream!!!! I've tried multiple flavors but that bananas foster ice cream is by far the best ice cream I've tasted and believe me I've had my share of homemade ice creams. The staff is always kind and helpful when trying to make a decision and great at making recommendations. Deserts are excellent. Everything that I've tried here so far has been pretty good except for the macarons. They have a crisco cream texture that has a nauseating consistency. I recommend trying this place for the ice cream, the mochi doughnuts, and the Korean inspired street food. Here are my observations and complaints: Prices are hefty Unsanitary practices - my friend and I got very sick from a visit. I noticed recently that the workers love to wear gloves, then touch the money in the tip jar, wipe down counters, run the cash register, arrange the pagers, take off their sweaty gloves to puff up their gloves with their mouth, put them back on and serve you those yummy treats. Makes sense we got sick that day. Gloves don't cost that much but they seem to love reusing them. Not a lot of hand washing at least from the the people in the front counter. Garbage service - I've been a loyal customer since their original location. They used to have great service except now. One weekend I spent over $60. 40 the day before and 20 the next visit. I asked for a cup of water to go with my bulgogi sandwich and the lady helping us annoyingly said they only sell bottled water. If you're dehydrated and want tap water, I think they expect you to drink out of the bathroom faucet, (the bathroom is conveniently located next to tables). I would recommend this place maybe after they practice better food handling and customer service. Awesome deserts though! read more

I ordered a pandan latte the other day with oat milk but then the barista proceeded to dump heavy cream into the drink because it "tastes better with real milk." Listen, when people ask for milk substitutes, they have a reason for it. Doesn't matter if you agree or disagree. They're a paying customer and would like to not be surprised by ingredients that are NOT listed anywhere else OR be pressured into accepting. I want to support this place, but it would benefit everyone if these ingredients are clearly listed AND conveyed to the customer before it's too late. Honestly, I was surprised they were open since 2018 just because you don't often find Asian-inspired things in Nola in general. I mean, ya know, usually, people go for the usual beignets and oysters or something. They have all the good ice creams like ube and pandan. They also serve mochi waffles with certain toppings.
