It's Jumbo Jumbo Cafe! How could anyone not resist going to a place with that as it's name? I ventured all the way from VA just to try this place out ( and hang out with friends ) but this was definitely worth it. It's a small cafe, with a small parking lot next to a gas station. When I went here, there was ample parking but don't let the one hour limit scare you. I'm sure you won't find a lot of people here on a Sunday afternoon.. I got the usual, Passionfruit Green Tea with Lychee Jelly. Of course, I got it in the biggest size because why not? Go big or go home right? Drinking it however, it didn't feel any different compared to the other boba places I've went to. The taste felt the same but hey.. you get a lot for what you pay for right? It's okay. I feel like the food is probably the star here. For me, the Taiwanese Fried Chicken was what I was mainly here for. You might be thinking, this is a lot of driving just for some chicken. Let me tell you this. These bite sized, juicy, succulent pieces of chicken will always be worth the trip no matter where I am. I absolutely love that it comes in a small bucket too. It's great as a way to share with your friends but me being someone who just loves food a bit too much, I ate it all along with drinking the tea I got too. If there's one thing I can say about the chicken though; it's not spicy at all. Maybe the other locations do it better but I did not feel the intense heat. That's fine though, I still enjoyed eating it. This is a must get whenever I'm in Germantown.

Friendly service, short wait for take-out orders, inviting interior (clean and modern, airy). However, food is definitely not the same as the Jumbo Jumbo in Rockville. Menu is much shorter and simpler, and the taste is definitely Americanized (unlike the authentic Jumbo Jumbo). Packaging is different too (still good packaging). The kumquat drink is still great (same taste as the branch in Rockville). The fried tempura is so bland that we didn't finish it. It's supposed to be our favorite dish. Don't order that one at this branch (the Rockville store is much better). Taiwanese popcorn is alright but not as good as those from Rockville. Not enough basil (love fried basil). Not enough spice. But not too bad ... Winter hours are 11 am to 7:30 pm

I grabbed dinner with a friend for a sit down meal. The food was delicious and the service friendly. Parking was right in front of the store and free. The ambiance is light and inviting. Wishing it had more seating space but it did the trick. The chicken was tender and fried perfectly. I wouldn't mind ordering from the location again.

A cute little place! I got there right when they opened, so I had no wait to order and it only took a few minutes for my drink. I ordered a Pumpkin Spice Milk Tea, which is a seasonal menu item. They had a couple different toppings you could choose from for the drinks if you want them, so I added some boba to mine. The flavor itself wasn't really that strong, but it still tasted good. I just wish it was a little more pumpkin spice-y.

I've ordered take out/third-party delivery from Jumbo Jumbo a few times and we always order the pork chop combo. It comes with three pork chops, ground pork, boiled egg, house vegetables, and rice. We ordered the pork chop combo and taiwanese chicken (extra spicy; not pictured). Not that crispy by the time it was delivered, but it wasn't a big deal. Flavor-wise, both dishes were good. I always enjoy the pork chop combo.

Came here for boba but was tempted by the shaved ice and taro balls. They were so good! The shaved ice is HUGE and comes with 3 toppings of your choice. The taro balls were like fried donuts with tarp in the middle. The staff are really nice and are happy to explain their menu to you (the shaved ice isn't on the menu, but uses the same ingredients). I have had their chicken in past visits and love it. It is very small inside, but does have some indoor and outdoor seating.

They have amazing Taiwanese popcorn chicken! So so good. We asked for extra crispy and they certainly were! Perfectly seasoned and fried and super juicy chicken. They also gave us huge portions and it was great for the price. I also got brown sugar milk tea boba and it was tasty, too! The bubbles were a bit hard, but not bad. Would definitely come back to Jumbo Jumbo!

    Chicken, noodles, bubble tea

We ordered jumbo jumbo the other day for the lunch special. They offered the chicken, noodles, and a small bubble tea. It came out to $15 each so we got 2 quantity. Honestly, this was my first time and I would say the food is ehh. Chicken was great but the noodles had no flavor. They just put the sauce at the bottom and even though I mixed it.. it was still in flavorful. I did not drink the bubble tea but my sister said it was good. Chicken is good and had flavor but noodles was .

I ordered the Taiwanese style "Popcorn chicken" and once it was done, I sat down right away to take a bite. I took three bites and it was so flavorful and all of a sudden I realized when I looked at the chicken it wasn't cooked and raw. I then thought it was just me and took two more bites of the chicken and realized some of the chicken were raw and some were cooked. I was so sad inside. I let the owners know right away and they said would you like us to make you another one. I felt uncomfortable to eat it again and said no thank you I would just like my refund. They asked me if I wanted anything else and I said no thank you. I was just sad because I wanted to really enjoy what I ordered and my stomach felt sick after knowing I ate raw chicken bites when it ate into the chicken. Sadly it was very important for me to write this review because I did get sick from what I ate and have not felt good for the rest of today till the evening. Pleaseeeeee Check your chicken before you order and see if it was done.

It's usually packed with Asian folks who come for A&J's dim sum-style food. The food is described as "Northern style" Chinese, and it's definitely not Americanized. I've eaten many a bowl of noodles here, but my favorites are the Dan Dan Mian (with hot spicy sesame sauce and peanuts) and Xue Cai Ro Si Mian (shredded pork and mustard green noodle soup). I've also enjoyed Ma La Er Si (sliced pigs ears with hot and spicy seasoning) and Pi Dan Dou Fu (tofu with Thousand Year Egg) - things I doubt will EVER show up on a menu in my hometown. And the dumplings: oh my. I think I've tried them all, and haven't found one yet I wouldn't order again. The only downside to A&J (besides it being a drive for me) is their cash-only policy. Fortunately there are lots of nearby ATMs, but beware if it's your first visit. Prices are very reasonable and portions are perfect, so overall value is great. If you haven't been, go now, and work your way through the menu. Trust me, you'll thank me!

I have kept this place in the back of my mind, with fond memories, however, have not visited in some years due to multiple moves around the country. Recently, my friend was organizing a casual gathering for our friend group, and asked ChatGPT if there were any good recommendations for food in the area that was affordable and delicious, and A&J came up as a top choice. So I came back to A&J after almost 10 years, and the food was just as good as I remembered. The decor remained simple and unchanged, but this is very typical of Asian restaurants. The menu was large, and it's easy to order by circling items you want on the paper menu. We had a mix of noodle soup bowls (so many different flavors and styles) and appetizers, and everything we tried was delicious. Our bill came out to less than $25 per person with tip. I could imagine more pretentious Chinese restaurants downtown upcharging a lot more for lower quality Chinese food (Queen's English, for example). It was so good and affordable, that I actually ended up coming back the next day with a different friend. Overall, excellent experience, and I will be back again soon! One interesting tidbit, my coworker who grew up in the Midwest and only eats meat, potatoes, absolutely no vegetables, started going here for lunch and loves it. I think flour-based items (noodles, dumplings, buns) are really the star of the restaurant, and this can be enjoyed across different taste palates! I hope you will give this place a try.

The fat beneath the skin is NOT rendered however the fat tastes great! The texture alone is not for the faint of heart! The stuffings are rice and seasonings. Every bite is a combination of juicy duck meat, fatty skin and fat itself, puffy rice, and great seasoning. For $68, this dish is so worth the price!!! Lamb pot special $50 (3/5): the portion was amazing. The taste, on the other hand, is just okay. There were plenty of lamb pieces and lots of vegetables. We just dumped the whole dish into a big pot and dumped the accompanying sauces and soups in the pot as well. After about 15 minutes, the pot was boiling and we served. I like the concept where the customer cooks the uncooked ingredients for a cheaper price ($50 for that much food is a bargain). Unfortunately, the taste was only so-so. Beef chow fun and the two other pork and chicken with Chinese bacon dish (picture 4) (4/5): the beef chow fun was amazing. The dish had the correct amount of seasoning and the beef was tender and not oily. The chicken/Chinese bacon腊肉 and pork dish were so-so.
