I drove from central Florida here for a special Final Fantasy XIV Collaboration that is running until the end of August. You have to buy 3 drinks (they have special ones for the event, but you can get any 3 drinks) and you get a card with a scratch off code for an in game exclusive mount, that has only previously been available in Japan. So nerd me - I'm 100% in! Also there is the option to get a key chain instead of the mount card, but they're out of key chains, so fyi. It was FAARRR busier than I expected - apparently there are plenty of FFXIV nerds out there, even if they are all a lot younger than me. The staff did a fantastic job taking orders and filling them. I had to wait about 50 minutes (they were SLAMMED with orders - and you have to order 3 drinks per person to get the mount card). The guy in front of me ordered 12 drinks! The staff all had a great attitude and kept cranking out the orders - with a smile and accurately. I hope they're getting paid extra for working this event! I definitely tipped on my order. The drinks themselves were fun. Drink 1) Cactaur Matcha Latte - otherwise known as a Matcha Matte. This was my first time trying a matcha latte - I have to say - not a fan - super grassy/earthy tasting. The drink does not come with boba. Drink 2) Fat Chocobo Flying Smoothie - this was supposed to be a Mango Smoothie Latte but they ran out of Mango, but were substituting Peach. This drink does come with boba. I really enjoyed this one - super peachy and refreshing and their boba is nice and chewy. Drink 3) Fat Cat Purrfect Latte - otherwise known as a Brown Sugar Milk Tea - my daughter drank this one and enjoyed it. Things to note if you're a regular boba drinker - this place does allow you to alter your ice amount and your sweetness level. They do not offer dairy free milk - all the milk drinks are fresh regular milk. The drinks come in either medium or large and the prices are what you'd expect. When we got there I found out the location didn't have them, so I was a little disappointed. We ended up just grabbing a large brown sugar milk tea with boba for $7. Cute shop located right near my work which made going here to try this place a breeze. Easy entrance and exit with plenty of parking. Greeted upon entering abs we were the only customers. It's not often that I don't give a boba place a higher review. My main complaint with my experience here is that I asked for 1/3 sweetness and the drink was still by far the sweetest I've ever had! The first Gong Cha that I ever went to was in Seoul almost 6 years ago. Since then, I've been to locations in NYC. It's great that a local Vietnamese restaurant has opened a franchise version here in Tampa Bay. The main item that I visit Gong Cha for is their Ai-yu jelly drinks. Ai-yu jelly is a fig jelly with a tropical citrus flavor that has a cooling effect on the body. The taste is wonderful and great for Florida weather. My complaint is that this location of Gong Cha makes their drinks insanely sweet. Even when you order half sugar, it's still too sweet. read more

You can call them and order ahead which I'd recommend because they were a bit slow with the drinks and food. They also sell food btw, we got the crab Rangoon (so good, generous amount of filling!) and the matcha waffle (pretty good... kind of bland imo...but it's a unique concept). For drinks, we got the strawberry taro with strawberry popping boba (Highly recommend!!) & purple sweet potato smoothie with reg boba, no sugar (tasted like they used real potatoes which was good, but I probably should've added some sugar lol). This is a new and very nice bubble tea, dessert place by waters ave. I was too lazy to read through the long menu . So I scanned the top 10 best seller chart on the wall and picked #7- Earl Grey milk tea with 3 jelly. It was an excellent choice. I loved it. Evan better, I got to choose less ice and less sugar for my drink. That reduced my guilt of intaking too much calories. The slippery jelly melt in my mouth and the perfectly done boba pearl was such a wonderful sensation, no wonder people are crazy about bubble tea. Kudos to their Boba chef ( or boba tea mixologist)! Why do they all tend to congregate to the same two square mile radius? Either way, it's close to my house, so I'm not too upset about this oddity. I ended up ordering a mango slush with boba and thought it was ideal. The boba was super fresh and warm. The slush was incredibly flavorful. I could drink this every day. My wife did not enjoy her experience as much. Her go-to order is Thai Tea, which Gong Cha does not make. She opted for a taro tea instead and thought it was far too sweet. If you tend to like things less sweet, I'd recommend going down to 75% or even 50% sweetness. This was our first visit, so we didn't know any better. But unlike most things in my life, this isn't about my wife's opinion. Best boba milk tea in this area. Love the earl grey with triple j, though I usually get it with little sugar and ice. Tried their matcha milk tea, but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Passion fruit green tea was refreshing and delicious, but be aware there's quite a bit of sugar in it (even with no sugar request the syrup is inherently sweet). Matcha waffle was yummy- chewy and not too sweet. Husband loved it. Boba not as chewy and sweet compared to Kung Fu tea, which I agree with the other reviewer is better if done right. However, I find Kung Fu tea is inconsistent dependent on time of day and location. Sure you have to wait a bit for the waffles and drinks, but I think it's worth it for a quality product. I thought they were okay. I was happy to see the bubble waffles on the menu as well as the option for basil seeds as a topping. I had an unsweetened green tea with basil seeds. Loved the Matcha Waffles, it was simply the better tasting one, we also tried the Orginal with Strawberry Sauce, and the Chocolate with Chocolate Sauce. They got a decent drinks menu with lot of options for drink flavors, also they can customize the sugar and ice level. I got a Taro Milk tea drink with boba, the drink and boba were average for me. Drink was ready fast within 2-3minutes. They used powder and didn't mix the powder very well, I could taste a bit of powder texture in my drink, it was still pretty good tasting and they did a good job with making sure it was 50% sugar which is what I reqested. The boba was decent, not as soft or sweet compared to Kung Fu tea (the gold standard for drinks in tampa area in my opinion). My friends got fruit drinks, passionfruit and mango and they loved it. Opened right on Waters Ave in a small strip plaza! One of the first boba spots the Town N Country area (Ding Tea / old Got Tea is on the other side of Dale Mabry so I don't count it). This is the first Gong Cha in the Tampa area too! Since it was the first opening they were doing their BOGO 50% off the Top 10 drinks so I ordered an oolong milk tea, earl grey milk tea, green tea with fruit (forgot which one pops!) and a black milk tea! All were yummy but the boba balls got too hard too quick so it wasn't that nice chewy consistency. Parking is limited here but it doesn't get too crowded in the plaza so hopefully will be fine! Came back to try the bubble waffle and the lemon Ai-yu with white pearl and they were both very good! The lemon ai-yu is sweet and lemony so if you don't like your drinks really sweet then lower the amount of sugar or get something else. As for me I loved it. The only thing about it that I didn't like was the little pieces of lemon that were hard but it wasn't too hard where you can't eat it. It's edible but just not exactly what I would want in my drink. It did give the drink more texture and there wasn't many in mine so I don't see it as a problem. As for the pearl flavored bubble waffle. Perfection! I loved it! So warm and tasty. It's a must try! Blink and you might miss this place. But I'm so glad that Gong Cha has finally made its way to Tampa! Took y'all long enough! As the newest addition to the Tampa boba scene, they bring a lot of additional drink choices and flavors to the scene, along with some food and dessert options. I got the Black Milk Cap Tea and it was great. The tea had great flavor in which you can actually taste the slight bitter notes of the tea. The milk cap provides just the right amount of richness and sweetness to balance out the bitter notes without becoming overwhelming. The interior of the store is also nice, modern, and inviting. I wish there was a bit more seating, but because of the small space, you have to make do with what you have. Overall, great addition for Tampa. I look forward to coming back again! :) read more

Beside the drink is okay, I have to say the customer service is not good. I went in and ordered two drinks with different sizes. The bigger cup couldn't be sealed, then I asked if she could do it. She responded that she couldn't....with little attitude. Then it took 30min to get our drinks. The AC was not working as we were sweating waiting inside.
