"Nopalito Taqueria" is a menu choice at Local Kitchens @ Lafayette. On a warm Sunday afternoon, I…read morewas driving thru CoCo County, and decided to stop by Local Kitchens and see what's new on their menu. ( CoCo County is Contra Costa County for all you non-locals). Using the Local Kitchens App, I ordered for pickup, a Birria Beef Burrito w/ Cilantro and Red Onions added (free). Okay, why did I only order a Birria Beef Burrito here? Because I already tried this menu at the Local Kitchens @ Palo Alto, and I already know I won't like the tacos. I've been following the Local Kitchens brand for over 2 years, and I have been to every location in the Bay Area ( including Davis and Roseville). So the Local Kitchens app said my food was ready in about 20-mins. So I go in, the young lady greeted me, and handed me my order. Napkins and utensils are at the counter. I always pickup my own order, so my review is based on "fresh from the kitchen" food. This Birria Beef Burrito weighs about 19-oz, and is about 8" in length. Recently, I've been ordering burritos from Mexican food trucks in Oakland's Fruitvale District. Those burritos are slightly heavier and 1-2" larger. But what's significantly different is the filling. My burrito from Local Kitchens had a balanced filling of rice, beans, meat, and salsa. It was quite spicy, and didn't need any of the complimentary salsa. Price $13.99. When you order on the Local Kitchen's App, the menu has options for removing or adding ingredients. It was a tasty burrito, and was easy to eat. Items on the Nopalito Taqueria menu include: Tacos, Bowls, Burritos, Sides, and Veggie options. Local Kitchens @ Lafayette has no indoor dining room. It has some outside tables, and a small parking lot. No drive-thru service. The status board can tell you if your order is ready. Local Kitchens is a micro food hall. You can order in person on electronic keypads, the app, or thru delivery apps.

Another great addition to Local Kitchens! LK has several burrito options, and Nopalito Taqueria…read moreadds in a different burrito style to their menu. In addition to burritos, they also have bowls. I've tried 3 of their burritos- Chicken Tinga- Chicken with chipotle & tomato, flour tortilla, mexican rice, pinto beans, monterey jack cheese, crema, guacamole, citrus slaw, cotija cheese. Pretty solid burrito- nice ratio of the various toppings. Birria Beef Burrito- Beef with dried chili & tomato, flour tortilla, mexican rice, pinto beans, monterey jack cheese, crema, guacamole, citrus slaw, spicy salsa roja. Yum, I really enjoyed this one! Not too greasy compared to other birria items, and there's a good balance of ingredients in here. I do wish the burrito was larger, but that's cause I enjoyed it! Grilled Chicken Burrito- Grilled chicken, flour tortilla, mexican rice, pinto beans, monterey jack cheese, crema, guacamole, citrus slaw, salsa verde. Pretty standard grilled chicken burrito, but also tasty. Ordering is an easy process, and you get to pick between a red or green salsa. My biggest issue is that the thingy of salsa is so small that it barely fills my needs within one half of a burrito. The burritos are good as they are, but I do love some red salsa! They also lack the other "free" sides such as radishes, other salsas, and such, but that's alright.

This is a two star review. I came here at the recommendation of a co-worker and want to like it…read moremore than I did. I think the problem is that I couldn't get past the lack of a restroom in the area. They had some portables, but they are making food and we are supposed to eat it. Where are they washing their hands? This area is also pretty cold so if you go, make sure that you have a coat, scarf and hat. I'll never make that mistake again. But because of the cold, I didn't want to eat outside so our food got a cold, but it was good. My husband liked the food he got, but gluten free options are super limited. They get a third star because of the bar! Now there was only one person working there and that's fine because he could go get a snack or something and come back to pour drinks, but again. The restroom issue. Where does he wash his hands, what if he has a cold and sneezes into them, and so on. That's where my mind went. The vendors are quite nice and were helpful and weren't mean when they answered my GF questions and I appreciate that. So, this is like the little engine that could. I can see that it is a gathering spot for people and they have music and speakers which is cool. So I saw and felt a community vibe and people really seemed to like going. If I lived in the area, I may try it a bit more, but in all honestly, Oakland Museum's Off the Grid event is everything I wish this was. I'm sure that they will get there, but don't want to hang out while they figure it out.

I'm not sure if the selection changes as I only went once, but the selection was smaller than I…read moreexpected and there wasn't that many people there.

There is always so much praise for the food from our staff after every event. They go above and beyond by bringing tables and decorating them based on the holiday of the month, which adds such a nice touch. I've used them for our company many times over the past 3-4 years, and every single time the customer service has been wonderful and the food is consistently delicious. The pricing is also very reasonable and not overly expensive, which makes them even better to work with. I truly cannot say enough great things about them. Herman, the owner, is amazing and always makes sure everything runs smoothly. We really appreciate the care and effort their team puts into every event!

I would recommend them to any friend for an event or party.

No service…read moreissues as the gentleman taking our order was pleasant & our food was ready in a reasonable amount of time, however, the food was not to my liking. The smashburger had an off-putting sweet element I couldn't put my finger on; could've been the bun, sauce, perhaps oil it was cooked in? Crinkle fries weren't quality, & the mozzarella sticks had next to zero cheese inside. Forget about a cheese pull, I basically bit into an empty tube of fried breading. Instead of marinara (always my preference), we were given ranch, as it seemed they were running on a limited menu that night. My companion was not a fan of his chicken wings with a sweet & spicy "candy" sauce. I hate for this review to be an exercise in whiny complaints but food like this is the reason I'm apprehensive to try new eateries.
