Camarones empanizado
Gaby M.

The food here is so good! I got camarones empanizados and it's come with rice, beans, salad, and pickled onions. The sauce provided is chipotle and pairs so wonderful with the shrimp. The service was just as great. We will definitely be coming back more often.

There's this cool taco spot just a short walk from our house, and I can't get enough of it! It's the kind of place where the flavors just hit differently, and it feels like a hidden gem right in our neighborhood. Perfect for those spontaneous taco cravings!

Before knowing we five were there for my birthday, manager Jose stepped up to help us with the menu. We don't speak Spanish. His help was awesome. Then, when he learned it was my birthday ... well, he and the staff made things festive. The food was generous, reasonably priced and so very tasty. Two thumbs-up taqueria!

I just walked in here while I was waiting for my food and I'm so happy I did, anything you can think of they have it! I got rice and beans, chicken mole, and birria already made and a slice of tres leches cake for Father's Day. The service was so nice and helpful, I will definitely be returning.

We stopped into this taqueria planning on just getting chips and salsa but after seeing the chickens roasting on the barbecue out front it was hard not to get a couple tacos a piece. We met Edgar, the owner of the taqueria inside this market, and he was super friendly and even shared a little of their house made horchata with us. It was delicious and I've never been a person who really likes horchata. I would definitely order a glass of it next time I'm in there. They're salsa bar is no longer in place since dining has changed so much recently, but they give you plenty of hot and mild salsas to go and even have habanero infused onions which were outstanding. Edgar and his team were all very friendly, the restaurant was clean, and food came out fast... but still gave me enough time to purchase some delicious beef jerky at the market while I waited. Bomb!!

Not the first, but the last time going to this hole in the wall market. Worst customer service that I have ever experienced in a Mexican/ Latino market. Rude employees that prefer to LIE to their customers instead of helping them. If you don't care about that, then be careful and check dates on their products as many of them are expired. Prices are also missing or many times wrong on items as well as overpriced. Again, watch out and be careful, the meat is the opposite from fresh and stale looking AND is also overpriced. The cheese "department" is very limited. The taqueria, I have never tried it and I would not try it either after seen the meat... In summary, don't waste your time going to this mini market unless that you want to feel ripped off and end your day on a negative tone. I Hope this review help fellow customers make better decisions on where to conduct business. Because of the pandemic, these are times of financial hardship. Shops like this need to value customers.

Great food & great service. Tacos are my favorite! Then I wash them down with the agua de piña.

I came to visit this place after having lunch next door, and decided to buy a couple of bottles of…read morebarbecue spices and a half rack of ribs to go. One of the ladies at the counter was kind enough to explain subtle taste differences between the spice bottles, there are actual dry rub spices and there are bottles of barbecue sauce in different sublime flavors. There is a very long front counter at the meat/deli with different side dishes which traditionally accompany the barbecued meats, such as a counter with cooked meats to order to eat, a counter of deli meats and cheeses, plus a counter of raw meats to purchase to take meat home in order to do your own barbecuing or baking at home. Various shoppers were buying food to eat there, the place has several small tables along the interior walls to sit down and eat, other people bought meat to go, either the already barbecued meat, or raw meat or deli meat to go. I tried out the tequila lime half rack of ribs, which I brought home for dinner. It was tasty, nicely barbecued and seasoned, and does go perfectly with whatever sides you choose to buy. There are plenty of choices if you feel like buying barbecue or deli, especially when you don't feel like prepping the grill outside for your barbecued meals. This is also a place you can cater for a large party, there's a catering menu where you can pre-order your meats, whatever you'd want to serve when you're planning to entertain your guests or tail gate. I would come here again if I'm in the area, having barbecue without cooking is a very good choice, especially if you're too lazy to fire up the barbecue pit at home. There is plenty of parking at the lot available locate in the front of the store. Do try Kinder's if you're wanting to take a break from driving the long 680 freeway in the SF East Bay, it's a little off the beaten track for just a few miles, but if you live in the East Bay, it's a drive completely worth it in order to avoid cooking barbecue yourself!

It was one big meal or two smaller meals. Caution taking it to go and saving for later since the sauce/dressing inside can make it soggy and more difficult and messy to eat. My partner had the single cheese burger which I was told was about 1/3 lb. They enjoyed it. Again good but not amazing.

The ribs were decent--I'd give them a solid B-. I'd order those again (but I wouldn't actually come back). The chicken was surprisingly good too, especially for the price (I'd maybe do the chicken if I was in the area and hungry). The biggest disappointment was the takeout. We actually wanted to eat at the restaurant but the service was a disaster. We awkwardly stood there for about 10 minutes before we could order. And it was until we said we would just leave since you guys obviously can't attend to the three tables in your restaurant. It was very poorly executed and left a lot to be desired. Kinders is a prime example of why I usually avoid chain and brand-name BBQ restaurants. They often rely on the name more than the food, and unfortunately this visit lived up to that stereotype. Ultimately food was below average, over priced service was weak, and the ambiance was vanilla. Save your money it is not worth it

Awhile back, I tried to bring as much business to Star Meat as I could because 1. it's a small business and 2. it's inside Star Grocery (which I LOVE, so it's convenient). When I would go there, there would often be 2 or 3 people behind the counter and oftentimes I would be the only customer. I felt like I had to stand there forever before anyone even acknowledged I existed. Each person would be busy doing something, but there was no "I'll be with you in 2 minutes." Finally, I went one day and there were 3 workers behind the counter chatting with each other. I was the only customer and was standing around 6 feet away from them, looking right at them. They went on with there conversation (not doing any other work) for a full 5 minutes. Finally I thought, "OK, they really don't seem to want my business, so I can go to any one of 4 other places and get what I want." That was a year or two ago. So, today I thought, why not give it another try, it's certainly convenient. Again, I'm the only customer at the counter. One guy is washing equipment and two guys are making sandwiches. I know that they know that I'm there, there are mirrors all along the back wall exactly for the purpose of seeing the customers. After around 4 minutes I think, who knows how long I'm going to be standing here. Maybe they have to make 20 sandwiches and I'll be here for a half hour. So, I left. I don't have anything like this experience at the 4 other meat counters I go to in the area. I'm totally fine waiting if I have some sense that I'm waiting for a purpose and that the worker will get to me as soon as they can. But at Star Meat, it feels like I'm more of an inconvenience than a customer. "Hi, I'll be with you as soon as I can," goes a long way.

Glad we were able to track them down cause their sandwiches look so basic in pics but are so darn good. The market is cool too but I'm always gonna start by bee lining it to the deli in back of the shop to order one of their daily sandwiches. They make 3 flavors each day. 18$ a pop. Delicious.
