I was at the Lafayette Art & Wine Festival and ran across Susie Cakes and got excited. I didn't know there was one in Lafayette. So of course I stopped by. I saw all the pretty decorated cakes, cupcakes and big cookies. I looked at the top of the counter and saw a banana chocolate chip bread and I scooped that one up to go. The employees looked so cute in their uniforms and the cashier who rang up my order was super friendly. I got home and tried a slice of bread. It's was so moist and the icing on top was perfectly sweet and glad to see that it wasn't globbed on so heavily. I will definitely come by again the next time I'm in town. read more

I usually get just the standard vanilla and chocolate for my kids' birthday parties, but I decided to add the strawberry ones and am so glad that I did. The strawberry ones were completely gone at the end. Service was outstanding. It was my first time there and Mt. Diablo Blvd was closed due to a weekend event. Sunshine and her colleague stayed on the phone with me and navved me through the backstreets so that I could pull up on their back parking lot. We've enjoyed ordering cakes or cupcakes for celebrations. However, I'm extremely disappointed that you can no longer choose your cupcakes through an online order. They now come in bundles determined by Susie Cakes. That simply does not work for us. The customer should be able to select the flavors in the assortment. This is simply a process that does not put the customer first. Cakes are a treat eaten rarely so don't push flavors we don't want on the customer. read more

I think it proves that SusieCakes is very consistent and you know what you're gonna get and you're gonna like it! When I compare the pictures, I did get more sprinkles this year than I did the last time on my little chocolate! the service is always great. We were in the Lafayette area recently and craving cupcakes. I remembered we had actually been to SusieCakes about a decade ago and were happy to see they were still around and still highly rated. Got there just before closing and was able to pick up a box of 4 delicious cupcakes. The red velvet and peanut butter ones were my favorites. The store was clean and inviting with friendly employees. They were genuinely appreciative of our business. Parking is a bit tight around the area and the curb right in front of SusieCakes and its neighboring shops is blocked off. I had such an unpleasant experience with this location. I ordered two 6" cakes and 1 dozen cupcakes over 1 week ago knowing that the vintage cakes need to be preordered 48 hours in advance. I set the pick up time at 10:45 AM on the day of my daughter's party and sent a family member to pick it up at 2PM. When she arrived at my house, she only had ONE cake with her. In a panic, I called the bakery and it turns out the vintage cake was still in the kitchen and wasn't boxed up nor were the cupcakes. We live 40 minutes away and I had to send someone else to pick up the remainder of the order! Imagine the stress of coordinating and planning a kids party already! Stopped by to pick-up a cake on behalf of my cousin for Mother's Day. The process was easy. I wasn't expecting to see that many people in the store, but totally disregarded the fact that it was actually Mother's Day the next day. The wait was not too bad. I was distracted by their pretty in-store display of already made cakes and cupcakes -- while trying to decide which cupcakes I wanted to pick-up myself to give. The guy who helped me was very nice and patient. It was a little hard to hear due to the others that were inside I think, but it was ok. I thought I had ordered 5 cupcakes, but when I got home I had 8. All good, as there were 3 moms around so each got to have a "Mom" cupcake along with a slice of cake! Strawberry rosé = adore the name, the look, and the taste Lemon = didn't try because I know its my mom's fave flavor Red velvet = Mom cupcake Raspberry Vanilla Cake = cute and not too sweet for my palette which was great b/c I was able to eat the entire slice plus the frosting. Easy to find parking in the surrounding area. I parked at a meter, but saw there was also a parking lot around the back. Nice downtown area to walk around on a nice sunny and warm day. The only bad part is that I didn't really have any cell service -- I couldn't really check-in on the Yelp app, nor sign up for their app while I was in store. I don't think this was my first time having SusieCakes, but I don't recall the exact time I've had it in the past. Would recommend any party or special occasion ordering ahead of time. They also have a few party supplies in-store such as candles, decorations, fancy plates, and fancy napkins. Great service but unfortunately I didn't like the cake! I was shocked because it smelled delicious in there, like cake batter that I'd want to lick off the spoon. But I didn't enjoy the vanilla celebration cake. Super sweet and flavor wasn't there for me personally. But my bff doesn't even like cake at all and she LOVES the vanilla celebration cake. Good cupcakes. The cupcakes here are moist and not too sweet. The flavors taste largely natural and you get the sense they use high quality ingredients. Even though the frosting can be generous, the fact that it's not sickly sweet makes it nice and satisfying. This location is a pretty basic storefront. Service is friendly and fast. Ordered a raspberry cake. Nice decorations and writing. Unfortunately, the icing was waaaay too sweet - and there were three layers of icing inside besides the outside.
