Sandwiches were out of this world, meaty, flavorful, perfect ratios between bread and sandwich ingredients. Last night at Gazebo Gardens, they lost their title. Although their fries were great, the sandwich of all sandwiches did not measure up. The bread tasted stale, and the meat portions were small. Very small. I could barely taste or see the pork or the ham inside. The vast space occupied by meat in a past era was now occupied with thick pickle slices, and the meat occupied a space closer to that taken up by mayo and cheese. What??? What happened here?? Who changed the ratios? The recipe? The bread quality?? The saddest thing was I had dreamed of that sandwich all day long and convinced two other people to order it--claiming that it was the best sandwich ever. Imagine my embarrassment. Meltdown Bistro has melted down; whatever it is now is not the Late Great Meltdown Bistro I once knew and loved. Booohooooo. Not a fan any more.

Goods in Madera. My mom is from the Philippines and often misses home food. I got the sisig fries, and my mom got the IDK plate. They let us sub out the pork lumpia for an extra vegetable lumpia, which was nice. My mom loved the food and said it tasted like hers. I agreed with hers after taking a bite. My sisig fries were loaded and very filling--I only ended up eating half the box. I love the attention to detail--the fried egg, the mayo, the furikake, and the calamansi--everything was perfect together. The food truck itself is covered in stickers and also has fruit juices and Filipino snacks that we enjoyed seeing. I love the decorations/designs on the truck as well. After we finished that, we got some halo-halo, and it was also great. My mom especially liked the homemade ube leche flan. Everything was fantastic, and I will definitely be returning.
