So I have a friend who sworn to me this place had the best egg rolls so I said, say less. I made a pit stop tin Fresno as I was on my way to LA. The location is right next to a gas station so little parking available. They have a food truck outside next to their dine-in inside. I like that they have a limited menu so that's was good. I will say this, I've never had Hmong food so I am not sure how it should taste. I order half dozen egg rolls and three spring rolls, and a large Nab Vam drink. The egg rolls were crispy, although the glass noodles inside caught me off guard. Actually, I didn't like them... I do like their sweet and spicy sauce though. The spring rolls were nice and thick, and I like that they add pork to theirs. Definitely filling. However, their peanut sauce is overwhelming spicy. It kinda masks the nutty flavor of the peanut butter. The drink was ok. I love how colorful it was. I listen to the guy and shake my drink well, but I didn't find it no where sweet. I was very disappointed with my experience. I ordered a large Nab Vam, a Thai tea, and two meatballs on a stick. When I took the Nab Vam out of the drink carrier, the tapioca/cendol was already floating only at the top. For a 32 oz drink, it was about 75% syrup and coconut milk with very little actual cendol & tapioca. When I pointed it out, I was told, "That's how we serve our Nab Vam." I explained that it looked nothing like the photos they advertise, and the only response I got was, "You need to stir it," she the employee busy. Even after stirring, it was mostly syrup and coconut milk. The product didn't match the advertisement, the customer service was disappointing, and it wasn't worth the price. I'd actually give five stars for service, because everyone was very nice and helpful! Food was also served quickly. There's patio setting which is nice when the weather is cool and not sweltering summer heat. The indoor dining is clean and comfortable. A little pricey but was worth it to try, I had been wanting to come here for quite awhile. Now to the food. I tried quite a bit including the spicy meatballs, pork belly with sticky rice, eggs rolls, and khao poon soup. The spicy meatballs had good flavor but tasted like something I could probably make myself, although I really enjoyed the sauce. Egg rolls were crispy and yummy and I liked that they were served with the option of two different sauces. Pork belly wasn't my favorite, I've had better elsewhere but wasn't bad either. I think it had more to do with how it was cooked, I prefer crispy pork belly and this one tasted more barbecued. The khao poon was star of the show! The service was great. We were a little disappointed on the meat we ordered. It was the PorkBelly with steam rice. We thought that pork belly had some meat in it. But it was only fat and bones. Maybe we order the wrong thing. The egg rolls were great. They were crunchy and freshly made. The seasoning inside very on point. The spring rolls were on point too but I wished they added some avocado and more veggies. Sauces were so tasty and combined very well with our food. We stopped at this amazing Chinese food to go shop and the food was amazing. Each bite was bursting with flavor from the onions and sauce of the Mongolian beef to the sweetness of the walnut shrimp sauce. My wife and I ordered a little spread to get a feel for the menu: the spring rolls, steam rolls, Hmong sausage with sticky rice, and the fried chicken. Not one miss in the bunch. Everything was fresh, clean, and bursting with flavor. The sausage had that perfect snap and seasoning, the sticky rice was spot on, and the fried chicken? They're a 5mins drive from my house but I had a napping baby and my toddler and I were hungry and she said she wanted eggrolls. The pork belly was okay, I was expecting the other type of pork belly this came with bones and it wasn't crunchy, the fat was chewy and meat a bit on the tough and dry side it also came with the smallest sauce, definitely not enough to cover the whole order. I was visiting my family in Fresno and was really craving some traditional Hmong food. My cousin told me about this food truck that also turned into a restaurant, Malee's Kitchen. Of course, after her telling me that we went and boy was I not disappointed. We ordered a bunch of stuff which is in my photos here. At first, I was apprehensive because I've had plenty of monk food when I'm in Fresno at different restaurants, but this place beats all. We order the pork belly papaya salad and Hmong sausage with sticky rice. Everything was made as though my mom had cooked it herself. The only complaint I would say is that for the Hmong sausage it was a little pricey for just one sausage and sticky rice, but definitely worth it if you don't wanna cook it yourself. This place has its own lot so there's plenty of parking. Staff was friendly. The sitdown area inside was big and air-conditioned although I think that they should also have plates available if you're dining in. Wanted to support a Hmong owned business but unfortunately was met with rudeness and disrespect. They got our order wrong and when I went up to let them know, the young lady working at the register made me feel like I was trying to get free food out of them and if I wanted it, I can pay for it since it was never added onto our order. Mind you, they also forgot to give us the dishes that we also paid for until I went up to ask! It was filled with glass noodles and little bit of pork nice and airy flavor was delicious. Also goes well with the sweet-and-sour sauce. I had to order extra to take home from my kids. They would love it. Papaya salad, I asked for mild and it was actually a little bit more than mild, but it was tasty. Well seasoned and not too salty. Jelly dessert drink reminded me of Sago dessert but I like this one because it had a unique flavor to it and is not too sweet just perfect. I've tried their papaya salad spicy (hot-toooo spicy and Medium- perfect) pork belly plate (very oily but yummy.. I think they deep fry it), tapioca drink... it's perfect amount of everything.. in sweetness and tapioca. Color is beautiful. They have a food truck in their parking lot and that's where you order your food from. They also have a restaurant building that you can sit down and eat your food. Came all the way from Sacramento to Fresno for a short trip and knew we had to stop by to see what the hype was all about Malee's Kitchen and it was not a disappointment. Pork belly plate and Hmong sausage was grilled to a perfection, not too dry, had good flavors to it and the pepper was good too. Steamed catfish was surprisingly really tasty with a great mixture of the herbs, the cucumber salad was cut in thick chunks for the crunch and the sauce was on point and I saved the best for last, the beef tendon soup was hella good!! When you walk through the gate there's a few tables and chairs outside with shade but there are also more tables and chairs inside the building as well.
