*This review is strictly for the wood-fired pizza they offer on Friday evenings from 5-9.* My husband and I had a hankering for pizza and were walking down Colfax heading to a different pizza joint when the wood-fired oven chugging away outside caught our eye. We immediately veered off our path to investigate. So glad we did!! They had a few different types of pizza to choose from, all of which sounded delicious (I'll be coming back for the kimchi). We opted for the classic pepperoni and vodka with sausage - both were perfect. The bake was amazing, the ingredients high quality and they tasted unbelievable. The prices were also fair - we had plenty of leftovers to take home. I love when spots like this change their game up - i.e. a bakery doing pizza once a week. Finally made it to this one of Denver's most popular bakeries today. To my surprise, there was no line when I hit the store a little before 10am on a Sunday. And nobody was in line so the lady upfront quickly assisted me. Whereas her service was quite/very basic, I appreciated the fact that she was prompt to take my order. On my first visit to this shop I had to restrain my appetite to not get me more than what I could handle. One sweet kind and one savory kind would do just fine. i hence went with the tomato basil (?) square type thing and the eclair. Their appearances simply seemed so exquisitely delicious so without holding up the register (by the time I was at the front there were several people behind me), I quickly placed my order and paid for the items. The lady put the two items in a rectangular shaped box. I walked around the store to look at the sit down area, peek into the kitchen etc. The ambiance is calm with simple design but it suits the overall image of the shop. As of this writing, I haven't tried the baked goods yet. As other people raved about their products in the past, I have very little concern for the two items. Stopped here after running some errands over the weekend because I wanted some pastries for breakfast. I got here around 10:30 and the options were already pretty limited, which was a good sign! I was the only one in line when I walked in, so the person behind the counter was super friendly and walked me through all of the remaining pastries and products. I ended up getting an almond croissant - when I asked what he recommended between the cardamom bun and chocolate croissant, he generously offered to give me both, with one being on the house. we've been customers of lula rose, little lula, and good bread for years. but had never made it to friday night pizza before. i knew it was going to be good, but we were blown. blown away. they have salad, pizza, wine, beer, and cocktails. take away or dine in my partner had a glass of house red, and i had two delicious aperol spritzs. the salad was incredible. it was romaine which was perfectly coated with a creamy italian dressing. there were tiny crispy chunks of crispy prosciutto and pecorino cheese. it was the best salad i tasted in the year 2024 ha ha we ordered a pepperoni pizza with extra sauce and the white funghi. the pepperoni was to die for, and the funghi had big chunks of mushrooms and yellow squash (butternut squash maybe?). there were two of us, and the pizzas were bigger than we thought. we could have easily gotten by with one. But then we had 2-3 more small meals at home from the leftovers. the crusts were perfect. just a little char around the edges. their bread is always authentic and reminds me of italy. probably because they mill their own effing flour! so glad we finally made the pizza night. we ordered one cheese pizza the next friday (takeaway) just to have some in the fridge :-) read more

the first legit bakery I visited when I moved to Denver, and it's been one of my favorites ever since. I don't make it to that side of town often, but when I do, I always try to stop by! (Pro tip: there's usually a line, so get there early!) What I ordered: On this trip, I got an almond croissant, a ham and Gruyère croissant, a chai donut, and their jambon beurre. I've also tried their bagels, assorted donuts, danishes, and their Friday pizzas (yes, pizza!). Best bite: Everything here is delicious, but here is where I first discovered the jambon beurre, and it remains my favorite to this day. Beautiful little bakeshop on Colfax. They are not open M-W and sell out early on the days they are open due to popularity, so I went early on Friday morning. The selection is quite large and unique with some rotating specials. We tried the Kimchi pastry which was unique and tasted spicy as expected. My standard for judgement is the Pain Au Chocolate - very fresh ingredients and prepared well. Two things I may change is that the inside was a bit doughy and not fully cooked. Also, there was an overpowering salty taste and I saw the top appeared to be sprinkled with sea salt. Not necessary and detracts from the taste. Ok I love this place. I think that their pizza is overpriced and not worth it, but their pastries are absolutely the best in Denver. This took over the #2 spot in my bakery list The ham and cheese croissant is the best I've tried in Denver across 2 other bakeries I know I've had other ham and cheeses at. The rest of them must of all blended together The chocolate almond wasn't bad, a lot of chocolate and almond paste filling also I'm not a fan of sliced almonds topping most things. Amazing food! We had the scramble toast and breakfast sandwich for brunch. The scramble toast had super fluffy eggs and had a great addition of crème fraiche, dill, and salmon roe. The salmon roe was a bit small and hard but to be fair it's not a sushi restaurant doin not going to say too much about that. I thought my bread was cut too thick and was a bit too toasted to the point of being burnt. However, the dish as a whole with the well dressed salad on the side was delicious. The breakfast sandwich had wonderful bread and bacon on it, the eggs were not as fluffy. We also tried the kimchi cheddar danish, the croissant, and the passion fruit chocolate cruffin. The danish was worked super well together and was great. I thought the taste of the sweet cheese in the middle was strange at first with the kimchi but as I ate it, the flavors melded better together. The passion fruit cruffin was amazing! The best cruffin I've ever had! There was so much filling and it wasn't too sweet. The passion fruit part had so much flavor and was super tart but delicious. The chocolate croissant was a solid croissant. Great layers, flakiness, and loved the addition of flaky salt on top. Can't complain there. Service was decent but it did take them like 20 minutes to bring our food out and the eating part wasn't particularly crowded. We got there around 9:30 on Sunday and everything was in stock except two pastries that had fruit filling. By the time we left around 10:30-11 everything was almost sold out except the bagels and some loaves of bread. The parking situation is small but the lot wasn't full and we got a spot. I had my ham and cheese croissant at a nearby park, and I couldn't wait to dig into my other items. Flaky fluffy goodness to start any day. I had their "Cara Cara?" for afternoon tea, and it was fantastic. Brioche like texture with frangipane topped with pistachios and an orange slice. As tasty as it looks. I had their crusty country loaf and it was perfect for sandwiches. They also have a selection of doughnuts. Easy parking with the front lot, but easy to miss so look for the sign. I've been searching for a good loaf of sourdough since moving to Denver six months ago. I realize that baking at this elevation requires skill and Good Bread Bake shop hits alll the high notes. A perfect start to our Saturday. The line was at least 10 customers long when we got here around 8:20, but the service was quick. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable on all of the pastries. We ended up going with a Lemon Poppy Cruffin and a Pan au Chocolat, in addition to a Brie and Honey sandwich. All of the ingredients on the sandwich were fresh, with the flavors beautifully complementing each other. The baguette was crispy, but almost a bit overdone. Biting into it was tough on the teeth, and chewing it up the crispy edges were stabbing you in the mouth. The Pan au Chocolat was delicious. The filling in the cruffin on the other hand was a bit too much, it was extremely sweet, and the quantity of it made it hard to enjoy the croissant element of the pastry, making me wish I had ordered a morning bun to enjoy the simplicity. My husband was a regular at Lula Rose before the pandemic, and he enjoyed the pastries and breads that Gabby baked for the coffee shop. So when they opened Good Bread, we were excited to try it out. I was a little skeptical, though. Waiting in long lines for food seemed to have become a pandemic hobby for some. While I knew the folks behind good bread were talented, I assumed the long lines and daily sold out bakery were just part of this new trend of flocking to the newest place. So we waited a bit before going. Eventually, my husband went and waited in a line a couple of times, and he LOVED the donuts and sweet treats he picked up. I saw on IG that by mid-morning the lines subside. Sure, some selections are sold out, but I was willing to risk that. We headed over late one day and still saw plenty of things we wanted to try. The turkey and sauerkraut croissant (with rye flour?) was flaky and savory and delicious. The pizza slices were so good we ate them in the parking lot before we even left. I got in line on a Saturday at around 8:15 and made it into the shop a bit after 9:20. Once I stepped in, I was shocked to see just how many yummy options there were in such a tiny space, between bread, bagels, donuts, pastries, and pizza! I got a chocolate croissant ($4.50), a glazed carrot and ricotta savory danish ($5.25), and snagged the last morning bun ($4.50). The savory danish was a last minute addition at the recommendation of a staff member, and it ended up being my favorite by far! The morning bun was also tasty and had the perfect hint of citrus, but the chocolate croissant was not the best I have had -- it was more cake-like and less flakey than I am accustomed to, but the sprinkle of salt on top was a fun twist! Parking was not an issue. There is a lot right in front of the pop up, and there is plenty of free street parking nearby. The line did move painfully slowly, as each party seemed to take about ~5 mins inside before the next was able to enter. I am always trying to find the best bakery in Denver and Good Bread is pretty high on the list. Like all the others, expect a slow moving line even early on weekday mornings. They still only allow one party inside at a time. Lavender chocolate chip cookie: I wouldn't recommend this, it tasted more like a grocery store cookie than a cookie from a bakery. Pandan coconut cream cruffin: this was my favorite item. It was very good - the filling was light and not too sweet. Almond peach bostock: I enjoyed this one too! I woke up early Saturday and figured it was the day to stand in line to try Good Bread. I got there around 7:45am and was maybe the 10th person there. I like that they only let in one person/group at a time, although the line didn't move until 8:15 and I had pastries in hand by 8:45! Everything looked super fresh and I like how the assortment changes. I think the limited menu works in their favor. I got a few items to try since I'm not sure when I'll want to wait an hour for pastries again. I was most excited to try a morning bun, which fully lived up to the hype, so cinnamony and good. The croissant was flaky and buttery. The carrot cake was practically caramelized and really flavorful. The savory danish wasn't bad and I could have lived without the filled donut, it was so plain in comparison. Birthdays call for all the sweets and treats I could possibly want in one day, and this year I decided trying out Good Bread and their donuts was on the docket. This adorable bake shop right off Madison is small but oh so mighty. They are open on Sat and Sun only from 8am until whenever they sell out and wow.. get your behind in there before the entire state finds out about this place because they will not be able to keep their phenomenal pastries stocked. For now, you are able to preorder a 4-pack of donuts by midnight on a Tues. (whatever the 4 flavors are that week) and pick up on Sat or Sun the following weekend. Last weekend the flavors in their Fall Pack were Chocolate Rye Hazelnut, Glazed Cinnamon Apple Fritter, Fig Cream, and Pumpkin Spice Orange Cream Cheese. Yes, feel free to reread those flavors again because they are as delicious as they are unique. Not your typical sugar on sugar topped with more sugar kinda donut, Good Bread's are sophisticated and creative and just GOOD. So good that the hubby and I ALMOST turned around for more (we didn't), but we sure did preorder our 4-pack for this weekend.
