Nice Japanese bakery , reasonably price with awesome staffs Tried the curry bun , egg bacon bun and ham and egg salad. My favored will be the curry. So delish.

You definitely want to arrive early if you want the best selection of bread. I dropped by at 9 AM on a weekday, but because the shop is so busy, most of the items were already sold out. If you get the chance, I highly recommend choosing the breads from the rack, such as the curry bread and cream donut, over the ones on the trays. The tray options, particularly the ones left in open paper packaging, tasted a bit dry by the time I ate them. The line does take some time to get through, but the employees are efficient and work hard to keep everything moving. The crowd is a lively mix of people grabbing their morning caffeine with a pastry and groups of friends and families chatting. While a few of the tables do offer charging outlets, the space is on the louder side, so it might not be the best environment if you are looking for a quiet study spot.

I've been going here for several years. I lived in Japan many years ago so this place brings back a lot of good memories. I love that the pastries aren't overly sweet. Get here early on the weekend because the pastries go quickly. I like how you can grab various pastries that are already wrapped while waiting in line. They also have a nice cafe area to enjoy coffee with your treats. Street parking only. This place is located directly on Pearl Street. Staff is accommodating and friendly. My only regret is that I waited too long to return today. Kind of glad this place is far from home because if it was much closer I would be a very frequent customer and of course, indulging too much haha Seriously, check this place out if you haven't already. It's worth the stop.

This adorable Japanese bakery/café makes some classic French bakery items (croissants, baguettes), but mostly puts a delicious and delightful Japanese spin on traditional bakery items. The shop is immaculate and elegant with a fresh, modern flair. It's also filled with light from a huge wall of floor to ceiling windows. A U-shaped niche of shelves holds all of the baked items. Each customer takes a tray and selects the goodies that suit their fancy. This system is much easier and much more fun than the usual bakery case. Every piece is carefully packaged to avoid contamination. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They're happy to warm up any item. There's also an extensive menu of coffee and tea drinks plus chai, kombucha, sodas, waters, and even homemade lemonade. Comfortable seating at tables and a counter is available for just over 20 people. There's a case next to the checkout counter with three traditional Japanese sandos, cheesecake, and some packaged drinks. We tried the bacon and egg bun and the custard bun. Both were absolutely delightful. We took home a tuna & egg sando, a peach Danish, and a cream cheese Danish with pistachio. A report on these will follow. There may be one on every corner in Japan, but this wonderful bakery is unique in Denver and you should check it out. Get there early. We arrived at noon on a Wednesday and many items were out of stock.

This place has recently become one of my favorite bakery spots in Denver. Located on S Pearl St it is located in a very nice walkable and central area. I really love the premium quality of all of their bakery products and the affordable prices. There's not too much seating but they do have 2 restrooms that are quite nice and have bidets that can be used if you're a customer. My favorite items are the bacon and egg, curry, and hot dog pastries:) I do prefer the savory verses sweet pastries which is why. Nice staff and friendly vibes all around!

    Savory and Sweet... all delicious.

One of my favorite bakeries... period! . Glenda's daughter has been here visiting from Medford, OR and Hana has a solid affinity towards Asian food. Her Mom was born in Tokyo. Savory and Sweet and the flavors here and the combination of both simplicity and complexity and quality of baking workmanship is first class. One of the true Pearls of Denver located on Pearl Street.

We stopped here to pick up a quick breakfast otw to Garden of the Gods. Their beef curry buns and hojicha latte (better hot btw) were delicious. My friends also liked their matcha cornets. There was already a short line when we got here around 8:30am. Unique bakery on a well known street in a cute little dog friendly neighborhood!

Great service at the registration. Clean & modern with nice bathroom & wifi. I love authentic Japanese style bakery here. Highly recommended bacon&egg bake, beef curry bun & matcha cream bun with house style matcha. If you want Shokupan make sure you reserve it on their website one day ahead of time.

Tiny bakery that packs a punch! We arrived a little before lunchtime and most of the goods were still there but we could see what if we came earlier, we may have had a better selection. The employees were nice. What we swallowed: *FRUIT CROISSANT: Crispy layers, fruit was fresh and delicious. Great creamy filling. This was delicious! *CHOCOLATE CHIP CRUSTY: All the cripsy goodness of a chocolate crusty. This was good too. *MATCHA CUSTARD: Not to grainy as some matcha pastries can be. This was creamy and delicous. Nothing we ordered here was bad. We don't live close but willing to make the drive here for the pastries!

With probably the nicest, most technically advanced bathrooms, you know Tokyo premium slaps from the second you walk in. The matcha twist, custard roll and all the savory options like beef curry and tuna bun are quite satisfying. In the mood for a drink? Their matcha is exceptional! Honestly, I've never gotten anything I didn't at least kind of like. Most items I've throughly enjoyed and I appreciate their variety and the fact the they open early.

Bacon egg tart and curry puff!

Ooops, it's always so tasty that I forgot to get pics! We were missing Japan and remembered this little spot after doing some work at DU- you just can't go wrong with a custard doughnut, a curry bun and an egg sando. Delicious!!!

    Lily S.

It's a nice spot to grab some serious Asian baked goods. Call ahead if you want to reserve a loaf of Milk toast or they will run out. I especially love their fruit sandwiches. Yes the concept may be weird and not what you would order if you're looking for protein. But just think of it as the Asian version of the (British) cucumber sandwiches! Especially refreshing bun the summer and might be the second thing to run out the fastest. Curry beef puff is their specialty that may look a bit hidden, so make sure to ask for them. Other pastries all look and taste good. You almost can't go wrong. Drinks are plentiful and plenty good too! The only complaint is the lack of parking. Consider yourself warned.

    Trinny T.

The line moved slowly. Parking was scarce. Most breads were sold out by 11am. There were diverse options of bread though. The price was cheap too for the quality of bread. I recommend.

Limited selection compared to what you'd get in Japan, but what they do have, is legit! Wish I lived near here, I'd be back all the time.

Ask the Community - Tokyo Premium Bakery

What delivery service do they use?

Is this a good working space?

It is for me, there's wi-fi and sitting area. However, it is a smaller space, so if you get easily distracted, it may not work for you?

Is there gluten free options available?

I didn't see anything with gluten free

    Any vegan pastries?

Nearly all pastries have some type of animal product (be it flesh, dairy, or eggs). As far as I know the standard baguette does not but I think it's the only one...

Do they have gluten free stuff?

Not for the pastries, so you would be limited to their tea menu.

    Is there wifi?

Yes there is, and I tested the speed which came in at 70mbps.

Since the pandemic, I discovered that things have changed with the set up and that the orders are placed outside at the side window - actually, I love this idea! While it worked just fine inside, albeit always a bit of a tight squeeze because they're just so darn popular!, this option was really convenient and works wonderfully. The line moves quickly, there are several seating areas outside (I think there was indoor available for after you picked up your order but, I did not confirm - it was such a beautiful day to be outside anyway! The menu is pretty much the basics and several syrup options - I don't need fancy, just good coffee. They're also super doggo friendly ~ two dogs in front of me with their owners together and one of those pups was clearly a regular based on how quickly he jumped up to the window to get his biscuit... and another.... and another... the final jump, I was sure he was going to get himself up and into the window lol! Pricing is reasonable for the inflation we are all feeling at this time, service is very friendly and fast, and my Chai Latte was perfect. I decided to add a touch of caramel that really took it up a notch - asked for a smidge and got a smidge! If you're in the area, check it out ~ it has a very cozy, neighborhood feel and there were clearly many regulars there but, they treat everyone like a neighbor - what more could you ask for?

You have to order outside at the window, even if you're planning on staying a while. This was a bummer for a few reasons. First, I could not see any of the food items and second, there were only to-go cups, a massive pet peeve of mine. Coffee was pricey for tasting mediocre. I had a hazelnut latte and the amount of cinnamon heaped on top was overwhelming and I couldn't really taste anything else. They have a ramp which was good so I could navigate my stroller inside. However, no changing table so I had to change my infant on a blanket on the floor (never a fun experience). There was also an unpleasant smell upon entering the shop. Small tables were scattered about and some had outlets for working. They had a little free library inside which I always love to see. Overall though, I was really disappointed and can't say I'd have a strong urge to return.
