He did come back with a rash and maybe that was the food they used because the food we brought them they never gave back to us and I didn't realize until we'd already left so not sure what happened. I had taken my dog here for years, both for grooming and boarding. Initially I had no issues. However, the last time I picked them up one smelled heavily of urine, and the other was neglected. When I arrived he had puss in his eye and it was bloodshot. They had been there for a week and the staff's question to me was "it wasn't like that when you dropped him off?" They clearly had not been paying attention to him. Apparently he had a medical event while I was gone. This could've been treated if they were checking on him daily as they are supposed to, instead my dog ended up LOSING HIS EYE. They also lost a bag of toys and treats that I taken for my dogs. It took them a week to locate it and return it to me. They refused to give a refund for the stay. I will never bring my babies back there, and recommend other pet owners avoid! read more

Never made it in the front door. I was looking for a day care in Broad Ripple as it's on my way to work. The website said to fill out their online form if you want to be set up in their online system for booking. I put in the request, then the person called me back but I couldn't answer. When I called back I said that I wanted to try out day care and is there a behavior assessment, do I need to fill out any forms, etc? The employee asked what kind of dog I have. I said she is a lab mix (mixed with what, I don't know). She said "Oh yeah, since she's a lab mix you can just bring her in!" I asked if I needed a reservation, or to fill out any paperwork, or vaccine records and she assured me that no, I could drop her off any time. While I love the idea that I could drop my dog off any time, I don't love the idea of my dog being at a facility where there are apparently no requirements unless you have a certain breed of dog (which we all know is only one step in determining temperament). I don't want my dog running around with dogs with no vaccines on record that haven't been fully assessed. I will stick to our regular day cares for now. read more

I went to Good Dog for self serve dog bathing. All of the staff were extremely courteous and friendly, and they even helped me get my dog into the tub. The price for this is only $15. The water was warm, there is complementary shampoo and conditioner, nice big towels, brushes, combs, hair dryer, and a fan. Everything was was nice and clean too! I came at a time when many people were dropping their dogs off for the day. After finishing my dog's bath I went to pay and they said no charge because it was chaotic when I got there. The groomer gave my senior, handicapped dog a messy, uneven trim. I told the groomer I wasn't pleased with the messy job. The groomer said that she couldn't do a neater, more professional groom because my dog can't stand up. I offed to hold my dog up so she could reclip my dog more evenly. The groomer said she would get another groomer to help her trim my small dog. Then she said the other groomers were busy. She took my dog back to reclip her, but my dog didn't look much better after the second groom. I took pictures of my little dog after the second trim to post to social media. I asked the staff for a more experienced groomer, the staff told me that all of the grooming employees have the same experience. My dogs groomer spoke to me in an angry and defensive way. Please read and listen to similar reviews on this business! If there was a negative star, this would be the time. We've taken our dogs here for over 5 years. Spent over $8,400 in that period of time (yes, it's true). We can't believe the incompetence, poor/nasty customer service and basic neglect that happens at Good Dog. Simple instructions to keep our dogs together can't even be followed. This isn't the first time - we gave them another chance. We drop them off for daycare today, have a face to face conversation, we call an hour later to confirm and repeat the instructions. If our Border Collie has a hard time and is scared in daycare, he and his brother and sister should go back to a room together. We pick them up only 3 hrs later and the dogs are separated. It caused serious anxiety for our rescue Border Collie that needs to stay with his brother and sister. If they can't get this right, how could you trust them with anything else?! Also, 3 dogs, 3 hours and it was $63. We call to address it on the phone, they refuse a refund after we sensed they didn't care and weren't apologetic. Instead, he gets very nasty and says our sweet dogs aren't allowed back (because he couldn't handle the conversation on the phone)! Wouldn't it have been easier to just say something like, "we're sorry, we should've been watching more closely - don't worry about the fee, give us another chance and we'll take care of it - is Duke ok?". No. It's fighting on the phone and for 5.5 years of patronage, our dogs aren't welcome back. UNREAL. Unbelievable waste of money and more important, they don't give a d**n about the needs of your precious animals.. Prove it to me otherwise. Keep the $63 dollars. Your dog is not in good care at this facility. 2 days into my 10 day trip, I had to pull my pup out of their care. Please read through all the other reviews too. It's obvious this place should not be in business. 1) They leave the dogs on their own from 7pm to 7am. 12 hours without bathroom breaks is animal abuse in my eyes. 2) They list bedding on their website. There is zero bedding in the dog's space. They toss cheap blankets on the floor. 3) They do not have fresh water down for the dogs 24 hrs a day. My pup was dehydrated upon pick up. It was the same last time I picked her up but thought maybe she was just running around. Yes, I've had her here before unfortunately. 4) I received a call that my pup did not want to participate in daycare. She goes to daycare every other day without issue someplace else. After all of this, I had a friend go by to check out the situation and take the dog out for a walk. They promptly handed her a receipt for the full 10 day stay without explanation. They also included daycare in the receipt which is odd, since she didn't attend. As you can imagine with 8 days left of travel, it makes for a very stressful situation. Anyways, glad my dog made it out in one piece. Hopeful the Good Dog makes it right and gets their act together. UPDATE - 10/17 - I'm back from my trip and luckily a friend pick up my dog after only two days at Good Dog. If your dog has any bit of separation anxiety or barks at all the daycare attendant (Mel) will say they need medicine and that it's not a good fit for them to come. The manager Vivian is really sweet and understanding unfortunately she works for a horrible company. I called to check to see if that attendant was working for daycare services the next day and they told me they couldn't give that information when I know previously that attendant was very rude. First they hung up on me . Then Michelle who claims she's over Vivian was very rude and attempted to rush me off the phone because I said I didn't want my dog to be mistreated. I applied for a position here 3 months ago, I have spent a few months waiting for a response and finally had enough. I decided to contact them and for the last 3 days I have been trying to get in contact with a manager at this business and for 3 days the employees running the phones have been no help at all. For 2 days now I have been calling and they told me that the manager was not available but they promised that the manager would definitely be in the office today (5/11/23). I called back this morning and they said that the manager was now sick and would be out for a few days. I felt during these calls that these ladies running the phones were either preoccupied or distracted. As a customer and as a potential employee I didn't feel like a priority to them. absolutely terrible customer service seems to be normal here. A very clean and impressive facility. The staff was very friendly and welcoming when we dropped her off. I did the standard suite which is reasonably priced at $26 per day. You can also add day care or 1on1 time as extras. When we picked her up 5 days later she was very clean and they put a cute pink bandana on her. A few suggestions to make this a higher rating: -Offer a tour of the facility so I can see where my dog will be sleeping and staying. -Give me a report card on how my dog did. It would be good to know if she was relaxed, was playful during daycare time, and if she ate all her food. -Acknowledge me if I'm a repeat customer, learn my dog's name, thank me for my business. read more

I was recommended to use good dog by a friend. The facility is at a great, convenient location, and it looks beautiful. The front desk staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I first took my dog for daycare, and everything went perfectly. At the next visit, I took my dog in for boarding, and they seemed very organized and prepared for his visit. When I picked him up, he seemed a bit more agitated than when I usually pick him up from boarding places. Also, he was covered in urine which is highly unusual so I was disappointed to see that. However, as soon as the staff noticed it, they gave him a quick, free bath, which I appreciated. I'll use them again, but there's some room for improvement. For a business that's supposed to care about animals its very disrespectful for you to give a pet owner their dog in the condition you did... both her sweater and body smelled like days old urine and she was wet which just added insult to injury. Called to see if they did my breed of dog in grooming. Was told absolutely they don't get many but they would love to do her and you exactly what she needed but if I had any special instructions I could talk to the groomer when I came. I have a Puli that is fully corded and I explain that to them. They called to confirm the day before and reminded me to bring her vaccination records... I rearranged my whole morning around this to be there at 8-8:30... I was checking in and saw that her bordetella wasn't up to date so I put her in the car and was running to the vet to get this done and back to them ...after seeing the dog with their own eyes they called as I was rushing back... I've taken my pit bull , Bella to Good Dog several times. The first time was for play care and I was called and told that my dog could not handle it and needed to be picked up . I did not know what to expect as my dog was a rescue and I was new to the breed. The manager explained to me that Bella showed signs of " too much excitement" and while she had not actually shown any aggression they did not want to take any chances. They did assure me she was welcome to board there however . So I took her in for a 2 night stay and everything seemed fine however she only stayed in her kennel . The next time I took her in I reminded the staff Bella could not interact due to anxiety but an employee was unaware and walked too close to another dog and a scuffle occurred . I was informed when I picked up my dog . The third time I left her for a long stay , added a bath & nail trim . Nothing was indicated to me about any problems but upon return home my dog slept for over 24 hours so I knew she had stressed and her anxiety must have been very high. This week I took her in for a 3 day weekend I had to attend a dear friends wedding in Florida. As I was just getting settled at the ceremony I saw that Good Dog was calling so when I answered I was informed that my dog was not wanting to go on her bathroom walks and trying to nip at the employees and I must pick her up immediately. I informed the caller I was at a out of town wedding that was just about to start. The caller instead of politely saying she 'd call at a better time started drilling me insisting that I send someone for my dog! If you are in the business of working with dogs you need to be doing a better job of it ! I did notice the employees were mostly high school , College age so maybe they need to get more confident animal handlers . I will not be going back as I feel they shamed me at the counter in front of other guests when they should have discussed things privately . I also have no confidence in their abilities to properly care for all breeds . If you have a small loveable Pooch maybe you will be ok. Meh, we will not be using again. Weird and in my opinion dogs must wear a collar rule perfect for getting the dog hung up in a typical run. Dogs were an absolute mess upon our return. Given one of our dogs got mats, she was clearly wet most of the time away. Did our regularly groomed show dog arrive with mats? No. The self bath area was nice and well equipped I know because we spend a lot of time in there. I called during the trip to check on them and got a glowing report on the phone only to be followed shortly by an email stating the dogs were a mess resulting from them being messy in their runs! KInd of contradicting messaging. I can say we tried it given it's convenient location but we will not be returning here given the communication, strange collar obligation (note one of our dogs had no collar on even though I had to pay for it) and the apparent lack of care to keeping the runs clean and dry. Worst place ever! Left our dog there for 6 days. They said he kept knocking over his food and water so he didn't eat or drink much. What does that mean? Wasn't that part of why we left him there to get feed and have clean water at all times. He never does that at home so why did he do it there? Paid a deposit, but still got charged the full amount. Didn't get an itemized receipts upon pick up so I called to inquire. Got out on hold by the owner for 10 minutes. When she came back to the phone she asked me again what I wanted. Umm the same thing I said before you put me on hold. Apparently the credit card machine broke so they never took the deposit, but they took my card information. So what Happened to the card information as it should have been entered into a computer or card machine immediately so then what happened to the information is it just sitting somewhere? When I asked why they didn't call to explain this she said it was too much to do to call that many people. No explanation for where all of the card information is stored or how it was disposed of. She again said what do you want. Umm pretty sure that was clear at this point. I told her we would not be bringing our dog back there. She hung up. Super professional. Still don't have an itemized receipt or reassurance of what they do with card information. Beware of how they treat humans and our furry friends! read more

For the second time now, our dog has gotten an ear infection after getting a bath at Good Dog. We also noticed this time that only three of his four paws had their nails clipped. This is a challenging review to write. My husband and I have been taking our dogs to Good Dog for years now. We've been very loyal patrons and recommended their services to our friends. Everything has changed. I have to qualify all of this by saying, we signed the liability waiver happily. I completely understand that dogs are dogs and not people and scuffles happen. In fact, they've happened before and we've shrugged them off, even with minor injuries. Our dogs are not free from "bad dog" behavior by any stretch of the imagination. However, the way this incident happened was really disturbing to us and we're leaving the business because of it. Here's what we were told: our dog was a part of a small pack of dogs that was picking on a new younger dog. I completely believe this. Our older dog has a "mother hen" nature and can be bratty about it. She isn't innocent. The younger dog had enough and lashed out. Our older dog was bitten on her neck and ear. Again, par for the course, nothing out of the ordinary. I'm not upset at the dog that bit my dog or their owner. I'm upset at Good Dog for how they handled it. When I came to pick up my dogs, the owner (or possibly manager, I'm not sure) came out and talked to me about the situation. [Side note: she told me everything right in the middle of the insanely busy lobby with tons of people and other dogs around, which I felt was really disrespectful to our situation]. She explained she reviewed the videotape and said that there was only one staff in the room at the time and he or she was cleaning up vomit when it happened. She also explained that they were extremely busy, with 83 dogs. She then proceeded to tell me not to worry about going to the vet because they don't do much for puncture wounds. Two days later, we woke up to what looked like a murder scene with blood all over our bedroom and our dog. The wound had opened up and was bleeding profusely. We rushed her to the vet where they had to perform surgery and $1,000 later, we're home with a very sick dog who has stitches and a drain in her neck. Her neck is completely covered in bruises and she is miserable. Again, I have to reiterate that I truly understand scuffles happen and this kind of thing has to be expected to a certain extent. My anger has to do with the way it was dealt with and the fact that being busy was an excuse for poor care. My anger also has to do with the fact that a non-medical professional gave me medical advice. Now I did take that advice, and that was my choice, but she shouldn't have given it in the first place. My husband and I are devastated about this whole situation. Our dog isn't doing well and I think had it been handled differently, we wouldn't be in this situation. To anyone looking for a doggy daycare, look for establishments that have small play groups and separate rooms for dogs. Do not take your pet to Good Dog Hotel and Spa for boarding or day care. My dog was not provided water or adequately monitored and then needed to go to the vet because she had an infection, a fever, and could not walk. The total bill for the vet was $371. My dog should have had doggy day care on both days of her stay and is promised to be let out 4 times a day. With these services my dog's injury should have been noticed by a staff member. I tried to call to resolve this issue with a manager and the only time I got ahold of her she asked permission to call my vet and now will not return my phone calls. When I had talked to the manager about my concerns, she lied multiple times about my conversations with staff when dropping my dog off or picking her up to take blame away from where blame is due- the lack of monitoring that occurs while your pet is in their care. This is what happened: when my dog was handed back to us we were told she had been snoozing in her suite and we sat down in the lobby to wait for the self-service bath. When we got her, she immediately drank the entire container of water in the lobby and my fiancé made mention of when she had water last. I noticed her front paws were red and asked the woman working behind the counter and she said she didn't know what happened and there were no notes in her chart about it. She went and asked the person working in the suite area and they also hadn't noticed but said sometimes dogs chew their paws when bored or anxious. Again, with the day care and walks she was promised someone should have noticed my dog was injured. After getting home she drank another entire bowl of water and ate more than two cups of food immediately like she was starving and then laid down. When it was time for her to go out before bed my dog would not get up. I stood her up and she screamed in pain and laid back down. My fiancé asked what had happened and we tried to get her up a second time and again she howled but stood up shaking. Then I noticed she wasn't putting any pressure on one of her front paws and was trying really hard to not put any on her other front paw. The next morning, she still would not stand up and was very lethargic. We could coax her into taking a few steps, but she would stop to lick her paws and lay back down immediately. I went to the store and got her some paw soother to see if that helped her feel any better and left a message at Good Dog to call me back. At this point I unpacked her bag from Good Dog and saw that 3/4 of the chews I had provided them to alleviate her boredom were still in her bag. The soother seemed to help her feel a little better but the next morning she was not standing up again so I called her vet and they said she could come in as a drop off. I also called Good Dog who didn't have a manager on duty. Before speaking to the manager my vet got back to me and said Kira had an infection in her paws, a fever and was abnormally lethargic. The manager had no explanation for why my dog was so thirsty or why I still had her chews. Then she said she had been in the lobby at our pick-up and she knew THEY had told us about her paws. As I stated earlier, they had NO idea there was something wrong with her. This led me to asking if she had gotten play time and her four potty breaks why no one would have noticed. The manager responded she had just come from play time when I picked her up, and again this was a lie that I refuted because I had been told she was snoozing in her suite when I got there. Then this woman tried to tell me I had informed them at her drop off that this was a problem my dog normally had which is absolutely not true. My dog has never done this before, and she asked to call my vet to confirm this. I gave her permission and she never called. I've called Good Dog two more times and the manager will not respond- they know they are in the wrong and do not want to take responsibility. If you want your pet to be monitored and cared for do not take them to Good Dog. read more

We've taken our dog here to be boarded and attend day care three times. The first time he came down with a respiratory infection shortly after from an unknown bacteria/virus, which I accounted for as a fluke. A round of antibiotics and he was much better. The second time I picked him up and they had no report on whether it had went well or not for me. This third time though assured me he would not be going there again. I picked him up after a one night stay and he still had food remaining in his bag, did they not feed him or feed him something else?? He came home extremely lethargic which I assumed was from playing at daycare. The next day he went to daycare at Bark Tutor (who we LOVE) only to get a call that he had diarrhea. After another vet visit we found out he had contracted another bacterial illness which needs to be treated with antibiotics. Needless to say I support all of the reviews here claiming that the sanitary conditions must not be up to par as this is the only place we've had this issue with. read more

Recently my dog stayed overnight at GoodDog and upon bringing him home I realized that the container of food I sent him with was full. He is a on a restricted diet and I measured his food before packing it; I sent 1/2 cup of food with him which is the amount I measured when he got home. I called to inquire and the weekend staff was not able to provide an explanation but told me that there were security tapes that could be reviewed with management to further investigate. I was told I would be called back within the hour. I did not receive a call and when I tried again to call, there was no answer. I left a voicemail that was not returned. I went to the facility in person and explained the situation and was then told that there was in fact no manager on duty but that a manager would call me the next day once tapes were reviewed. The manager who called me the next day informed me that there were no security tapes at the facility and made no apology for her staff telling me otherwise. Instead, she suggested that I "misinterpreted" the staff member who told me that security tapes would be reviewed. She backed her staff member and told me that my dog was fed his own food, despite me telling her that he came home with the amount he was sent with. I explained his diet restrictions and said that I was certain of the amount he was sent with, especially given that it was only 1/2 cup of food. This made no difference to her and she suggested that I was mistaken in my counting. I expressed that I was very disappointed in the customer service but more disappointed that my dog was likely not fed at all during his stay that we paid for. I asked if I would be refunded and she said "not if you blast me on the internet." At the end of the day, my dog is alive and I am thankful he was only there one night. I understand that processes fail and that mistakes happen. What I cannot look past is terrible customer service and, worse, poor integrity. The staff of GoodDog had an opportunity to investigate and rectify this situation, but instead became defensive, lied about security tapes and accused a paying customer of being wrong in measuring dog food. As a member of this community I feel a responsibility to share the experience I had with this business. read more

The last couple of times we've picked our dog up from Good Dog, she was to have been bathed prior to pick-up. On both instances, our dog came out unbathed. After inquiring, we were told that our dog wasn't comfortable during the bathing process. I wish they had communicated this upon pick-up, rather than after the fact. read more

You can watch your dogs in the play area through a big window, and I can tell that my two are happy to be there. They (and I also) like the staff, and the staff clearly likes my dogs. One thing that is nice is that my older dog can play for a half day and then rest for the rest of the time while my energetic younger one can go for a full day, and they they can still sleep in the same kennel together. The kennels are a good size and aren't just little cages. The people here have always been good about giving my one dog her medicine, too. What I really love is that they apply personal judgment to situations and are flexible when the need arises. I have a medium sized dog (48 lbs) and a little dog (13 lbs), so they should go into separate play areas-- one for big dogs and one for little dogs. However, my big dog would go sit by the fence by the little dog enclosure and refuse to move, because she missed her "sister." The staff saw this, and since my big dog is extremely docile, they let her go in with the little dogs so that she would stop being so anxious. I really appreciated that they cared enough about my dog's emotional state that they put in the extra effort to see if going in with the little dogs would be a good situation or not. Leaving your fur baby for a weekend can be nothing short of terrifying. Luckily Good Dog took care of my pupp and I knew he was in good hands while I was out of town for the weekend. When your dog goes for a stay, they allow you to bring your own food, a blanket, their bed, and two toys. I felt better knowing my baby had the comforts of home even while I was away. You may choose to add on services to your visit. I had my dog groomed while he was there. I also ordered room service (peanut butter filled Kong) at bed time and also arranged for some one on one play time. All of these little additions can add up but just made me feel a little less guilty about leaving the little guy for the weekend. (Whatever works, right?) The only thing I would have really appreciated was a report about how he did when I picked him up. I really have no idea if he ate his food, how many walks he took, and what his demeanor was like during the stay. I think this would really help those first time dog mommas. read more
