I'm really disappointed with our first experience at Good Boy Rocky. We brought our mini labradoodle in specifically asking for a teddy bear style cut, but what we got back was completely different from what we requested. Instead of a properly shaped cut, our dog was essentially shaved down, with no attention to the style we had agreed on. On top of that, the grooming was very uneven across his body, and parts of his coat were noticeably missed or cut at different lengths. We also noticed that part of his eyebrow area had been shaved down to the skin, which was upsetting and not something we expected from a professional grooming service. Most concerning, our dog came home with a cut on his paw pad. This made us question the level of care and attention given during the grooming session. Overall, this was a very stressful and disappointing experience, and we won't be returning or recommending this service to others. read more

We were looking for a good place to bring our 7 month old Pomeranian, Koa for grooming. He'd never been professionally groomed before and we wanted his first experience to be as good as it could be, and not traumatic. We had been to Brambleton and saw this store last year. It had stuck in my mind, so I checked their Google reviews and they were all very positive. We made an appointment and took Koa in last Saturday. From the time we walked in the door, we felt good about our choice, were greeted pleasantly and we had a nice consultation with the groomer and the owner about the cut we were looking for. They were very kind and understanding and most of all, you could just tell they love dogs and what they do! Koa was taken back to start his appointment, we watched for a little while, and I attribute it to the positive energy of his groomer, he was upset, shaking or anything! We felt comfortable enough to leave and go take a walk. They called to tell us Koa was ready and upon seeing him, we were thrilled! His cut was perfect, he smelled wonderful and most importantly...he was happy and not scared in the least! As a new dog owner, I recommend that you bring in pictures of what you want and don't want, when it comes to grooming cuts. I did my research, showed them pictures and everything was spot-on and better than we'd hoped! We've already made our next appointment and plan to continue bringing Koa here for his grooming needs moving forward. They also have a great selection of dog and kitty foods, treats, toys and apparel. Thanks very much to Cindy and to Koa's groomer (sorry I forgot her name)! She always takes the time to explain the benefits of products she thinks would benefit our dog Cooper as well as treats our big guy like one of her own. Have been to the store twice since recently moving into the area and needing to find a new pet store that carried our dog's food. Good Dog Rocky has a decent selection, however seems disorganized. The first thing we noticed it how the dryers from the grooming area make it impossible to hear anything or anyone in the store. This is the first time I've noticed this in a dog store since normally the grooming area is built to buffer the sound. When we went to check out, the staff was extremely slow (and impossible to hear over the dryer). Most recently we went to get our dog's nails trimmed, stock up on food, and buy Christmas presents for family's pets. We called in advance and we're told to just come on it and that we couldn't schedule an appointment for a nail trim. Totally fine, as most stores don't take appointments for nail trims. We arrived, waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged standing in front of the associates at the counter, and then were told to come back another day. Excuse me? No, "Oh, can you give us about 30 minutes to finish up another groom?". Completely told to just leave versus being able to wait. The last thing I would expect from a small business. Missed out on a large purchase and securing a repeat customer. We'll be buying our food and supplies online from another store now instead of dealing with this, despite Good Dog Rocky being so much more convenient. read more

Hey neighbors, I just wanted to put in a quick note letting you know I really enjoyed my experience here at this store.I usually purchase my fur babies food at a different store further out in the Broadlands area forgetting this store is closer to my home. Today however, I finally decided to pop in hoping they carried my fur babies brand of food and they did! Unfortunately they only had med/large size bags which was way too much for my Yorkies. Cindy the owner, graciously offered to get a bag from another store and have it for me next day. Unfortunately for me I didn't have any food left to wait. Cindy did have the small sample bags that were no longer for sale. I still offered to buy them to tie me over for the next day but she graciously offered them to me if I was willing to take them for free which she didn't have to do! This above and beyond customer service I received today is the reason why I am now a loyal customer! read more

Happy with the way my dogs look after a groom but a little upset because the past 2 times we've dropped them off they never call to say they are ready to be picked up, so they are just waiting around in the cages I assume. Also, I'm a little in shock since the last time we came for grooming the groomer passed our dog over to us without a mask on (just covered her mouth with her arm) and the other employee behind the counter wasn't wearing a mask but just holding her sweatshirt over her mouth. There should be strict policies enforced about masking wearing, I probably will not bring my dogs back during this time because of that. read more

Worst dog groomer I've ever gone to. I took a chance based on other reviews which may actually be fake now that I realize it. This groomer was told to do a teddy bear cut and instead with no communication in process, shaved my dog down completely. And still had the nerve to charge $150. Stay away from this place! read more

I hate to do this because I am in the service industry but the staff here is completely incompetent. I took my 30lb 7 month old puppy here to get his nails trimmed and was about to spend $50+ on treats/bones. Over the phone, they said no appointments necessary for nail trim. So, when we got there today every single worker there seemed extremely young. The front desk took my puppy back and I heard the groomer say, "you can just do it, take my tools." My puppy has never had this done so he was scared and crying, I could see and hear everything through the glass. They did not know how to control him and refused to do his nails because he was aggressive. He's not aggressive, he is super socialized and happy, but he was scared, which untrained/unlicensed and inexperienced teenagers clearly do not know how to handle. When he came out the harness was not put back on correctly and was choking him. I will never bring my business back and would not recommend ever bringing your dog here for a service. read more

This store was recommended by the manufacturer of my dog's food, as she has very particular needs (frozen raw venison) due to food allergies, and I have found Cindy, the owner, to be so wonderful and reliable in always ordering her food and providing prices akin to what the online companies provide. Best dog groomers I have found in the area. Cindy the owner, is very sweet, knowledgeable and truly cares about your animal. All her groomers treat your dog like their own and give them lots of love and care. They also have a lot of patience and listen to your hairstyle requests.
