We sent our dog- Arya for a bath, nail trim and de shedding service today 05/23. They called and reminded us about the appointment which I thought was great. They called us once the service was completed. This is where all the positive things about this service ends. Arya came home still wet. I wonder if they even did any deshedding, her fur was all over the place. Nails were cut and not properly trimmed, leaving the rough edges. This place is amazing and I'm really surprised to see some of the pathetic reviews so far. Let me start with my story and my 120lb Siberian Husky/Alaskan Malamute...Allie. We came here a year ago because of a hurricane evacuation. We're stationed down near Miami now, but have always called DC home, so when it was time to evacuate, there was no question on where we would head. I brought our dog Allie with us (wife took a flight out of Dulles to go see family), so I was looking for a place to put her for a day or two and get all her sillies out with some other dogs. This place was super accommodating to our situation, got her evaluated within a few minutes of the first day, and then took her for the day and absolutely wore her out! She had so much fun that when we came back the next day, she immediately started getting excited in the car when we drove into the location. Phenomenal staff who actually love dogs (not just the typical business owners that see a dollar sign over your pup) and will have fun with them all day long! For the reviews about scratches and sniffling...give me a break. This is a doggy day care...not the ER. It isn't meant to be perfectly sanitized, as I'm quite sure none of our dogs Purell their hands upon entry. If they have a scratch or two, it's because they were chasing dog butts all day and had a blast. If there are ever any issues, the staff will call right away and will section your dog off so they don't get hurt. If your dog got a scratch, they were probably having the time of their life. Calm down. If you want a solid dog boarding/daycare spot outside of DC filled with knowledgeable staff who care and will wear the pooch out for a day, this is definitely the spot to go to! The prices are more than reasonable and since it's indoors, it doesn't matter what weather will hit the area. Rain or shine, your pup will have a dog-gone good time with some of DC's finest 4-legged friends. I highly recommend them and we will most certainly be coming back over the holidays!! read more

I would give half a star if I could.. I was visiting family in the area last weekend & wanted to keep my puppy in a daycare facility for a day. I found ADDO on Yelp & selected them for the sole reason that they are a cage-free daycare facility. My puppy has been at daycare before at various locations & he loves being there.. Little did I know that not only would my puppy get injured at this facility, but also that the staff would never even mention to me about it! I noticed a big red scratch near his private parts only after I got him home! Also when I picked him up, they just handed him to me on leash and said goodbyes.. what about letting me know how he did there? Whether he ate, played, pooped properly? Plus, it was wet under his eyes, so I asked if he cried.. But they just responded vaguely with "no, he did very well".. That's all! I am truly disappointed with ADDO & would never recommend this place for anything to anyone! read more

I am disappointed. I brought my 5 year old lab here for doggy daycare. At first, the girls at the front were very nice. However, being the first time I am meeting them, I believe it is very unprofessional to complain about another customer (telling me stories of what that customer did) AND bashing another doggy business. This should have been my red flag. They required $15 for a evaluation. Ok, no big deal. I waited for about 20-30ish minutes (maybe even longer. I'm not sure) and one of the girls comes out and tells me my dog is a major humper and stalking the girl dogs.... my dog has NEVER humped another dog, so I was shocked. I said maybe it was because he was in a new place and excited? They kept asking if I saw it happen on the screen... I watched the whole time, never saw him hump another dog, but I DID see another dog hump him. They then placed him in time out, but they let the other dog who humped him stay out. At that point, I was tired of hearing "he's not playing, he's just stalking and humping" since when do dogs not sniff other dogs butts? Especially when they are just meeting? This is what she was calling "stalking" him sniffing another dogs butt. I ended up telling them forget it, and took him back to our usual place. Lost $15 bucks, but oh well. read more

My puppy is loving doggy day care here! The staff really love dogs and care for them well. Nicole gave us a tour and answered all of our questions. We did not feel rushed and were able to observe the dogs before leaving our dog there and again the next day while our dog was there. I like that the dogs are separated into three rooms. There don't seem to be too many dogs as I have observed at another dog day care. The staff is well trained in dog behavior and works preventatively to address any potential play that is too rough. We appreciate his as our puppy is only four months old. They immediately clean up after the dogs and give them lots of attention. Our puppy needed reassurance from humans initially and he got that right away at ADDO. We will be brining our pup here for weekly socialization and to get some energy out. read more

The best cage-free dog sitting and boarding in the area, they really get to know your dog and what their needs are! There are three sections for the dogs- small, medium, and large. Our frenchie is very small (runt of the litter) but very spunky so they tried her out in the medium dog section on a day that it wasn't very busy and that's where she has stayed because she is so much more energetic than the small dogs. They all know our names and her name and she absolutely can't contain herself when we make the turn into the plaza because she loves to be at doggie daycare. The longest we have voarded her is about 4 days and she came back so sleepy (she was getting a lot of playtime!) People have posted negative reviews about ADDO not accepting their dogs but they have common sense rules about that: if your dog doesn't like other dogs, if they are aggressive, if they are scared of other dogs, obviously ADDO cannot accommodate those dogs in a cage-free doggie daycare center. read more

We have been bringing out Boston terrier to dogs day out for about 6 months now. She absolutely loves it there! She gets to play and socialize, she literally shakes with excitement as we pull up. ADDO in Ashburn is the best!! We had never boarded our dog before and were a little apprehensive. Our dog, Rufus, had so much fun that he didn't want to leave when we picked him up! The dogs play with other dogs their size during the day and sleep in crates in the open play area at night. NO kennels! There is always a person with the dogs, accept at night when they are safely sleeping in their crates. There is also An attendant who is at the facility 24 hours so your dog is never alone. We loved this facility and our dog moped around for a couple days after we picked him up! Also, the place smells clean and our dog was clean when we picked him up. The people are friendly, they love dogs and the dogs love them. The one thing I wish was different was the cut-off time for day care drop-off at Noon is a bit random. Knowing I have to get the dogs at 6p, why can't I drop them off at 3p for a 3-hour day care session? Finally, I think they excel in boarding and day care, but I'm not a huge fan of their grooming services, I would look elsewhere for that and use them for the Day Care that they are! read more

I'm a second time reviewer because as of recently I have a dog who has been to this facility MULTIPLE times but is now showing anxiety. When ADDO recently called me to say she snapped at another dog I was NOT in shock, denial or blaming the facility... it is what it is. Dogs get older, some don't like certain environments, some don't even like particular people. The front desk was very friendly informing me of this instance and I promptly came to pick her up. I DID want to review their video (which I did and it looked like a minor infraction to me) but my overriding thought is that these people need to make a living and have a successful business so why would they bend to my particular dog not being as dog-friendly as she should be... for the safety of the other dogs? Unfortunately I have TWO dogs that go there regularly and I DEPEND on this service and the mental stimulation they provide to my pups to have a happy home life (otherwise they seek out trouble from boredom) so I had to find a compromise with the facility in making that work... which we did! We don't attend nearly as much as we used to (thanks to my anxious pup) but we came up with a solution (that's been working so far). The front desk has been great trying to accommodate my needs while keeping ALL their dogs safe. read more

I boarded my dog for a week while on vacation. When I picked him up, he clearly had infections in both eyes. After taking him to the vet, he had doggie conjunctivitis. I didn't make too big a deal with this issue and took my dog back for a day pass. In the middle of the day, I received a call that my dog was involved in a fight and bit another dog. The other dog attacked my dog and my dog was defending himself. This was confirmed via tapes. The next week when I took my dog in for daycare, I was told when I picked him up that his behavior wasn't great and they kept him in a crated area most of the time. Seems they were afraid he would retaliate even though he did nothing! Between the boarding incident, the lack of enough people to watch the dogs, the horrible smell when you walk in and the rudeness of Katie, I asked for a refund and have been advising others of my experiences. read more

They seem like a nice doggy day care, but their professionalism and manners are atrocious. My fiancé and I took our 2 year old German Shepherd for her consultation and instead of gradually working a new dog into the general population with small group interaction, they put her in a 20 dog room. She immediately became nervous and showed teeth, which isn't abnormal, and ran into a corner. When they finally put her leash back on, noosed around her neck and not on her collar, they came out and said "this isn't going to work, your dog showed her teeth and wasn't friendly". Unprofessional and seemed to know very little about dog interactions and "pack" knowledge. read more

They said they were sorry but their groomer had a full day scheduled. We had an appointment at 930AM and we actually had to call them around 140PM to check on our pet. My dog LOVES this place! She practically jumps out of the car when we pull up. The staff is absolutely fantastic as well. They knew my pup by name by our second trip and it's obvious they love the dogs! Price is competitive for the area. No cameras so I can't spy on my pup throughout the day, but it's just as well because I wouldn't get any work done if I could watch the puppy cam all day! We take our 6 month old puppy here for daycare, and we have no complaints. Our dog loves to stay during the day, and comes home with all of her puppy energy drained. We like dropping her off here so she doesn't have to stay in her crate all day while we're at work. The attendants feed her all of her meals and let us know if she didn't eat a meal. The facility is clean, and you don't smell the dog odor when you walk in that some other facilities smell like upon entering. You can tell that the attendants care for the dogs and look out for their wellbeing. read more

Disappointed. Took my dog to be evaluated and they took him to the medium size dog area. I told them that he was an anxious/older dog with separation anxiety and would snap if there was intent but he would be fine if you gave him a minute to get used to you and did not try to pick him up. Even though he is a small dog and should be in the small dog side- they said he couldn't go there since no one was watching that area. I thought the areas were supposed to be supervised 24x7. They took him to the medium side and I could see in the very small display tv out front that they would take dogs out to meet him and then have him play with them. When they went to grab my dog by the collar to lead him in - he snapped. They continued to grab at his collar which made him more anxious. I understand they need to be careful when selecting dogs as one told me "if they were to get bit, they would have to report it". So because they aren't good about taking them to the side that the dog belongs on (because no one is watching it), can't handle anxious dogs - which most are when meeting new people and having more than 20 large dogs barking and jumping at them, he didn't pass. It's fine b/c I wouldn't want to keep him at a place where they don't understand different dogs nor do what they say (have someone monitoring all areas at all times). ADDO are pooch people all the way. My 1 yr old Cattle Dog, Bogey, loves this place. The whole staff treats him like a celebrity and he gets a full day of exercise and socialization in a safe, stimulating environment. I can't stand to have him alone and bored when I'm at work, so I take him just about every day. There are always plenty of helpful staff and lots of good dogs for him to play with. Top tip: The grooming and dog washing services are great and reasonably priced comparative to PetsMart, etc. Also, you can access self-service dog wash basins and dryers if you prefer to do it yourself. read more

We boarded our dog at the ashburn while on vacation for a week. He was sneezing and so stuffy he could hardly breathe when we picked him up yesterday. He was so miserable he couldn't sleep and stopped eating. We took him to the vet first thing today, and he is staying overnight to be treated. We are just sick with worry and upset that our little guy is this ill. He was in perfect health when we dropped him of a week ago. The vet indicated it is a severe upper respiratory infection likely contracted from an unhealthy kennel environment. read more

I was initially turned off by this place when I bought my dog's in for an evaluation. While I was sitting there waiting, one of the staff members took the longest time to get my paperwork squared away. She was busy chatting away with customers. It took roughly 40 minutes just for my paperwork to be taken and my dogs to be evaluated. The great thing was I realized that this staff member knew all of her customers fairly well. She turned out being one of the owners. it seemed like whether the customer was new or old, she had a very good relationship with them. Not to mention, they have great prices!!! I love ADDO! I started taking my cockapoo puppy, Bear, here about a month ago and I could not be happier with the service he and I receive. The staff is always so warm and welcoming! At first I was very nervous about day care, bc I was really worried about my puppy playing with other dogs - he's got quite the little personality and is very energetic, but after a month of day care, he could not be a better dog! He is exhausted when he comes home and is much calmer on the days when he does not go to day care. I try to take about 2-3 days a week at the max. The facility is very large and clean and the staff seems to genuinely care about the pups. They do separate dogs based on their size, which I think is great. Their prices also seem to be the best around the Ashburn area. The only reason I am not giving a full 5 stars, is that the grooming they provide is a bit pricey. The groomer they have on site does have an amazing reputation (used to groom Presidential dogs), but its still too pricey for me. It would be more convenient to have a few additional groomers as an option. I really do love ADDO and do not know what I would do without having a safe and comfortable place to take my puppy when I'm not able to come home during the day. read more

I used to use this facility when they were new and they were very very good. After a while they became too crowded and weren't as diligent with watching the dogs. My dog was bitten and my dog also bit another dog. it was ok when my dog got bitten, but we were asked not to return after my dog bit another dog. Staff also became a bit uppity after they became successful. There are better places out there. read more

Not impressed with the Ashburn location. I went for an evaluation. They don't take reservations for an evaluation, you just show up. I walked in with my dogs and the young woman at the front desk did not greet us, seemed almost put upon to have to process the paperwork. No smile. There is no where to hook your dogs to so you stand there and fill out paperwork with dogs tugging at your arm. There were three other dogs in there at the same time all barking and carrying on and the staff moved slower than molassas to get the dogs back there. All paperwork must be done and you have to pay before they take the dogs back. Really? You'll get your $30. But when you have 5 dogs barking and carrying on you would think they might move a little faster. My dogs failed. No biggie, they passed at Dogtopia which has their act togetner. But the kicker for me was when their "dog trainer" suggested that I could return my dogs to the rescue I got them from because they growled at their tester dog in the evaluation. I asked if they corrected my dogs and got some mumbled answer about how they have to be sure a dog will be okay in this environment. I get it, but I also know my dogs and have seen them play with many otner dogs beautifully. Anytime you have over 15 dogs in a room there will be growling. I have no confidence that the staff there know how to handle it. Also I watched one of the floor staff in the big dog room smack a dog. Really! Think twice before going here. read more
