Took my good little puppy here for YEARS until our favorite groomer left. They told me my dog was no longer welcome because he's too aggressive and the groomers are afraid to groom him. To be clear he weighs 5lbs and has no teeth, he may be a little feisty at times but he can be a very easily groomed with a little bit of effort. They charged me $90 and said please don't come back. Our dog Allie since adopted has been going to Belly Rubs. They were outstanding in handling her through her first couple of visits to get her used to the process. Gradually she was able to be muzzle-less as she became comfortable with her care plan. Allie loves her spa days now! This practice will treat you like a number that doesn't matter to them, if something goes wrong. they won't bother to work things out with you. I had been a loyal customer for 7 years and tips 20%. They have never greeted me by name nor my dog. The one time I called to work an issue with my appointment out. They were not flexible and insisted to charge cancellation fees. I ended up agreeing to the cancellation fee and reskd to the next day. However, I told the Manager who happed to pick my call that I will take my business elsewhere in the future because I felt under valued and their lack of flexibility was a turn off to me. the Manager immediately denied me service out of fear of me no showing the next day. I informed the mgr that I waited two months for this appointment and it's not in my best interest to cancel. However, she still insisted to deny me service and threaten to give my dog a bad hair cut if I come anyways. how low and immature is that!!! In their google reviews there was another lady who used to go to them for 5 years and ended up leaving for the same reason I am, which is poor customer service resolution. My guess they made her feel the same way I did under valued and a number that doesn't matter to them. disgusting and poor business practice. Other places are cheaper, more efficient and much more flexible than them. I tried this place twice and should have stopped after the first try. They groomed my shi-tzu and he was left with mysteriously shaven paws - they literally shaved almost all the hair off each knuckle of his front paws! I questioned it at the time and was told it was standard but they would make note not to do it again and schedule him with a different groomer. I went ahead and made an appointment for "next time" but later canceled it after discovering a small "puncture wound" (the vet's words) on top of the knuckle of one paw. I noticed him licking his paw, and when it began bleeding I immediately took him to an emergency room. I called afterwards and canceled his next appointment. They never even asked me why or offered to reschedule. I suspect because they know what they did. read more

Not the first time we have taken our dog to belly rubs. But I have to say this was the worst. They just shaved the dog in order to get him out the door. Yes his hair was tangled but in no way did this warrant a full body shave. They did fit him on a cancelation but on hind site we should never have done this. So from the time i dropped him off to the time they called for pickup was just 1 hour 10 min. Anyone who owns a dog and gets them groomed you know it takes longer than 1 hour to get this done unless you shave them. So word of caution to prospective dog parents wanting to get there dog groomed. They take short cuts (literally) in order to pump as many dogs through as possible. It's all about the money. We will not be recommending Belly Rubs to any of our friends ever again. From the other reviews we are not the only ones to experienced this level of care. read more

I brought my Bernedoodle, Hattie Moon into Belly Rubs, about one month ago. I was have her groomed after we moved here from the West Coast- we were way behind in her grooming schedule! She needed some serious care. Here harness had left her matted, and many rain storms. Her cut is somewhat complicated because her legs are so long (More Poodle than Berner) so, there are about four different lengths she needs, here and there, to make her look more even. Her groomer back West sent great notes, as to how she had cut and how she cared for Hattie since she was 18 weeks old! Belly Rubs read them carefully, and asked me a few questions. And they got started. When I came back, Hattie looked great, and was so relaxed! Every instruction was followed to a T.! We are do to go back in, and we are both excited to do so! We took our pom to this place 2 times. Disappointed both. The first time they shaved everything without consulting us. We understand our dog fur is matted but they could have just shaved the outer coat not the inner one. They shaved everything. Then our pom started having skin issue but we thought It was just allergy and It would go away. The next time after they finished. In the evening when we were back home we saw our dog having couple blisters in his legs. His coat not cut evenly. His nose hair the same not clean cut. And his anus not cleaned. We still monitoring his blisters and his skin. Having vets looking into it and doing more tests. If anything proven we will take it to court. They offer good business hours, ample parking, staff is courteous and friendly, the grooming itself is generally good (fluffy and smell SO good) and much more affordable than mobile grooming. We had a few hiccups early on, but Teresa (the owner) is very responsive and addresses concerns in a timely manner. Only constructive feedback would be I wished they would note somewhere in their system of special needs/guidance for our boys, so we don't have to remind them each time we are there. Earlier this week I called to make an appointment for my puppy Jack Jack. I was able to get in the next day for a 130 appointment. Upon entering I was greeted by multiple associates and there wasn't a wait. After I got Jack Jack checked in I was offered an upgraded package which included a bandanna and a bag of treats. I opted in since Jack Jack hasn't been to the groomer in a while. They took him to the back to see if the length I was interested in was appropriate and would work and to make sure he didn't have any matted sections . She came back out and let me know that only two areas looked to be matted. I left and about an hour and a half later I got a call that he was ready. When I got back I picked up my handsome cowboy He does have 2 areas were he looks like he was cut too close but I know Jack Jack likes to squirm I paid about $100 in total and unfortunately you can't add a tip. Cash only tips I never carry cash but will remember for next time. My little man looks so handsome When leaving there was a lil confusion because I was waiting for his treats and I didn't know they are the packaged ones they sell. Totally impressed! read more

Belly Rubs is awesome. I came across them from the positive reviews they had but ofcourse was hesitant at first (price). We moved from Alexandria and had a few places we liked, but not loved. So we decided to give their obedience training a shot and see what it's really about. The trainer; Melanie - we adore her. It shows how much she loves her job and how much she cares about the pets. Little things she does really adds up to her character. She would show up to class with treats and toys almost every week. She stays late to answer questions and play with puppies in her new Friday night puppy socialize event she's doing. Our groomer, Sarah - she is extremely knowledgeable and sweet. She was the first and only groomer that successfully groomed our dog because he would not let anyone but us touch his feet and trim his coat. They gave him a cute little scarf afterwards (little things they do really matter to us). Again, another one that really care about the pets. And lastly, Teresa - the owner of the shop. She's great to interact with. We just love talking to her and hearing her ideas. Their prices aren't outrageous for the kind of service you receive there. We have struggled for years to wash our dogs at home! With two hairy Golden Retrievers the mess we made took longer to clean up than the actual bath!! Belly Rubs N Suds does the clean up for you!! That is unheard of... she threw NO ONE under the bus. Not only did she make this right, but she went way above and beyond to regain my trust as a customer. I will continue to be a patron here and will share this turnaround experience with others. If I could give this zero stars I would. I came into the store Saturday afternoon after literally driving three hours from picking up our brand new eight week old puppy. Per the directive from the Vet we were not to take the puppy in any place that had multiple dogs because he's not fully vaccinated yet. With that said I went into the store looking for a harness for my new puppy the sizes aren't listed on the tags for measurements or weight, so I asked the girl working if the extra small had a weight range and she said it should fit up to a full size Yorkie or chihuahua... so considering my puppy is only 4.6 pounds right now figured that would be the proper size so I bought it. I live literally behind this shopping center took it home tried it on my dog and the Velcro was too tight to fasten so I drove it back over to the store mind you this is all within 15 minutes and asked if I could please just size up to the next one and I was denied this option "given the reason due to Covid". I understand Covid I participate with all the rules and all the things however this was ridiculous the tags are still on it it hasn't even been a full half hour and I did not want my money back I just wanted to size up one size. I will not ever come back to the store... I will not ever use this store to have my dog groomed which by the way he will need haircuts and I will make sure I share with every person that I can all my friends all my coworkers that have pets to never use this facility. I'm not sure who owns this particular facility it used to be a very nice woman named Teresa who I had a very good relationship with because I ran a dog boarding business for many years and referred lots of clients to her even took many of them there myself for baths and grooming and what not if she still is the owner she really needs to speak to the staff about customer service during this really hard time because by the way the store right next-door where I ended up buying the NEW harness Has a 30 day return policy even during Covid. read more

I took my 6 month old Teddy Bear puppy in for her very first grooming experience and it went great. Everyone was very nice, they were so sweet to Lexi and the groomer went over in detail with me what I wanted. It only took a little over an hour so I was able to wait and have lunch until they called. I chose belly rubs n suds as I just moved to Ashburn area and wanted to find a new groomers for my dog. After doing some research I ended up here! They had a wonderful team to arranged Cali's appointment and fit her in as soon as they could. Cali got the full service spa which was a hair cut and shower. She was very anxious going in however the kind girl at the front took her right in and she was understanding of her anxiety. They did exactly what I asked which was just a trim and square ears. Her hairstyle looks a little bit more male than female, but honestly she was due for a grooming and she looks so cute, so it doesn't matter. I will commend them because her eye area was matted and had some dry boogies which was cleaned right out! She also has sensitive skin which they were able to accommodate for $5 more. The only thing is they don't accept tip on card, so make sure you have cash or check to do so! I will be coming back to give her stylist a tip! I will be coming again as they did a great job, and the price is worth them making sure your pooch is comfy and styled the perfect way :) read more

I have been using this grooming place for a while. Yesterday I took my dog for another service. They shaved my dog saying that he was matted, which wasn't true. He had a curly hair due to the swimming on the pool. They were lazy to brush my dog before cut the inches I asked fore. Call them and spoke with Teresa, whom was very dismissive and careless about my complains. I am very disappointed and I would NOT recommend Belly Rub Grooming to anyone. I randomly met the owner of this establishment out of the dog grooming genre and her knowledge of dogs, dog psychology, caring nature and business/ shop transparency made me give them a try as my two small dogs are always very stressed when they go to the groomers every six weeks. My pups have been with Santiago twice. He does an amazing job. I am very happy with the cuts and the way I am listened to. The biggest thing I love about this place is that the dogs are taken care of and have hour appointments, (or more), just like a human hair salon. I have one dog that is seen at 8 AM and the other is seen at 9 AM. The whole process usually takes an hour and a half for both of my dogs. That has never been the case with other groomer. Normally my dogs are there all morning or all afternoon, I assume, stuck in a crate. This is not the case with Belly Rubs. They are only there as long as they need to be. The other option is to have one or more dogs seen by multiple groomers at the same time which will get them all out even sooner. Booking in advance would be needed for this and I may even try it next time other than I feel like my dogs are developing a trust relationship with Santiago. The prices are comparable to other dog grooming salons in the area. This salon is clean with a very caring, friendly staff and an extremely transparent work area-literally: You can see everything that is happening inside the "back" cages, washing area and grooming area . This is done on purpose per the owner. Myself, Buddy and Sadie are now loyal clients of Belly Rubs Pet Care! read more

I wasn't going to leave a review, because I'm still so angry, I'm ready to scream. However, they emailed me and ASKED, so, here it is. Extremely disappointed in the grooming that happened to my dog. Yes, they didn't make me pay for it, but that's the only thing they did? They SHAVED my poor dog!!! His wee wee is RED from razor burn, as well as his two back paws, and around his rear end. I specifically said not to trim his tail either, and it was absolutely trimmed! What you don't understand is, it has taken YEARS to grow his hair out, due to very bad allergies he had had. It doesn't just grow back easily at all! I'm very disappointed in this company and more so that they didn't think they should somehow help make it right that they clearly ignored my wishes in regards to his grooming. The reason they gave me was, "it was a miscommunication between the manager and groomer". The manager, who took all the information from me, INCLUDING two pictures, and I specifically told her he was hypoallergenic, and they used a scented shampoo, which I've had to give him Benadryl for all his insane itching sense!! She told us everything we needed to know and proceeded to smirk and side eye me and nephew. My husband and I have been using the dog walking services for about 2 weeks. Yet, our journey to find a dog walker began several weeks ago. I e-mailed about 5 local companies a list of questions about their services and only 2 answered - one of them was Belly Rubs Pet Care. I e-mailed back & forth with Dan who runs the Arlington area. Dan has been nothing but professional, prompt, and pleasant in these exchanges. He was thorough and took the time to answer all my questions and ease our concerns as we were first timers when it came to hiring a dog walker. Dan comes out to our home Monday through Friday for a midday 30 min walk. The services are affordable and reliable. Our dog has fallen in love with Dan and my husband and I appreciate the daily notes Dan leaves us about how our pooch did. In addition, we love the fact that we don't come home to find surprises on the living room floor. Yay! We will continue to use Belly Rubs Pet Care for our dog walking services and hope to try out the boarding when when take trips. Awesome experience. We have a large rough collie. He is in good condition but the long fur and size intimidates some groomers. He looks great! They clipped him exactly as requested, and he is fresh and happy. They happily answered all of my many questions without hesitation. Why have I ever taken my dog anywhere else? Let me start from the beginning. I have heard great things about Belly Rubs but had always gone to PETCO out of convenience and assuming that Belly Rubs would always be booked. Well I was wrong. We called and they were able to fit us in within 2 days. When we dropped her off, the friendly groomer made sure that our pup was calm and got to know him a bit in front of us before taking her back. They said it would take about an hour to groom her. AN HOUR?! That is crazy fast. I am most happy about this aspect because I hate the thought of leaving my dog in a possibly stressful environment for more than an hour. But Belly Rubs is different than most dog groomers. I only saw one other dog being groomed when we were there and there was no chaotic barking. The next time I bring my dog I can rest assured that she is as comfortable as possible. They groomed my dog perfectly. We are particular about her cut (she's a schnauzer) and they gave us exactly what we wanted. Our dog came out happy, clean, smelling great and with a fresh bandana wrapped around her neck. And the cost was only $65! AMAZING!!! read more

What a lovely place!! It is clean and bustling with customers and staff!! I brought my male Alaskan Malamute and he looks absolutely stunning!! I had a concern that he might have had a negative grooming experience at a different business, which is why I was looking for a new groomer. I expressed this to the staff at Belly Rubs N Suds, and they calmed my fears, so I made an appointment. I dropped him off and ended up hanging around the shopping center, waiting for him to be done. They finished the groom in about an hour and a half, and when they called to let me know that he was close to being done, I came back to the shop and was able to watch the dogs being groomed through a window. I saw my pup, on the table, being finished up by the groomer while a young lady was petting his face and loving on him. He was so happy!! I saw a lovely staff of groomers and other staff working on the pups, and helping to keep them calm. It was a very pleasant experience for my pup, which is really important to me. Dropped my baby JoJo off today to get his hair cut which was long over due ! Let's just say he went in looking like a dust mop and came out looking like a Yorkie LOL. Being new to this area I searched around yelp to try and find a less expensive shop which in this area is an epic fail . So I found this shop which is fairly close to my home. The lady at the front desk was very welcoming. She went above and beyond by not only making sure I get the desired cut but she also provided me information on local veterinarians in the area. I love that you are able to go online and schedule an appt as well as you will receive multiple reminders of the appointed time. This is definitely my go to place for my little guy.
