My best friend and I were out exploring Portland's bar scene and decided to stop by this spot because it looked like it had a unique atmosphere. The space definitely delivers on aesthetics... dark, moody, and filled with black and red accents, crosses, and gothic-inspired décor. There was also a pool table, a photo booth, and plenty of interesting details to look at, which made for a fun experience. When we arrived, the bar wasn't very busy, and we ordered a round of drinks. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest downside of our visit. The bartender came across as disinterested and not particularly welcoming. Later, we learned she was actually the owner, which surprised us. As an owner, I would have expected either a bit more enthusiasm for the business or a stronger connection with guests. That said, everyone has off days, so it's possible we simply caught her at a bad time. As for the drinks, they were fairly average. I ordered the Peach Mule, while my friends had Long Islands. We also tried the pre-made Lemon Head shots, which unfortunately weren't our favorite. One thing that felt a little odd was the entertainment on the TVs. One screen was playing Scarface, which fit the vibe reasonably well, while another was showing an old vintage film that seemed somewhat out of place. It wasn't a major issue, just something that stood out. Overall, the atmosphere and décor were the highlights of the experience. While the service and drinks didn't leave a strong impression, the unique aesthetic, pool table, and photo booth made it worth checking out at least once.

Loved the decor of this place--very cool vibes and the drinks were great. Was a wonderful bar to chill in while we waited for our reservations. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Opening weekend! Excited to come by and check out this new space. Loved the lighting and decor, bathrooms were cute, didn't get a chance to use the photo booth but will definitely try it out next time. They had darts and a pool table, some high tops and some booths. The drinks were on the simple side but still good. Not sure if they will expand their current food menu, it is currently very "snacky" with chips, ramen, hot pockets etc.

My friend and I went here about a month ago. My friend paid $10 for a "pizza roll" which was just a hot pocket . I ordered the popcorn and it was Kirkland brand microwave popcorn still in the bag for $5. The drink was okay. I got the Peach Mule. It didn't have candy though as they claimed all cocktails do. The bartenders seemed really grumpy and kind of rude. It's a cute spot but feels a bit like a scam. I wanted to like it but I think it has some room for improvement. The bathroom was super cute. Maybe eventually they will change the food and expand the drink menu. I love a woman owned spot and I want to be able to give a better review but I have to be honest.

I think they just opened and it's a fun vibe. The service was quick, the bartender was not very friendly though.

There is a dining area just off the bar with some table seating; larger 4- and 6-top tables are closer to the right side of the bar as you enter. To the left, 2-tops transition to more open lounge seating. We shared delightful dishes from the late-night menu: the Brussels sprouts, the chicken tenders and the smash burger. I recommend all of them if those kinds of snacks are to your taste. I enjoyed a couple of good, ice - cold martinis. My beloved told our server that she couldn't find anything that quite called out to her from the sophisticated mocktails menu and asked if something sweet and cherry-flavored could be made for her. The bar delivered with an impressively balanced drink garnished with a cured cherry. "Because," as our server told us, "everyone deserves a swizzle stick." The food, drinks and service all were wonderful. For a restaurant, the thumping house music was a little oppressive. That was the club aspect of this place's identity. Still a great place to get a late night in downtown Portland.

We both started with drinks: Me: Gimme three steps. It definitely hit the spot after a long day. Onto food - we started with the Tavern Salad ($16). It hit all the notes. Greens and radishes for crunch, apples to add sweetness and blue cheese crumbles for salt. A great start to a wonderful meal. Next: Grilled albacore ($41) and roasted cauliflower ($$28). The albacore tasted good and it had with it grilled summer squash, heirloom tomato & corn, charred eggplant puree, chile oil vinaigrette. Really loved the eggplant in some ways more than the tuna. Score another for PNW freshness! The cauliflower - spicy due to the chipotle glazed with brightness from the pickled corn. Along with some grilled oyster mushrooms and coconut corn puree with scallions -it was probably my favorite dish. Had I not been so full, I might have told Gregg M we needed to order another one! Highly recommend.

The front patio was a nice place to enjoy golden hour and our service was exceptional. My dad got a brandy alexander, mom got a piña colada on the rocks and later a pink lady, and I got something like a Negroni (they make Negronis but I asked the server to choose something interesting and the result was absolutely splendid). Cheers to the professionals who helped make our visit even more special.

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.
