I hope these guys stay in business for the rest of (at least) my life! I will never hire anyone else. They treat you like family while you're their customer. They have moved me, family members, and some co-workers/friends out over the years and I haven't heard a single complaint from anyone. Quite the opposite. They're curtious and cautious with the way they handle the furniture. They do not waste time, but also do not rush the process. They take the time needed for careful planning ahead of the job to map out the most efficient route if the move is a longer distance. Easy ebb & flow the day-of. I had zero worries and was able to do what I needed the day of my move, while they took care of the rest. Incredibly grateful for the way they handle things on their end, because moving is stressful and chaotic enough. I would venture to say wildly fair for the service you end up receiving. I hate even giving them a star. DO NOT HIRE! They assured me ALL of my belongings would fit on the pod. They did not. It took them for some reason an hour to try to figure out how to get my couch out of the house. They said we won't charge for that hour as it wasn't actual moving or packing. ( it was their fault). When they finished and there was so much of my stuff left I was devastated and crying. The owner Joe calls and tells me there is a 2 hour extra charge (including the one the guy there already tells me I'm not going to be charged ). At this point I'm already going to have to pay over $1000 to get a hitch put on my car and haul a trailer from RI to CA. I STILL had to leave a LOT of my belongings behind and this jerk tries to charge me for an hour his guys couldn't figure out a couch. He finally relented since his guy had already told me. I get a email from HireAHelper , which is where I found them asking about my experience and I told them. They asked me to file a claim. Now, My things are still in storage and I'm very concerned about how they were packed after all of this so I am probably going to be even more devastated when I finally move to my place. This Joe gives me a lousy $50for my over $1000 and I then find out he has charged me that extra hour I wasn't supposed to be charged in the 1st place! He is a THEIF! Period! I'm on disability and this man literally steals from me. Moving is stressful enough, and then you have this . I lost so much because of them. I'm not letting him rip me off too. That $50 was a joke after what I lost Joe. You are not keeping that hour you were never supposed to charge. Shame on you. read more

I needed movers for 2 short in-house moves - having our floors redone and needed all of the furniture moved into the garage and then moved back after the floors were dry. Joe came with 2 additional men and the service was terrific and the price was very reasonable. They showed up on time and were some of the nicest and most helpful movers ever (and we have moved a lot!). I would not hesitate to recommend them and as a matter of fact, I already have. read more

Great team! Steven, Alex and Andy were polite, friendly, efficient and patient. I was moving things to a pod in my driveway and also into other rooms in a multi-story house. They didn't blink about climbing all the stairs or my adding on additional items to be moved. They were super efficient when packing the pod and I was impressed by just how much they were able to fit in there. Movers showed up early. Moved everything that needed to be moved - carefully. Without hesitation or fear of hyperbole, these guys are the absolute best you can get. My girlfriend and I spent 3 days on the road driving from New Orleans to Boston. We arrived in town later than we expected, and had to park our truck farther from our apartment building than would have been convenient. Joey and Jamaica were there for us. They were able to accommodate our late arrival into their schedule and they easily negotiated traffic on a busy street to get our cumbersome truck to a more efficient parking spot. Once they set to work they didn't stop. They unloaded our truck in a very careful, professional manner. They finished quickly, and were on their way. Contacted through Hire A Helper. Absolute great experience. Emptying house into two 16' storage containers for 5 months. Crew showed up on time, were neatly dressed and polite. The work that the crew did was extremely professional. They wrapped everything without prompting. They handled our belonging like it was there own. Easy to get ahold of, they picked up the phone when I called. I was also very impressed when they got my ordered Joey called to confirm and discuss the move. I had scheduled Good Guys Movers in mid May to pack my POD on May 29th. Texted and emailed back and forth and they were always quick to respond and seemed very helpful, I was told I was confirmed and everything was all set. My concern began to grow when a week before the move I sent a couple of questions and received no response. I thought this was odd but chalked it up to being busy. My concern turned to panic when a few days before my move I still had no response and subsequently had no response to additional email, texts and voicemails. The sheer terror set in the night before my move when after a week of no response I came to the realization that they were likely not going to show up the next day. They didn't, maybe I'm just unlucky as later that same day my cleaners cancelled 30min before they were supposed to arrive. Thank god for the family and friends that came to help! So in my opinion, if you are looking for a moving company that is great at communicating and definitely will show up when they say they will I would suggest taking a look elsewhere. Beware of false promises...I hired these movers because i was concerned with having family take responsibility for my bedroom furniture, which included an armoire. Shame on me, they damaged almost every piece of my furniture. I was sceduled for Saturday 8/12 and the owner, Joey Rugar called the day before and his crew was really sick, could i switch to Sunday. Well, he dd say i could stay on Saturday, but they were really sick, i was afraid to have movers feeling unwell so I agreed to Sunday. He touted that I'd have a fresh team and his best movers and added 1 person at no charge, so there were 3. Because I changed the day, i lost some of my family members help.It was a big mistake! I believe they jam packed the truck and that much of the damage was as a result of that. Even pieces that were wrapped with blankets were damaged. They broke a piece off a recliner and just left it on the floor, where I found it and that was at the start of the move. I have moved many times in the past, always with friends and family and never had the results I had with these wreckless bums! And, one of them was bad-mouthing me, because I said something about the damage and he stopped helping the other 2. I talked to the owner that day to complain and followed up with another call later that week. He basically alleged if I went thru his insurance he'd drag it out and I'd get very little compensation! So much for all his talk about integrity and family values. I told him I felt like I'd been had, and I was. I definetly got what I paid for! I should have paid another mover more money. I read all his reviews prior, but my experience was very disappointing, I don't understand what happened, but it was a diaster. Joey even tried to suggest I was lying about the damage, because he didn't see my furniture before the move. He asked 1 of his guys on the phone on Sunday and his reply to his boss was to hedge and say he didn't look closely before! Again, BEWARE! AWFUL, AWFUL EXPERIENCE! read more

Wish I could give them no stars. They screwed us over leaving my husband to do all the work. They told us that they were on way from RI, and should arrive around 2pm.. texted them again, and they said they were on way... We waited n waited.. Texted them 2 hours later and finally never heard back. by then it was 8pm and too late. If they needed to cancel, wished they told us so we could find someone else within 24 hrs. Worst experience everrr! btw, I suffered horrible back spasms because my husband and I were left to move things from a 3 bedroom house to our new place (in the freezing weather) within 4 hours after being stood up. we didnt go to bed until 8am. yup, pulled an all nighter. omg.. Do NOT use these movers. They didn't finished my move, didn't show up the next day to finish as they promised, and didn't return phone calls or answer the phone for a week after that. Then the business owner Joseph, threatened to sue me if I posted a negative review online about them. I hired them to move my house and my mother's small 1 bedroom apartment apartment into a new house with an in-law apartment for my mom. Joseph estimated about 6 hours, and I confirmed that I could just pay for the extra hours if it took longer. The day of the move I got a 24 ft truck and the 3 guys from Good Guy Movers showed up on time. They loaded up my house, working at a fast pace. Then we went to my mom's, but there was only about 6 feet left in the truck, they wanted come back after unloading my stuff and move my mom's stuff. At the new house, they worked much slower as it was a very hot day that day (understandable). I gave them ice water and my wife bought pizzas for the guys as well. They took periodic short breaks to rest and ate the pizza. 2/3 of the way through, they said that because of the heat and being tired, they weren't going to be able to go back to get my mom's stuff that day. I explained that my mother has asthma/COPD, frequently has to use oxygen and needs somewhere to sleep that night. I moved her oxygen, but she can't sleep on our furniture because of allergies to our dogs. I offered them each extra money as a tip to finish that day in addition to the extra hourly money and said I didn't mind that they were working slower. They said they just didn't have the energy, but they would meet me at my mom's place at 9am and finish and would have it done so I could close on my old house at 3pm as scheduled. I agreed to this and paid them for 6 hrs they worked and got my mom's bed myself that night. At 9:15 the next morning they still weren't there. I called Joe's cell and it went to voicemail. I had called him half a dozen times in the month prior, and he ALWAYS answered, even if it was to say that he couldn't talk and would call me back. Every call went straight to VM without ringing that morning, evening and the next day. My wife and I called more than 50 times and left dozens of VMs over the next couple of hours. When 10am passed I started hauling butt up the 3 flights of stairs to the apartment and moved as much as I could. I moved about 1/3 of it myself but couldn't do more because I had to unload it, return the truck and be at my home closing. I found a mover to finish the move the next day. I rented a truck again, and took the day off work. The new movers moved my mother's stuff in about 2 1/2 hours. Combined with what I moved, I would estimate that should have been 3 to 3 1/2 hours for a 3 man crew of professional movers to do the whole thing. A week later, I had no response to any of the messages that I left for Joseph. I tried calling him again as I wanted some of the money back to recoup my costs for 2 more days of rental truck, day off of work and last minute movers to finish the job his guys didn't. The call went to VM without ringing. On a hunch, I blocked my phone number and called back...as if by magic the phone rang and Joseph picked up. What followed was almost an hour of him making circular and contradictory excuses for his guys and trying to blame me. (The following is paraphrased) Him: "you didn't tell me your mom's place was on the 3rd floor" Him: "You should have called me, I would have made them finish the job that night or sent another crew in to finish it" Him (responding to why he never returned my voicemails): "I was out of state all that week" (He continued to change the subject every time I asked what good it would do to call him that night if he was out of state) Him: "I was told your house was moved and you were going to re-schedule for your mom's stuff" Him: "I yelled at my guys for not finishing" Him: "I fired the foreman on the crew" Him: "I didn't authorize them to come back the next day, they just made a side deal with you" Me (towards the end of the conversation): "It's obvious we aren't getting anywhere. Just so you know, I'm going to be posting reviews about your company anywhere that I can find to host online reviews of you and I've already contacted the Better Business Bureau to have you added so I can submit a complaint with them." Him: "Go ahead and do that and you'll see me" (the emphasis was on SEE) I'll leave you to determine what he meant by that last comment but when asked if I needed to call the police to report him threatening me, he said "All right, I'll go the legal route and have my lawyer tear you to pieces". I don't know for sure what he meant but I'm not particularly concerned either way as I can't be successfully sued for leaving an accurate account of what happened online and if he should show up at my house to physically threaten me, he'll notice that I moved my firearms there myself. read more

I cannot recommend them enough. They were punctual, wicked friendly/funny/easy to talk to. Ethan is absolutely amazing. Everything I was worried about such as taking apart and putting together our bed frame took him no time at all. We moved out of a very old house with small doorways and a ladder like staircase, and he navigated our furniture around like a true professional. He even kept me calm and reassured me along the way that everything was going to be smooth and no problem at all. I was honestly amazed. It was also 90+ degrees today which didn't seem to slow him down. The amount of belongings we had we perfectly fit into the truck like a masterpiece; no damage to even the most delicate furniture. I can't say enough good things about my experience. I even got to meet the owner, Joe, and it's refreshing to interact with someone who cares so much about their clients. Great family business. I'm a newbie to using movers but the two guys who showed up at my door definitely met my expectations. I called on Friday for a Tuesday truck loading after realizing that my friends just weren't going to be available. While Tuesday was booked they were able to squeeze me in on Monday night which worked perfectly for me. I got a confirmation call and email the day before and the movers were actually early on their arrival. They backed the truck up for me and moved everything within the expected 2 hours. The inside of the truck is like a well played game of tetris and things are tied securely along the way. I'm very confident that I will be arriving at my destination with belongings intact and I thank Good Guy for helping me through what was otherwise going to be a VERY stressful move! read more

Good Guy Movers were a godsend!!! I rarely give reviews let alone lengthy ones but I had to comment on these guys. I was stuck. Several of my helpers backed out last minute, so I called Good Guy Movers out of desperation at around 10pm the night before our move and Good Guy Movers not only followed up that night, they were there on time ready and willing to do more than I expected the next morning. That was about 7am!! less than 10 hours response time. I intended on having them only move large items that would require two or more people and to be done inside of 3 hours (the minimum) so I asked for just 2 people to help me. They did beyond help me; they moved the entire house with the exception of several large items that needed a crew. This took about 5 hours instead of 3. He charged me to the minute instead of rounding up which was pleasantly surprising. Further, I booked another move for the large items. I got quotes from other moving companies. They wanted triple the amount to move just one of the three items and they took days to get back to me! Overall, the price was a fraction of what I would have paid other moving companies (I did get quotes) the other companies were inconsistent and apathetic about returning my calls or emails let alone the move itself. I had to move a safe, a big one, one company came out, looked at it, and left stating he would email me a quote - I never got an email. Others wanted crazy money to do just the safe and nothing else. Good Guy Movers not only moved the safe for a reasonable price, they moved several other large items that same day. As for character, I didn't want strangers in my house or to move my things because I have had bad experiences in the past with things missing, damaged etc. Joe and his brother Justin along with his moving team were professional, motivated polite and non-stop. I can't express how much energy and knowledge they possessed. They were not a couple of guys off the street needing work that day, they took one break after the 3 hour minimum and got right back into the house to finish what they started. I was amazed at the amount of energy and not one complaint or damaged item. I could tell immediately that they were experienced in moving just by how they used dollies, blankets and tools (which they had on hand) to dismantle tables etc I found out later that they are 3rd generation movers and have been doing this since childhood. I have been bragging about theses guys for a week now!! I would definitely recommend Good Guy Movers to anyone and everyone and I will be calling upon them again in the future! read more

Called, set up a job interview, met for the interview, the owner shook my hand told me I had a job and then proceeded to tell me a long line of "ill call you laters" and fake complications. Strung me along for a month after he told me I had a job. Dont do business with this guy. Honesty and being straight with people is a big part of business. If you can't even afford a 20 year old the respect of calling him back after you told him he has a job then I am really not sure how the company has lasted this long. read more

Last year around this same time, we had our first floor hardwood redone so we needed someone to move all of our items...Good Guy movers were awesome! This week, we had 2nd floor hardwood installed so we needed all the big items moved from the 2nd floor to the first floor, basement, and garage. Again, they were prompt, quick, careful, and very accommodating; and the best part, VERY reasonably priced. Joey and his crew were amazing! They helped us unload a truck in Boston. After our terrible experience in Baltimore (by MD Experts Movers), Joey's crew helped us finish our moving experience on a good note. They arrived early and efficiently unloaded our truck in a bit less than two hours. They were really nice and accommodating - the freight elevator in our building was being used by another moving crew at the same time and we had to share it but Joey's crew reassured us they could make it work and they did. Moves are stressful enough and having good movers with great attitude makes a big difference. It was truly a great experience. 100% Recommended!!! read more

We just used Good Guy Movers for a last minute job after another mover didn't show up. The owner, Joe, answered his phone and was able to find 2 men to help us the next day. The price was very reasonable. Joe then called back a couple of hours later to confirm the job. The men showed up the next morning precisely on time and got the job done in the time that they and I had thought would be reasonable. They were all very pleasant and polite. The movers were only about 10-15 minutes late, not a big deal at the time. However, with three of them "working" they went over the two hours we hired them for by about 20 minutes and we were still charged for additional time. They took several breaks, smoking outside of the POD, probably not knowing we could see them from our kitchen window. They we respectable when talking with us but definitely not with our furniture or living space. The walls all along our stairwell were scratched and scuffed and damaged. My roommate and I are not professionals when it comes to packing a POD, hence why we hired what we thought were professionals. Upon the anxious arrival of our things, we were heart broken to learn just about every piece of furniture they had pack was damaged or ruined. Holes, gashes, scratches, crushed boxes clearly labeled "Fragile"... It was a nightmare. I would never use or recommend this service and will most likely be seeking legal action. read more

If you want your valuables, antiques, family possessions to arrive safe and sound.....DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THESE GUYS!!!!!! And if you think your jewelry is safe, THINK AGAIN. I was shocked to see pictures of the job they did for us on here. Yes they strapped and packed our baby grand but that was the only piece that arrived not damaged. They loaded three (3) trucks and not ONE item of our belongings arrived in the condition we had it before they touched it! (Except piano) EVERYTHING has some type of damage. Washer and Dryer had to be thrown out...damaged Antique Kitchen table from England..damaged Lamps, shades, bookcases, rugs, side tables, beds, benches...damaged Missing pieces to lamps Missing pieces to desks Boxes caved in Wardrobe boxes..damage TV's not strapped in.....damaged Flat screen...damaged If you need pictures just let me know. Good Guys are horrible. The movers that moved me two years before them did it in half the time and I had the exact same furniture! Also the previous movers had two men (Good Guys, I paid for 3), had to drive 45 minutes (Good Guys only had 10 minutes to drive) and they had to move down THREE FLIGHTS of stairs and they still finished earlier. FIRST Good guys movers wrecked my landlord property and I got in trouble. SECOND they told me that on the way to the new place they would "grab a sandwich" and showed up OVER AN HOUR LATER cause they stopped to eat at a buffet( No, they did not charge me for that hour and a half, but still!!). THIRD they broke one of my coffee tables WHICH CAN NOT BE REPLACED CAUSE THE STORE DOES NOT SALE THEM ANYMORE, scratched up my $4000.00 bed on one top ended pole and a headboard and they messed up my kitchen table which now rocks and my coffee table which now rocks as well! I signed for a 350.00 insurance coverage and one pole on my bed cost that!! AND when I called the OWNER to complain, they did not even offer to pay the 350.00 I signed for!! PERSONALITY WISE the three guys were nice as could be. They had tons of covers in the truck and left a lot of my stuff like my WHITE COUCH uncovered!(unfortunately, I did not notice this until they were unpacking the truck). THEY ARE HUMAN, they make mistakes. I get that. You live and you learn. The movers barely ticked me off...What pissed me off the most was the fact that I called and asked to speak to the owner and he did nothing to offer to fix this with me. NO I dont want them fired. ALL I WANTED WAS FOR THE OWNER/SUPERVISOR to show some kind of compassion, offer to give me back at least the insured amount and maybe say he was sorry!! All he said was that he would look into it. THEY SUCK!! I will NEVER USE THEM AGAIN and anybody I know...ANYBODY...I will tell them to take their business elsewhere. read more
