They at times have a good selection, but their prices are high, and while they claim to buy, sell, trade, they offer absolute lowball amounts in trade or sale. I recently was interested in trading some firearms, and the owners offer was bordering on an insult. Right after that offer, another store that I've dealt with often happily paid me twice what these clowns offered. Homeland Security (Federal Authority) deems gun stores to be "essential business" *YAY* This is a mom and pop shop has been around for ~25 years and they are currently open business as usual (CLOSED Sun/Mon). While I waited for my background check to process, there were several walk-in customers; business as usual *thumbs up* I had a special order request that I placed before my birthday. The typical turn around time for a special order is 3-5 business days. Unfortunately, these are strange times and the distributors are currently way behind. I ordered 3/19 and received a call today from the owner (Dan) that my item had been received and was ready for pick-up (almost 3 weeks later). A very pleasant transaction. Excellent customer service. A fair price *no price gauging here* Like everywhere else in todays market, call ahead for ammo... I scored a single box of "self-defense" ammo that is WAY BETTER than most critical points that I found elsewhere for just about the same price as a lessor specialty box normally costs me. I discount most of the 1 and 2 star ratings because it is difficult to please everyone, especially someone with a chip one their shoulder. If you are like me, you already know this is one of the best places in Medford (and surrounding area's) to buy a firearm. Since they moved into the new store, they have more room and have added more stock, I'm often surprised at the inventory they are able to carry. I find Dan to be knowledgeable about firearms and always willing to help with the questions I have. True, he isn't real outgoing, but he has never been rude and uncaring, and has always been most helpful. I don't live in the Medford area, but I call this shop anytime I'm looking for a particular firearm, because I know their price will be fair and usually lower than other places. As far as employees and their remarks, it is difficult to control anyone else's personal opinion, let alone the opinion's of employee's. Employee's are hard to come by, if you have one that does his job, you overlook some of the remarks he makes. Bare in mind, Obama has earned the remarks he gets, so he doesn't count. I'm reading the reviews and see people complaining about the prices. ARE YOU F***ING KIDDING ME?!?!?!?! The prices on guns are lower than any other store except Sportsmans Warehouse, and they are on par with them! Yes, ammo is a bit high, but that's what you get with small local shops, they don't have the buying power of big box stores. Even at that, their prices are still lower than the other local shops. The employees are quite friendly and jovial, and are very knowledgeable about their products. The old man can be a bit gruff at times, but I've never been offended by him. As for the guy in the previous review who complained about a supposed homophobic remark about being "limp-wristed", either you ARE gay and easily offended, or you don't have enough real gun experience (despite your claims) to know that 'limp-wristing' is a very common term to describe a less than firm grip. I'm not saying you didn't get low grade reloads, you very well may have. But since you were so quick to feel emasculated by such a common term, you may want to work out and man up a bit. read more

Listen i have been treated very poorly by good guys guns and It has really upset me as we are all trying to fight for our rights as gun owners and should be treated with respect. I myself felt the very same as Nyx K. So not to long ago I went into good guys gun's not to make a purchase but to talk with them man to man and i can promise all of you that not only did they listen but they where deeply sorry for the way I and other's had been treated by the staff at good guy's. So I purchased 2 more rifles from good guys 1 was a VERY VERY good deal and the other i could have gotten $20.00 cheaper just down the road but I wanted to show them how much i really appreciated them humbly listening to and addressing the issue's. As for the low rating its just hard for me to give GGG's more then that as it took me talking with them befor I got good customer service and even then The skinny older fella seems like he PMS's in 3 day cycles LOL. I think he needs to move over and let some fresh fun helpful guy/gal bring some more life back to the store. Seems like he struggles at the service with a smile thing ya know. Not trying to be rude or unfair but I would bet GGG's would do much better with out him. And you flat out will most of the time pay more then you need to for guns and just simply because of that my money goes where its worth the most. Also i asked them why there prices are what they are the answer was weak at best what i got from the answer is they just over pay for everthing they have in the store. And that sucks for them as more and more and MORE ppl stop going to GGG's. Not sure anyone in GGG's can look at the internet but I would only hope some how they could see the ratings and comments as it will only help them. GGG's has pretty awful prices on most of their guns. The selection is decent but a gun I bought brand new for $200 at Sportsman's Warehouse was almost $100 more expensive. A gun that was $450 down the street was $650 at Good Guy's. Their ammo isn't much better. Everything is just more expensive for no real reason. I cannot BELIEVE they tried to charge me $50 for an FFL transfer. I got it done for $25 elsewhere. Customer service wise, they tend to be rude. I do not look like the standard gun store customer, and in spite of the fact that I have spent plenty of money there, they still treat me like a retarded Richard Simmons most of the time I go in. Usually they just completely ignore and decline to help me in favor of other customers (real or imaginary), but occasionally it goes further. The most offended I've ever been in any gun store ever was when one of the employees of GGG's insisted that the reason my 9mm was jamming wasn't because of the low quality reloaded ammo they sold me, it was because I must be "limp wristing" the gun. HA HA funny gay joke, I've been shooting since I was fourteen, dickhead, and my gun didn't jam before you sold me the reloaded ammo, and it didn't jam after. Logic dictates that you're a prick and I'll buy ammo from someone who doesn't think their thinly-veiled homophobic remarks are witty enough to fly under my radar. Basically where I go when I absolutely have to. The only reason I liked it in the past was they never checked my ID when I was 19 and buying 9mm, but other then that they've been pretty consistently rude and overpriced. I've dealt with my share of rude gun store owners who judge me based off of appearance and think I'm going to stumble in asking if abercrombie makes guns, but usually after I talk to them a little they ease up. After driving all over Medford I decided on purchasing a home defense shotgun from Good Guys. I got there at 4 PM and was done before 5, paperwork and all. Their prices were better than anyone else in town. I got my CZ for $60 LESS than the MSRP and the 2 gentlemen that were there were friendly and knowledgeable. Walked into the store was greeted and had overall good service. Found what I needed and was looking around since it was my first time at this store. Over heard a guy ask if they had military discount. Waited to hear a response and the next words that came out of the man behind the counter were, "No since he believes that ppl in the military already have to many benefits. And mentioned anyone can join the military and sit behind the desk or be deployed. It was their choice to join the service it's their job." In my mind I thought to myself he has the right of free speech, but he lives in a country that ppl volunteer to serve and protect this beloved country. WW1 and 2 veterans weren't all volunteers they were drafted. I gotta say the man doesn't know Oregon has a high rate of veterans. And I'm sure they can take there business else were that honors veterans. A simple No would of been fine since your running a business to match the competition. read more

First, a comment on J.E.'s complaints: Multiple your angst by the number of gun shops in the South, almost all of the gun shops in other states and most of the customers that frequent them and, ta-dah, you have a microcosm of our country and the undercurrents that seem to surprise you. "Why can't we all just get along?" is not part of the gun milieu! Where are you from, Pilgrim? On more positive notes, Dan (the owner?) is a gentleman. He will work with you a tad on $ and orders. He even provides gun and CCW training for less money than most. His store is clean, is well-stocked and has easy/abundant parking. My experience is that his prices are competitive with others and better when you consider that he does not charge $30 "transfer fees" or $10 for background checks. Dan has 3 employees, at least two of whom would benefit from a good Customer Service course. Dan, if you read this, drop the grumpy old guy (even if he may be your father), give the woman more training on guns and tell "patch" to tame his biases at work. read more

I have bought several guns around the valley in the last few years. The negative experiences that have been listed can be found in any store. So to attribute them wholly to one store is ridiculous. I have spent several thousands of dollars at Good Guys in the last three years. I have never had an issue with the staff as they have always been accomodating whether I was buying, perusing, or simply had questions. Dan the owner is a consumate gentleman. I once bought a M1 carbine from the store and upon shooting it the reciever busted. There was no way to tell that it was going to malfunction, I throughly inspected the gun before shooting it. Anyways, it broke, I took it in and Dan didn't even hesitate to give me my money back. That is customer service. I have taken several guns to have a part put in it and Dan installed the part while I wait for no more than the cost of the part. Now lets talk about Jim, not patch as someone was idiotic enough to say. Jim is opionated about his guns. Guess what Jim knows guns. Shut your mouth and open yours ears for a second and you might learn something from him. Jim has turned me onto some guns I never considered before and I have had a blast shooting them. What I love about GGG is no matter what I want, they have gotten it for me. I have not been gouged for special orders. I have and will continue to buy my guns at GGG. If you want a true gun buying experience buy from Good Guys. Spend some time talking to them about what you are looking for, check your ego at the door and let them do what they do best. Great people to work with and they take their time with you. I went in looking for something specific and they showed me less expensive options. When I decided to go with my original weapon they found a better price than originally was quoted to me. The atmosphere was enjoyable and light as I spent over two hours total for my transaction. How interesting..... Previous reviews that is! My experience yesterday was really good! First off, there selection of AR and AK accessories was really good, and they had a particular item I was really looking for. Gun prices were quite good, and they had a good selection. They made it clear they could order most items if they didn't have it in stock, and they don't charge $10 to make the background check phone call to the Oregon State Police. Maybe there services and prices were bad at one time? I can only comment on my experience yesterday, and I will go back! read more

i have been shopping here about 2 years- everything i shop for is cheapest at good guys guns. that includes internet and local pawn shops, sportsman's warehouse etc. not sure if some items are over priced that i don't notice, but i do quite a bit of shopping around before i buy a gun and i have never bought a new gun at a different store as long as i have lived in the rogue valley. that is not because i am loyal or know the owner, it is because they have the best prices/ service. read more
